Does this simply lead to Missing Without Action and a substitute attraction for covert violations across broders of Nations that may thus fall and, war decared, casualties that no one would notice anymore than a stockmarket heaven where daily grind bread were leavened? This man says no more war but is it more, in its seclusion of proof, more delusion than sooth?
love peter, love sting...just dont understand the "we will save the world" stuff...just like bono, and all the rest....life will not change my friends.....politics will always rule the land, sorry to say...every politician must have been a musician...they must have got tired of being played, got fed up with the back stabbing, and lies...then they wanted to up the game !!! all the best my friends...
This performance is the reason I got into Peter Gabriel, I saw this when I was 10 years old. Next day I ran out to buy Melt.... one of my favorite records ever.
Peter Gabriel & STING are the most creative & revolving music artists in my lifetime...im age 50 now, both artists made my life rich ,relaxed & powerful with peace into my heart through their music since they began it...LIIVING / EXISTENCE without music is impossible for me
An amazing song. This live version confirms the benefit of a harder guitar sound here. Peter is so tuned into political / social / historical issues - respect is due. Classy piece of video. Check out Not One Of Us, for pure PG magic !

thats how this song should have been written in the first place.... Gabriels original version is too weak,,, its the perfect example of how strong lyrics get squeezed through bad music,,,, like most of the songs by dylan,,, the music and dylans voice just dont do the m justice...
this is how gabriel performed the song live various other times without sting though. Most of his songs become more rock and less pop live. Gabriel always has great bands to make his music come even more to life.
@rira0007 and what a fookin great job he does of this otherwise mundane beat.... love this version, Beats all the others HANDS DOWN!!! remember watching it live (before internet) and thinking whos that guy with the great chops holding this beat!
just to clarify an earlier post. the drummer is not manu katche- it's vic culiuto. if you want to see manu in action, check out: peter gabriel live games without frontiers live multi-cam 1993 related video.
Musicians and politics do not mix. I know this video is old but this is where it started. Perform and stay out of politics. If you stay involved it will ruin you. The Stink does not help.......JMO
Nah, of course musicians and politics mix. Artists in general mix with politics. Because if you take out the artists, who's left? Politicians, that's who. And do you want to trust the fate of the world to a bunch of politicians?
Yeah, and last time I checked, isn't it kind of a good thing that people with fame, power, and the spotlight are trying to bring issues like these to light?
Ludwig Van Beethoven was asked: "When not speaking of music, what is your favorite subject to converse about?" Beethoven answered tersely: "Politics, nothing but politics !"
Well-played Stadium Rock, unfortunately it doesn't suit the song. This has none of the original, creepy allure of the studio version (and no Kate Bush on backup!). A pity, as it's one of Gabriel's best.
awesome!!! Den haag, Netherlands , 9th may 1991: Peter Gabriel and David Rhodes his guitarist joined Sting on stage during a show on his soul cages tour .
This day , It was a special show in benefit of the kurdes.
Doing this song without the lyrics "Jeux sans Frontieres" is just wrong.

Peter replicates a Nazi March. Kind of like we have in the US today.

@dubya12825
That's nothing like a US march. It's actually more like a british march,. Considering he's british.
Try again hater.

@dubya12825 Odd comment, considering he talks about the Kurds, who we provided greater protection and autonomy by getting rid of Saddam Hussein...

totally disagree, this version is overblown and pompous whereas the original is stripped down and stark as Gabriel intended

I'm in love with Peter's voice, and old Genesis. But this didn't impress me. Too forced.
bajslys 3 years ago
I agree, I'm a big fan, but his voice here isn't very good as in the Japan Hurricane Irene first concert.
najseba 2 years ago
You can't really hear him that well, can you? It's like he's not putting a lot of force in his voice.
