  • im confused in another video ending with the "mountain top" bit king preluded it with the "somewhere i read...." bit. does a definitave version of this speech exist?

  • the actual speech is 40 mins. long bro ... the only speech of mlk that you'll find on here in its entirety is the "I Have A Dream" speech.

  • The middle of the speech is missing

  • February 1st 1960 a little known black college started the fire wave that is the fuse that got the civil rights movement going. and the college students he was talking about came from MY college NORTH CAROLINA AGRICULTURAL AND TECHNICAL STATE UNIVERSITY! thank you dr king for recognizing us! when no one else would.

  • The rave remix is more inspiring.

  • WOW! Thanks for posting.

  • Whata magnificent speech!!!! Priceless.

  • Trall-tayne-la?

  • Mr. Bobby eyebrows. I pray that the god u serve remove the veil of ingnorance from your eyes and spare the rest of us the embarressment of your stupidity.

  • Obama is to be inaugurated tommorow. Despite what was said by previous comments, I don't think MLK's dream has been fulfilled. I do hope that President Obama takes us a few steps closer to the promised land, though. He is an excellent -- even superb -- orrator, and a mover of people, almost a revolutionnary, but he's got nothing on MLK... so moving.

  • never judge a man based on his cover but what he does with his time in office

obama so far is just another man and we dont know what he will really do

i say wait and see and then judge him if he what you thought he was or is not

  • At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, I agree with you. That's sort of what I was getting at in the second sentence. But yes, we should judge him (Obama)mostly on his political opinion... he is a politician after all... and not so much by his race. He ran mostly as a democrat, not a man of racially mixed background... I mean he didn't put so much emphasis on that last point... so we shouldn't really make such a big deal about it.

Being a Leftie, I think I'll agree with him most of the time

  • However being Canadian and a leftie, he might be too right wing for me... so you're right... time will tell. For me, I hope he 1. Frees Omar Khadr, 2. gets out of Iraq, but doesn't force Canada to commit more in Afghanistan, 3. Not screw up Canada while trying to fix his economy and the mess left for him by republicans., 4. Not demonize Palestine in its conflict with Israel. I know that's kindof Canada-centric except for the last one, but whatevs. I have high hopes for him. Go Obama.

  • what i find funny is that black people are saying its about time to jave a black person as a president

BUt the fact remains that black people are only half way there since Obama is not just black but mixed race BLACK/WHITE

SO BLACK PEOPLE ARE ONLY HALF WAY THERE hehe

  • Sara Palin is missing her speech writer. The Republican party needs you.

  • This was directed @bobbeyebrows. The intolerant are missing a mascot.

  • I would also like to thank you for posting this!

  • I am my brother's keeper.

  • The beginning!

  • MLK is an INCREDIBLE speaker!

  • I rooted for the Eagle but the Cardinals won.

Maybe its because of the Google: Jeff Fisher "A Tribute to Pat Tillman"

Update on Nazis for Jesus film crew.

This morning 10 gaffers from Austria took me out for breakfast. As Jane says it was "YUMMY"

I also had the Trinity Baptist Church pray for the 35 kids murdered at BayPoint School and then I spoke at the pulpit as well praising MLK who blessed me 22 times in 1966 & 1967 & praising Jesus the Christ forever also.

    Google Jeff Fisher MLK

  • I'm looking for the speech of MLK that the band "Downset" uses in the "Intro" of their Album "Do we speak a dead language". Whoever could give me the speech or a link where I can find it please write me. thx

  • at the 8 min. mark it is the most POWERFUL to me and it just makes you feel good.

  • Thanks for posting this Gorillla -- good stuff. Even today his words are very powerful and on point.

  • So much power in his voice

  • its a great discourse, the most impotant, your convicction, King had clear your faiht and the mission in the earth. He studied and lived in the holy bible, in jesus.

  • Thank You for posting Gorrrillla.

  • Yes Indeed!!! Great video!!! Awesome!!!

  • I'm glad you posted this Gorrrillla. He was one of the better speechwriters of the 20th century. His speeches so eloquent. Many people use his same style for writing speeches still to this day!! Thank you MLK Jr. R.I.P.

  • i wonder how much was written and how much came from this heart.

  • Every time I hear this speech I can't help but think what this world would be like if Dr. King continued to open our eyes. He was so influential and emotional in his speeches that you can feel the passion of his words.

