  • well now im depressed. knowing that a freaking Muppet can play the banjo better then me!

  • This was the greatest family show ever. Every Sunday night, we looked forward to sitting down with the children to watch the Muppet Show. So sad that no show has ever come close to the genius of the Muppets.

  • wow i still think hes awesome thank you dad for introducing me to johnny cash!

also LOLOL hahahahahahaha thank you muppets....ha.........ha......

  • 11 people have unpleasant childhood

  • The next song he played? Cocaine Blues.

  • @spankapixie

I read in Jim Henson's Bio that he never allowed anyone to take pictures of his Muppets except when they were " alive " doing a show .

  • This has cheered me up no end.

  • Only Johnny Cash can say "hell" on the Muppets.

  • @stevemaggot8 and @sbseed you 2 are retarded. I know Johnny was country it was just an expression meaning that he was so cool that he transcended all genre's. He wasn't pigeonholed into one genre. So you 2 need to get a grip. Especially you @stevemaggot8.

  • What a wonderful mixture (Cash & Hensons puppets), thats magic, I guess.

    RIP.

  • I like the part at the end with the KKK muppets

  • @PlatinumJestar Actually they are Ghostriders...

  • spankapixie-when Michael Caine did the muppet xmas he said he went in insisting he wouldn't tlak to the 'puppets' just the artists and he said they won't let you, Ms. Piggy will NOT be ignored, you can't help yourself.

  • @GravesRWFiA he also said he felt really really bad about having to yell at them because he loved them.. lol

  • @spankapixie Alot of people miss Jim Henson, where ever he is I hope he knows he made alot of people happy

  • Suddlenly, I want to hear Ghost Riders done on vibraphone.

Never imagined I'd ever utter that particular sentence.

  • @spankapixie: I STILL can't see them as puppets, even though I know exactly what's going on down there and have done puppets myself. Jim and co just had the magic.

  • Once you hit the Muppets show, You know you have arrived at the top. :)

  • Nobody did this song like Johnny Cash, not even the original singers. His is by far my favorite rendition and with the Muppets added it's quirky beyond description too. :)

(Sorry for my bad English...I came from Germany)

  • @spankapixie I know exactly. Thanks for posting this comment... I miss it too, but maybe I'll have a little bit of that innocence in my heart today.

  • This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. It's like Reese's. Two great things, put together, to make something even better!

  • LMFAO that was a mistake to have the ghosts and flag but i know for a fact it was not supposed to be racist.

  • The flag probably wasn't even his idea but everyone makes a big deal out of it. Johnny cash had alot of native heritage and preached racial tolerance in many of his songs so I don't think he was a bigot.

  • 9 people were offended by a flag , bunch of pussies

  • our Brother Johnny <3

  • The Muppets were the Best!!!!

  • I kinda giggled when I saw the rebel flag, but I fucking died when the damn muppet's kkk armada rode out. hahahhahahhahhahahhahahah

  • @x3DUARDO ... Confederate flag, and they were not rebels, the Union were the ones rebelling. They teach that here in Canada, don't they do that down there in the States?

  • @owenfranciscook Fuck if I know, bro; I'm mexican. hah

  • @x3DUARDO really, your country say's US

  • @owenfranciscook The Confederate soldiers were called the Rebels. Not sure how you can say the Union were the ones rebelling when the Confederate states were trying to secede.

  • @x3DUARDO I don't think that was intended to be KKK in this instance - I think lthe muppets were intended to be ghosts.

  • @x3DUARDO I don't think the muppets were intended to be KKK in this instance - I think they were intended to be ghosts.

  • @WendingWanderer lol I know. I was trying to make a funny. haha

  • true about Jim Heenson at lest he had the for site to go in with dizney co. and now the henson will live on and should never fad like so meany other programs and things

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I love how the fuzzy banjo guy looks.

  • cute ghoastriders.turn around blossom.

  • Cash was a smart man. By performing on the muppets, think of all the young kids who became fans AND BOUGHT HIS MUSIC.

  • the 9 people who dislike it also hate children and the muppets

  • all i want to know is HOW could 9 people not Like this song ?? it's unheard of

  • So we whent from johnny cash to the people im not going to say. I think disney got parkinsans

  • Wow! I never thought muppets went that back. lol :)

  • @cameronfields6811, i know man its bullshit, everyone including me flys one in baton rouge but its because of those damn yanks and hippies that take everything so goddman serious, we even got blacks that have confederate stikers on the damn bumbers.

