Huge mistake to let Ben Reilly die in Revelations saga. I never liked him as Spidey but all was set to make a new cool superhero and to have a new improved Parker/SM story. There wasn't any aunt as a burden cause she died well in a decent story, there was a baby on the way, a new brother to fight along, new excellent villains (Kaine, Judas Traveller, Scrier) but no man they decided to kill BR, resurrect aunt May and Osbourne, let Kaine go, make Traveler and Scrier a pair of fools, Brand New Day.

I actually quit reading Spider-Man shortly after they killed off Ben. At the time, the comics were going in a direction I didn't like. Marvel had cruelly killed off Peter and MJ's unborn baby, brought back Aunt May even though she was laid to rest a few years earlier in a beautifully written story by J.M. DeMatteis and then temporarily killed off MJ. From what I've seen since with the comics, especially with what Quesada has done to the character, I left at the right time.

@Kotlettbengt A bit of double posting by me hre but yes, no matter what the RL reasons for his inventions was he acctualy had a really interesting character arc as well as quiet an impact on spiderman. Him being the new spidey ment Peter could take a leave from herioc while his wife MJ was pregnant and have some of Quesadas much malligned grown up problems, as well as show how he handled acctually not being spidey any longer.

IMHO Ben Reilly was one of my favourite characters and his look was great, costume reflected his more-reckless lifestyle!

Actually, if you read the comics (mainstream marvel not ult) you'll discover that Ben took over as spiderman until he was killed.

During this time Peter actually managed to get his life on track, which actually pleased me since I liked things going right for Peter for a change.

It wasn't to last, however, since norman came back from being impaled on his own glider, killing Ben and forcing Pete back into the superhero business.