  • Did you notice it has been 40 years since this his death and speech.

Can you find the # 40 in bible or the scroll.

Black people that came on transatlantic slave trade are the ancient Israelite here is proof {Deut 28:68}.

Yahweh will scatter you among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth; and there you shall serve other gods, which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone. Deuteronomy 28:64. Learn you true history and about Yahweh

  • Can you please explain your interpretation of what YAHWEH is saying in that particular verse. Thanks and may YAHWEH keep and Bless you!

  • It's as if he knew his death was coming...Rest his soul.

  • One wishes every day that Martin Luther King

had lived on and continued to lend his presence and his wisdom to American politics.

  • u kno for a man to stand up to say sumthin like dat u would have to have God's spirit within u. no fear of death or any man u gotta have God by ur side

  • A truly amazing speech. Incredibly powerful. Thanks for posting.

  • I beleive that Reverend King's dream has not yet fully been fulfilled. To the unity of races and the breaking of the bonds of racism yes, but the unity he wanted for Christian's still must be fulfilled!

  • what he's talking about is waaaay bigger than Obama. He said "we'll get to the promised land, my eyes have seen the glory of the Lord" not of our race, not even of our nation OF THE LORD....

  • Obama is making his dream live im sure king new that november the 5th would come

  • I love this speech. He's an inspiration to me. The promised land is coming.

  • We made it to the promise land Frat. and you were right there with us.

  • I want to believe that I would have given my life for this man.

  • I'm proud to be an American again for the first time in years. Thank God people cared enough to vote.

  • God bless this immortal. His wisdom has led directly to Nov. 4, 2008. Hail to the election of Barack Obama! Another giant leap for America and for all mankind.

  • we have reached the mountain top

  • a true moment in time wow

  • martin luther king jr,this was your dream. Barack Obama, this was wat you saw over the mountain top.God bless your soul.

  • He was a TRUE American!

And he believed America as a great place still

able to grow beyond what is was.

  • OBAMA!!!!!!!

  • Yes powerful speakers as any. Martin & Malcolm are Smiling and Watching Over Barack. And basking at their children, "as we will come out in force, in a way that has never been seen before."""" Let us not forget. A vote for obama is voting and living the dream.

  • his dreamis going to come true just remember to vote november 4, 2008 we can make a change

  • AWSEOME WELL DONE

  • Words are to few to express my thanksgiving to God for giving us Dr. King. I ask each of you to pray for President Obama and his family that he will follow the wisdom of God in every decision that he makes. and that he surrounds himself with Godly men and women to help fulfill the plan of God in History. YES WE CAN AND YES WE DID

  • wow powerful were him and malcolm x good friends?

  • R.I.P Brother Martin Luther King. I cant wait to get to heaven where all the good and faithful will be reunited. I know youll be there my Brother and Im looking forward to meeting you. Your speeches and sermons inspires me and urges me even more to get my heart right with God so on that great day when Jesus returns I'll hear the words: "Well done thou good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I'll make thee ruler over many things: enter into the joy of thy Lord"

  • i will give jews a great credit for helping african americans during fight for civil right.

  • in process of memorizing kwl :-)

  • RIP

  • Rest in Peace, Martin. Your Dream has come true 45 years later. Some may not want it, but most do.

This is our time, this is our moment. And together we will write the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea... YES WE CAN!!!

    'Obama'

  • you know what, Martin Luther King Jr was just a person, just human, he was like us all. maybe he wasnt the same color as you and me, but we are all humans, and that is enough. he was brave enough to stand up not only against 1 nation, but most nations around the world. he made a statement, and he was a major part of this world. there are still problems but he made things better. he is a inspiration to me and many other people. we need a new person though, like MLK to finish what MLK started.....

  • this man was a great man, a great speaker, and a great help for the black people in the US, and across the world... and any man, women, or child who oppose, and say othervise, should read a book... read a book about one of the men that may have changed history more than any other man...

  • THANK YOU .

  • when he says "our sick white brothers" i cant help but feel a certain distancing from King and the audience... some laugh and jest at the comment.. because he refers to whites.. *sigh*.. even then most never really understood the mans passion.. he holds no hate nor prejudice

  • why did i get a thumbs down for my comment? reply to me if u want to dispute my comment.. dont be a coward

  • I hear what you are saying man. There is a thumbs up for you.