  • wow... a Confederate flag on a children's program. the world has changed so much, now that would be a racist lawsuit in the making.

  • @cameronfields681 Agreed. Its sad but i dont pay much attention to those blacks or yanks who think its racist. I keep my flag flying high!

  • @expostfactum Right right..

And the swastika is a reversed Hindu symbol.

  • flyin Dixie in the back...

  • Hey kamikazeVX,Well said i like that observation finally someone with an orginal thought keep it up.

  • Is it just me, or does Johnny Cash look a LOT like the guy who plays Bob on Scrubs?

  • this is what im talking about, kids are not exposed to great musicians anymore. all they see are entertainers who are out for a quick buck.

  • @kinglui01 check out "hey gabba gabba"- it's the only current kid's show i know of with good musicians on every episode.

  • Gonzo with his nose sticking out Roflmao, I do miss Jim's work and of course Johnny Cash was a master musician

  • gosh this is perfect :D love johnny, love the muppets...this rocks, really ! :)))

  • Mr. Johnny Cash Yeeeaaaahhh

  • Mr. Johnny Cash Yaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!

  • Johnny wasn't country. He was just cool

  • @mrk66 actually johny cash was a country singer... all of the stuff he did was either country or changed to a country lilt.

  • @sbseed, where the hell is your rock that you've been under? You don't inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for just being a 'country singer'. How about you educate yourself before you open your mouth, and make yourself look like a fool.

  • @iboomer09 you do realize that country singers have and are inducted into the rock n roll HoF?!... like willie nelson who is a country singer, and micheal jackson who is the king of pop... the hall of fame isnt just for rock and roll artists.

besides what people say someone is 'professionally' and what the music is that they do are sometimes like with him and roy orbison (another country singer) they are considering to be rock in the music industry but everything they do in real life is country

  • @mrk66 you obviously dont know music, dumbass

  • @mrk66 you obviously dont know music, dumbass

  • @mrk66 you're a dumbass

  • man,Johnny's voice is the best.cannot be mistaken. It's like a mysterious figure from the Old West talking through time.

  • dabia.

  • Mr J Cash, what a legend, may he rest in peace.

I love this vid as it is my fav kids prog & country artist.!

  • everytime i see this video i laugh my head off, its so funny

    and well put together

  • The Man in Back 4 EVER!!!

  • im not a huge fan of country music but johnny cash freaking rules RIP JOHNNY CASH

  • "Hammer!" is more like "WOW! Just... wow!". Or "stunning". Just more everyday speech, mostly used by kids, lower-class people or people who think it's cool to talk like lower-class. A term that became popular in Germany after a not-so skilled yet famous singer used a too much in the German equivalent show of "American Idol"...

Calling Johnny Cash "Hammer!" is like saying "Leonardo da Vinci? Yo, phat!"

Synonyms would be "genial!" (ingenieous!) or "großartig!" (great!)

  • One of my favorite songs from my very earliest days -- first grade, to be exact! In Colorado's cattle range country. Love it with the original great singer.

Next weekend is our county fair with bull riding, cattle roping, barrel racing, the real stuff.

Ya gotta be a good sport to play with the muppets!!

Funniest ghosts I've ever seen!! LOL!!!

  • 1:50 he's trying not to laugh! LOVE this clip

  • Haha.. Johnny Cash is der beste !!! Ich musste mir grad zwar den arsch ablachen, aber seine musik is einfach hammer,. :-) <3

  • @Katzeleine "hammer" Ist das like "sick"? Danke fur die (der?) posts!

  • @TheRebasMom ehm... hammer heißt... I love that Music.. Johnny Cash is the Best!... !!!!

  • I hate country, but for some reason I could never find a song by Johnny Cash that I hated. R.I.P Johnny Cash, a true legend.

  • I remember seeing this on TV when it first aired.....

  • Awesome.

  • Der mit dem Bengo ist Linkshänder ;)

  • @Benjarik

Have you never noticed that ALL guitar / bass playing muppets are lefthanded?

  • @zijnemajesteit In fact all the muppets are lefthanded due to the puppeter's comfort

  • I LOVE the Stars and Bars in the background.

  • the muffin theatre? lol so funny

  • Kudos to the man in black!!!!

  • How did he not crack up when they came out with sheets on? that was hilarious.

  • burningbox21 - I've got one flying in my yard (cue the ignorant, knee jerk reaction).

