And as for Venus vs Maria at Stanford, Maria's serve is no excuse, I'm sure she wouldn't have come back if she didn't think he shoulder was up to it, and she had already played the French Open and Grass-court season. Sharapova was young, fearless and pretty confident in 2004, and surprised A LOT of players on tour (including Venus and Serena) in what was pretty much her break-through year. Although after this, the Williams Sisters have always come prepared for her (well at least in the majors) and have never really allowed her to win consistently against them again.

@KFactor93 Well no one can or has consistenly dealt with them so it's not really a terrible thing. Sharapova has had good wins over them before so she's obviously capable and willing. That's feat of it's own. The only one really sticking it to the Williams rite now is Clijsters. She's beaten Serena and Venus the last two times each.

Serena has a 6-2 head to head because she's played Maria more times.

Venus has an equal head to head, winning the last two matches. Throughout their head to head, Venus has edged closer and closer to defeating Maria on hardcourt until she comprehensively did at Stanford.

Venus has Maria figured out, the more they play, the more that head to head is going to go away from Maria into the distance.

IMO the played enough till now..and please are you counting the match at Stanford when Maria was still recovering and she couldn't get a first serve in..!Did you actually see the match I watched it live and I saw maria playing really good and If maria would have her serve there Venus would have gone Out..come one Bartoli beat Venus in the finals cause she had a serve..!And about Venus figuring out maria Yeah just like she did in Huai Hin this year right????

Since 2007 Maria has a serve when she plays opponents that are already beaten when they are out on court. She doesnt have a serve when a player is pressuring her. As a Maria fan, you must know that and you do, but you're too indenial to accept it.

Venus lost to Marion because Venus played like rubbish! She creamed Maria and Elena because she was better. She lost because Marion was better. Has nothing to do with a serve. Its not like having a serve automatically wins you a match like

And Huai Hin was an exhibition. Maria beat Venus there because, it was an exhibition. I seem to remember her losing in the first round when someone put pressure on her serve. FACT. Like I said, you're in denial if you believe otherwise.

maria used to play well against venus, but right now venus owns her. she won a lot of the early matches, but lately venus has been great. venus is a more complete player compared to maria. i like maria, but if you break down both of their games, youll see that venus has the better serve, groundies, and volley. the only thing that maria would probably be better on is the mental aspect of her game. but place them at center court in wimbledon, and maria looks mediocre compared to venus.

Totally disagree. Maria has the better serve (when her shoulder is healthy) and the more consistent groundstrokes. Venus is too inconsistent. The reason Venus beat Maria twice at Wimbledon is because she is a better mover. The grass covers up her weaknesses well (the second serve and forehand) so she matches Maria's power. Venus beat Maria at Stanford last year because Maria couldn't serve.

Maria has had ample time to sort her shoulder out, to rest it, since it's been a problem for her since 2007, it's not Venus' fault she creamed her in Stanford.

Venus' mistake was to come back so soon in 2004 after her Sisters death, it resulted in early losses and loss of confidence throughtout the year. This is a "weak" Venus Williams, here in Zurich 2004.

Her shoulder isn't the issue, it's her serve. Her shoulder is perfectly healthy as far as I know, but she has yet to find comfort with her serve. You're now putting words in my mouth. Maria has also taken time to sort out her shoulder issues. Remember, she had surgery and missed 10 months.

I said they own her now lol. Venus & Maria's H2H is actually 3-3 but they dont include their exhibition tournament in Hong Kong in 2008.

In 2004, Venus had her worst performance wise year in her career and Maria beat her fair and square back then. In Miami 2005 kinda same thing. Then Venus played amazing tennis again at Wimby 05. Then in their 2007 Miami match both played terrible and it was anyone's tbh. Since then Venus has won their last 2 meetings at Wimbledon 2007 and Hong Kong 2008.