  • Ah, now I realize you likely do not remember writing this comment.. But it would be foolish to say that our white brothers were NOT sick. He is not saying white people as a race are sick, but here in America we had/have some very sick people..

  • MLK was human... but stop to think what other human beings have done what he has to try to help his fellow man. Man is flawed and MLK knew that.. he was no saint.. simply a man determined to change the world

  • Dr. King had the biggest set in history. He faced the Klan, the faced Jim Crow, he faced the government of several states...and he had the power to tell them, with a small voice

    "No."

  • People in their deaths become martyrs ...

Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was more than that. Yes, in his death his role has been focused-on and likely exaggerated. This is not historically unique, especially in a movement.

But to discount what he did actually do... especially in comparing U.S. Presidents to a black citizen who didn't have equal rights. Is insane.

MLK is one of my heroes. I am fully aware of the inaccuracy of the modern image of him. But that doesn't discount what he did.

  • jeffbrown u mention how jeffereson did thinGs to compare to mlk's efforts which is lauGhable because kinGs efforts came at a time when the difficulty level was much hiGher for a black man who couldnt even sneeze at that time without GettinG killed

  • The line from the student's letter, "I'm so happy that you didn't sneeze," (4:32) is simple yet profound. I cry almost every time I hear it.

  • What new drugs are you on Jeffy? What presidents have done a tenth of what Dr. King has done? (Ok, Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, who all had slaves, still have blacks labeled as 3/5's man). Next, you will probably have Bush knighted.

  • Lincoln didn't own slaves...

  • I'm paraphrasing here, but Frederick Douglass said that Lincoln was the only white man he had met in all of the abolitionist leaders he had met that did not treat him differently because of the color of his skin.

  • There are some interesting parallels btwn Lincoln and Obama. In private, Lincoln was said to be colour-blind, but if you read some of his speeches and documents, he adopted some very pragmatic (and what to us would sound really racist) positions, for example on miscegenation. Obama is also highly pragmatic - he knows he has to be, dealing with some of the dumber elements of the American public.

  • Yes, I am aware of this. I read "Team Of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. He was a brilliant and pragmatic politician, but also a great man. Another example of political pragmatist and great man I hope Obama follows in the footsteps of would be Bobby Kennedy.

  • I'm not worried about anything

    I'm not fearing any man

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord....

  • JeffBrown8 your point is well taken but what you don't seem to understand is it is far less effective and instructional much less profound to effect the procedure of a nation than it is to convict the soul of it.

  • the reports of King using church funds for white prostitutes and abusing or beating them...i think it safer to judge based on his moral character and the things that HE has said and HE has done. I do agree with you, no one man deserves his own holiday, especially as i believe you also pointed out that presidents haven't even been given this treatment...yeah charges of beating white prostitutes just sounds too conveniant for to be true, i don't know?

  • I highly doubt this is true. Many things have been said about Dr. King. Some even go as far as to call him a communist

  • How can you say he doesn't deserve a holiday, Who are you to judge him? Who are you to judge anyone? Who and what made you the defining moral standard for such matters? "THOU SHALT NOT JUDGE" your bible says this also

  • i'm not judging MLK as being morally inferior to me..my point is that there have been many things done in order to secure or increase our civil rights- jefferson making sure we had the bill of rights.. habeus corpus.. separation of church and state.. all kinds of historical precedents recognizing our God given rights-- that's more important than one man representing a whole people group-dna evidence shows that all human beings come from the same origin.. let's celebrate civilrightsforall

  • Very inspiring. We definitly need more leaders with vision.

  • Because that one man was a great man who faced down beatings, imprisonment, and death every day in a mission to uplift the poor and oppressed.

The politicians who finally gave blacks their inherent liberties only did so because of King's peaceful revolution.

  • The only presidents that deserves a day would be FDR or Washington MAYBE JFk. Other then that BLAH. Leave MLK his day he earned it.

  • the man is martyr for his cause, thats why he gets his own day... you shouldnt try to change a good thing that does not involve you. were you even alive in 1968?

  • were you alive in 1968? they made it a holiday in the 80s..

listen, i respect him .. but it would be more fruitful if we honored him AND others on one day that honors civil rights.. and reminds us.. because that is the core of our nation-liberty.. freedom of speech, religion, assembly, bear arms, etc.. i just think there's an unbalance and too much pandering now as a tradition.. please no one accuse me of racism.. this is an observation.. National Civil Rights Day...

