Also, putting diseased(rotten jerusalem artichoke) plants back into the soil promotes disease in plants! The same as you would would put you rose pruning around your roses because the rotting plant material will introduce rose specific disease to you roses. Sama applies to all plants. ALL WASTE MUST BE TAKEN AWAY FROM GROWING AREA AND COMPOSTED FOR FUTURE USE! BTW that rotten artichoke will not grow and you have just introduced artichoke disease and rot into your artichoke garden, not ideal!

Growing in plastic is not ideal due to endocrine disrupters false estrogens and toxic petrochemicals leaching into the soil constantly especially when exposed to sun. Unerstand its hard in the city but there must be better alternatives than plastic.

nice harvest, if you strip the leaves off the yacon the tubers will be bigger. i like using my hands too but i find using a fork so much easier when you have matted roots.
