  • this is not Matt

    i'm sure

but this boy plays piano too well

  • NOT MATT BELLAMY!!!!!!!

  • i was looking 4 matt bellamy, damn, this is like being rick roll'd

  • ..and you have come this far in 18 months? Some people have talent! Your tempo is perfect. If it were played faster, many of the finer musical points would go up in smoke. Very well done.

  • i also expected M.Bellamy....:P

    very nice!:)

  • not Matt Bellamy....

  • hey it doesnt say it was him

  • lmfao I thought it was Matt Bellamy !

    ..wow you're good.

  • @BrokenSodaMachine u rly thought that was matt bellamy????? than that means u r not a TRUE muse fan

  • me too untill is saw your comment ahhaa

  • Oh, God so did i!

  • Well done!

I've heard this rushed too many times + you got it right for my ears.

  • awesome!

  • i really kinda doubt he only has been playing for 18 months. has he been playing other instruments before the piano? if so then i could believe the 18 months thing, cause he would have built up his reading and fingers. but if piano is his first instrument then how the hell did he play this and get to this level with out destorying his hands?

  • I think you misunderstand the aspects of playing piano. In order to play well, this 'building up' of the fingers you are talking about is not really the physical process that's important, its actually how your brain gets used to the manipulation of the fingers that are important. And relaxation is a big part of the process.

Piano can be physically demanding but 'destroying' your hand will only happen if one approaches piano with a bad and stressful(physically) practicing method.

  • he is a natural? how does ray charles play blind or beethoven play deaf, or zichy publishing works for only using 1 hand? some people are gifted you ignorant unappreciative child

  • Presto, Presto.

    TopNotes, TopNotes.

  • Very Beautyfull play

  • lol i was expecting to see matt bellamy :P

isnt that matt but he is still good

    nice job dude

  • one year, your kidding me!

i've been playing for more than 10 years now and this is still hard for me. besides, his performance is really good, too.

can't imagine what it would be like if he'd started the same age as i did.

  • Almost anything is possible when it comes to musical talent and with determination.

  • It is possible, I learnt Fantaisie-Impromptu only 1 year after my first piano class.

  • I'd like to see you play that. You can still spot a beginner (not you, in general) by hearing them play "Twinkle-Twinkle". Hitting the right notes isn't enough. Real technique (intelligent musicality, control, etc. take years to practice and master, even when your name is G.Gould). For instance, the boy in this video did a good job, but his touch and rhythm were uneven, the phrasing naive and immature, etc. Time and practice will fix those, of course :-)

  • well anyway, if u learn ur technique, fingerings, notes, and is familiar with all that is needed for pieces of this level of difficulty, it is possible.

  • You are very talented, well done, I too play the piano, lets play to the glory of God :), and hey, dosn't it show how inspired Bach was, its mind boggling

  • there's no way anyone can perform this piece after only 18 moths of piano experience...if that were the case, he'd be a lot more talented than Mozart and Beethoven combined...still an excellent performance!

  • Yes there is. It all depends on how quick you learn and how much time you spend practicing. I am a very quik learner on most musical instruments but I just dont spend loads of time playing them even though I know i should lol. But I could learn that in 6 months if I could be bothered :P He is obviously a very talented musician and has the parents to fund his ambition. unlike alot of people but thats great, I wish i could play that well keep it up!! (Y)

  • i agree...theres no way.

  • I've played for 20 months and I'm playing this. Of course, and I am orders of magnitude worse than most pianists. I am just dedicated to practicing.

  • when a six year old kid can compose music, can a kid of 13 learn in 18 months bach 971 !!!!

  • i don't believe it! not even 1 bit! how is it that a freshman at piano can play a diploma piece? liar!

  • SOOO TALENEDTED!!!!

haha, u played really really well

    5 stars

but perhaps a little bit faster, its not allegro, its presto. but besides, ur techniques are wonderful

  • not sure i believe the "18 months part" but good hand position, the beginning sounded good! :]

  • Wonderful for any length of study!

  • You got my 5 stars! :)

  • Bravo! For just 18 months of playing, you are amazing! :)

  • excellent. Keep up the playing

  • wow, i like this a lot :) u are precise, good job!

  • Your playing sounds amazing. Keep it up!

  • bravo Matthew !!

  • Excellent performance! You play with your heart :)

  • Bravo! :)

    -Celia

  • Thanks!

    -Matthew

  • Congratulations on an awesome performance!!

I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Jeff Li from NEC and I met you all last year. I found your video by chance, and it's really nice. Amazing for 18 months! Hope all of your successes continute, and hope to see you next fall.

  • Hi Jeff, thank you. Yes, we remember you.

Congratulations on the PLE3 with honors! Maybe, in the future, we could do a piano duet -- just for fun.

  • One of the most mechanical performances of the piece of ever heard. But still entertaining due to your age.

  • It's not mechanical, not emotional either, but there are definitely jumps in tempo.

  • you. are. good!

  • this is very good. Excellent work. Keep going.

  • Wow, I have like 3 different versions of this piece, but I can safely say that this performance is good as all the professionally recorded records.

  • Nice point/counter-point with crescendos/diminuendos differentiating the voices in this concerto. Your playing of this piece was excellent.