  • wow! really...wow

but as i hear the whole speech i cant but think that he knew that his days were numbered, he knew the threats were becoming more real...MLK what a great man!

  • One is not born to be a racist, but one's decision to teach the one person they say they love how to hate others. It's sad, but true... What will happen when whites are the minority in 2050. Until you have walked in my shoes...

  • white people are already the minority...therez only 28% white people r somehin like that...its strange couse i have never seen a large group of people of a different skin colour...but im learning mandarin so im set...lol

  • If your statistic is true, it will refer to world population, not US population. US population has a much higher percentage of white people.

  • minority by defintion is not merely the actual arithmetic number of individuals but the dominant group that controls wealth and power. With that definition racism and prejudice will continue to live since one group will not want looseit dominance and will continue to replace themselves wen they retire with people from that said group.

  • I don't understand how one has such hate for a person who simply want the same rights as everyone else. I don't understand how one race can actually believe that they are superior to another race, it is so sad. Racism is taught, it

  • tears in my eyes every time I hear this speech. just great!! Peace

  • This speech has given me chills.

What hell is with the tag???

  • It's sort of cryptic to listen to his words. He was not afraid and that to me is the strongest and most courageous message he sent to people. Do not be afraid and you will be free to define your own freedom and truth.

    Amen Dr. King!

  • Uhh ... What's with the tags?

  • He IS a gift from God

  • wonderful 5/5 Thank you...I'm a white woman from the North that says Thank you Dr. King...w/o you we all couldn't bring rasism to an end.

Were all equal in the eyes of God...Blacks and whites must never forget our history in the USA...The time is now to stand up and embrace all colors and races here. If not Dr. King's message and what our constitution was built on means nothing

  • Sends shivers through our spine even after forty years. And indeed he made it to the Promised Land ...

  • Thank you for a posting this. This speech is too powerful for me to make a comment worthy of this speech. I am as proud as I am humbled.

  • His words continue to get louder and louder, praise be to God for the gift he gave us... RIP MLK

  • Thank You So Much for this post!! 40 years ago today he was taken from us physically. BUT HIS SPIRIT AND WHAT HE STOOD FOR WILL NEVER DIE!!!!

  • One of the realest black men ever R.I.P and Thanks for MLK Jr. he opened the doors.

  • Forty years ago today (April 4, 1968), King was killed.

  • He was truly a great leader. We need more people like him today-- also we need to listen to the things he said and believed. We can NEVER forget what he stood for.

  • This speech is an exemplification of how great of a leader Martin Luther King truly was. Even though he never got to the promise land that he fought so fiercely for, he still told each and everyone of us that despite the probability of his death we one day shall get to the promise land.

  • Here's the awesome thing, though. MLK Jr. did, indeed, make it to the promised land. He's chillin with Jesus right now, which was his foremost passion. Gorrr, thanks for posting these speeches.

  • first time I actually heard his speech in whole...Truly amazing. That was a man that another man could truly get behind. NO ONE can compare to him, even today.

  • MLK was a man who paid the ultimate price for the courage of his convictions. His message is needed more today than ever before.

  • 40 years today and still POWERFUL...

  • thank you for posting these. i am happy to have them, to share with many others on my blog.

    thank you.

  • A prophet. he knows what lies ahead and he hands the movement over to the people. he knows what lies ahead.

  • Wonderful inspiring and very moving speech.

  • i hold DR.KING close to my heart...i adore and cherish him...he saved me in every way a person can be saved

  • how inspiring and full of love. This is the kind of leadership for all Americans that we should celebrate. Let's us not full ourselves that the hateful speech of Jeremaih Wright speks to any American, black or white. HATE is HATE and those who support it should not represent America.

  • The speech is delivered with true feeling and purpuse and most importantly without any anger...making him a true legend, and an inspiration to us all.

  • It is sad that in today's world people that use religious references are seen either as fanatics or lilly livered. Dr King was niether he was as proud to be a Christian as he was to be black. Alleluia indeed, God Bless.

  • nonviolence nonviolence nonviolence

  • What about Ali? and Mal X? The question is overlooking aat what will happen to those who rise to these powerful days of challege! Never forget "I am a nithth grade white girl, and have heard and

MLK from A Great Republican Mayor ..sick white bothers..and those who dont know this lord..."forgivness is slow but steady" no its strait to the head.. let me reach the mtn TOP!

  • Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!

  • This is breath taking to here a great man with a message of hope and inspiration to a nation that needs healing for all our wrong doings. Peace & Blessings

    ThankYou

    Dr. King & Family

  • thank you for posting the whole speech. If you guys actually see the tape of the speech he almost collapses at the end of the speech. He was assasinated the next day and I think he knew it....

  • Of course, anyone can see that.

  • He knew, that is the part that really upsets me the most when I see that speech. I wish the video was on here. So sad...

  • Thank you MLK for showing us the real Jesus. Now if only we followed Him the way you did.

  • Thank you Kevin so much for this Speech. Currently I'm listening to a 'cut-down' version in English, and now I can listen to all of Doctor King's moving and final speech. It's amazing to me sometimes how miracles come. In New York when he was stabbed, he said that the knife barely missed his Aorta, and for me it's a scary thought of how close to death he was, and what our country may be like if that knife had went a little further. So Once again thank you for making this full speech available.

  • Well its obvious he was no perfect man.

There is no good man, no not even one. Yet I know of only a few men ever in history and none after this man that has ever stood up for the poor and was man enough to continue like a Spartan even in the face of being hated by many in the greatest nation on Earth.

Most would tuck their tails and hide with an untold amount of people wishing death upon you everyday

  • Very nice video. Touching and soothing to the soul. I was asked at work yesterday why I did'nt take the day off to celebrate MLK Day. I told them that I am celebrating. He fought for my right to work alongside you !!

  • Thank you Kevin for allowing us to enjoy this beautiful speech. Dr. King was an incredible man. I'm sure not only am I speaking for myself, but for people all over the world, you Kevin are also off the hook for allowing the people to experince the great speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thank you again

  • I Am Flattered, Thank You.

    Kevin I

  • awesome

  • That was a very nice speach Gorrrillla! thanx for putting SO MUCH EFFORT AND THE AWESOME PICTURES IN!!!

    From Dad,

Thanks for the material to introduce my 9 yr old to the man, speach, and moment in history that needed his strength. It will always be revlent.

  • even now...post mortem...he still manages to inspire...thank you Jesus for this man of God.

  • thanks for providing the full version of this speech. i really appreciate it.

  • You Are More Than Welcome; From Me, To You. {Kevin I}

  • if you watch the whole video he almost collapses when he hugs the guy afterwards. I think he knew...he felt it...he was tired. I get emotional everytime I listen to it. "longevity has it's place, but I'm not concerned about that now.."

  • It's amazing... it seems as though he felt the need to comfort people in the event of his death... it's like he knew...

  • I Noticed That Too. {Kevin I}

  • Who's Kevin I? Is that the fellow who posted this, or who made it?

  • Yes. I Am Kevin, The First (I), The Creator And Proprietor Of This Material.

    {Kevin I}

  • I've heard a piece of this speech before, but I really appreciate the opportunity to hear the whole thing now. Thanks for putting it together.

  • From Me, to You. :)  {Kevin I}

  • only A REAL LIVE HYPROCRATE WOULD SAY SOMETHIN LIKE THAT... HOW DARE YOU? U FEEL SAFE TALKIN BEHIND THAT MONITOR DONT YOU...

  • No man is perfect, and few in modern times have reached into their souls as deep as Martin. Take from him the lessons of courage conviction and love and forgive him of his trespass.

  • Why try to discredit a great national hero? Why try to break down the ideals that make us greater? I guess you have the emotional intellect of a mean-spirited eight-year old. WHY?

  • I don't know if MLK cheated on his wife. maybe he did. But which man is free of sin? I know I'm not. I can't think of any man who is, or ever was. MLK knew sin. I know this. I face this. I accept this.

But I also know, face, and accept that MLK was a man with a priceless vision for mankind. The beauty and wisdom of that vision is not diminished one iota by his sins any more than it is diminished by his stinky armpits or his stinky ass.

  • Good, I hope he did have extra marital affairs, sounds fun. Doesn't change the fact that he made the world a better place. To late, Ha Ha.

  • There Is No-Need For Negativity? Why In The World Would There Be? {Kevin I}

  • I wish so much that the entire speech were available online. The power of his words overwhelm the senses, and uplift the soul

  • U probably know now but "Kevin" has the whole speech. U can come back on here and find part 1.

  • I'm crying...

  • Very powerful words.
