I dunno about CBC but for fench language broadcaster Radio-Canada sets the standard for quality programming and it is the least "biased" source of information politically and in terms of private sector/conglomerate influence.
Obviously, if you're into "E" tv and reality shows or cartoons... you won't find what you're looking for...
I love the CBC - it's about the only good radio on my dial, I also listen to satellite radio it costs $180 a year. But for the CBC to cost $34 a year--> well I get much more value out of the CBC thats only .093 cents a day... I can just hear the "as it happens theme" in my head now :)
34 dollars a person breaks down to 600 million for English TV and 400 Million for French. One. Billion. Dollars. For that One Billion Dollars, we get TV and Radio that most of the population of Canada does not watch. That's not value, that's waste.
I love the CBC, warts and all. I used to listen to Radio 2 most of the time until all of the changes a couple of years ago. Now CBC Radio 3 is the music of my life. There is so much great Canadian music out there. I went out and bought a sattelite radio just so that I could take Radio 3 with me in the car, so I guess it costing me a bit more than $34 a year. It's worth it!!
I got a great idea for Canadian content....Muskoka Graffitti...late 60's early 70's with all the rock and roll you can handle....High Performance....just do it......great promo
She's not perfect and I'll be the first to complain, but it truly is outstanding what CBC/Radio-Canada is able to do on a parliamentary grant that amounts to the third worst-funded pubcaster in the western world. More than ever, the CNR of our day.
I have to say I'm a little bias, the French programming is more interesting than the English. More original Canadian(Quebecois) programs. I would pick Radio-Canada over CBC any day.
What's your first? SRC? Just wondering cause I know the french Radio-Canada is way more original than the CBC. Lots of its shows are sold all over the planet. Must be the Québec touch.

I've never seen such a crappy selection of Tv shows in my life. Nice to see my tax dollars are going to good use.

$34 for what exactly, pay-TV?

Still love them both though.