  • wtf is up with the confederate flag

  • your gonna look pretty funny, stein, tryin' to eat corn on the cob with no FUCKEN TEETH

  • Johnny Cash, forever in our hearts.

  • What year was this?

  • @wtfyep I'm guessing 1980 or 81. I remember watching it in first run in college.

  • @mrsfun101 Cool, thanks. :)

  • Can you imagine life when we were growing up without the Muppets? It was the elixer of life for us...good, wholesome, and downright funny! Those were the days! It's a shame our kids are not exposed to good stuff like this. Now it's all violence, sexual innuendos, and stuff our kids really don't need to be worrying about at their age. Our society is going to hell in a handbasket....funny part is, that's what our parents were saying about us when we where growing up.

  • @EricBBrandon1 Actually...growing up in the 60's had to Shock my parents to see our dress, and especially the 70's dress we tried to sneak out with!

And I really do think life was so very Holsum in the 50's...

Now those Same Hippies R Runnin our Country and Morality into a Hell Hole.

Just look at the controls on Movies then...

And now...for a child '-' So that part is very True.

  • @funkateerkitty After I got out of the service, in the 80's, I went to college in North Dakota, at NDSU-Bottineau, and it's a small town. It was like taking a trip back in time, say 20 years! I crossed the street, and passed between parked cars. Here was this El Camino, window rolled down, keys in the ignition, checkbook sitting on the dash. I was shocked, and went to some of the stores asking who owned the car. Finally a lady told me, don't worry, most of the homes here don't have locks!

  • @EricBBrandon1 Isn't it strange to travel to places where it seems time has been held still for many many years? Mayberry RFD!

It is those places that "Society" hasn't reached...

Thank God the money grabbers don't want it ALL '-'

And That is The ONLY reason...

  • Tell me how you cant like muppets & Cash in one room?

    Your mom didn;t breastfeed you?

  • This takes me back to my childhood! I remeber my parents listening to the great Johnny Cash and my brothers & sister and I waatching The Muppet Show!! What a Treat for me today!!

  • man i wish i knew who johnny cash was before he died.

  • When I was in college, a local TV station used to air old "Muppet Shows" @ 6 PM Sunday. A few of my buddies and I would get all blazed up and watch every week.

One week, they aired this episode, which I had never seen before. You have no idea how awesome this clip is if you weren't high the first time you saw it.

  • @IJivers I'll bet you i know exactly how awesome this clip is even though i ain't high.

  • What about Elvis, yeauxxx?

  • When Jim Henson died....the world died a little too.

  • Very true, I was in boot camp when it happened.... for some reason my RDC (navy drill instructor) told us...... I quietly cried inside

  • @expostfactum so right

  • i agree. when frank oz dies, it will be just that much more sad.

  • @expostfactum i agree 100% i had an ear to ear grin watchin this....henson was a cool cool guy

  • @expostfactum they had kermitt sitting on his coffin with the words written "i've lost my voice".

  • @expostfactum Amen!

  • @expostfactum Jim Henson?

  • @Spyflugan91 Jim Henson created the Muppets.

  • @Spyflugan91 Jim Henson was Kermit the frog and he also created the muppets.

  • a lot.

  • @tdevlin88 I agree......now

  • @expostfactum when jim henson died, part of all our childhoods died with him,he took part of our soul and beeing with him,we'll all mis him,the world will never be the same again

  • @expostfactum Thank you for that - I would only differ in that the world died, in my humble opinion, quite a LOT!!

  • It would be great if they could bring back The Muppet Show! But I guess without Jim Henson running it, it wouldn't be the same.

  • It would be better if they could bring back Johnny cah!!! What a legend.

  • Yeah, it's like I heard that The Muppet "Wizard of Oz" was terrible. How is that even possible? I assume its because Jim Henson wasn't around for it...

  • Everything after Jim's passing just wasn't the same. He brought an inspired energy to it that is lacking now.

  • Dylan, Cash, Berry and Nelson, The Big Four of 20th Century American Music.

  • @yeauxxx Dyan and Cash definitly...nelson? yeah but berry??? I agree with itarare..i think Elvis should be up there...

  • I like how Johnny Cash was a serious performer who didn't take himself too seriously (as demonstrated here). R.I.P Mr. Cash.

  • 3:17 XD

  • love the hairy banjo guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hell Yeah, he looks like Joaquin Phoenix...

  • lol, didn't he play Johnny in the movie?

  • Johnny Cash + The Muppets=two great tastes that go great together.
