Yeah you have to light it almost every time, unless it is cherried. It can be an annoyance, but I like pipes a lot cause its a one time purchase that will last forever. You also don't really waste any weed as far as I can tell, cause it doesn't keep burning after your rip. Happy 420.

i prefer to light one side of the bowl and take a hoot, thusly only burning half the bowl. Then you still get half a bowl of green weed to light and enjoy. If you just move the lighter in circles over the whole bowl you will burn off everything good the first hoot, leaving you with a gross 2nd hoot.
