We have had 6 or 7 rabbits over the years. They are wonderful pets. We have had rabbits that lived outside, but in a hutch. They were protected from predators and the elements, and lived long happy lives - they got taken out and played with alot in our screen room. I do not recommend letting your rabbits run around in the yard. They do get very sick fairly easily if they eat something they shouldn't. They also get along with our dog, but that is kind of up to the dog.
my cousins rabbit has lived outside for about 4 or 5 years and shes still alive today so Why should we keep rabbits inside? they are poop machines and very boring. Why not just get a dog or cat :O
if rabbits are poop machines. try buying them something that they can poop on and train them. they are small critters and way to easy for a predator to prey on.
Please don't do it...There's far too many bunnies in shelters that have sparkling personalities...Don't breed them for it takes away homes from shelter bunnies, so if you get the male, I recommend getting one from a shelter, and get him and the female fixed.....
my house is not a good place for small pets.i have 2 baby rabbits.they drop alot of poop.i just put them in a plastic basket.please reply:should i let them free when im awake,or should i just keep them in their cage?
she is NOT naive. she is obviously better educated and informed about rabbits than you guys are. keeping rabbits in a barn stacked in dirty cages with no protection for their sensitive feet is UNcool. most of your bunnies look scared.
my rabbits have a good outdoors home, they have inshulated walls to keep them warm and, rofl ull laught at this but they have real mini beds with matresses, ive trained em to wait for me at 8 befor they go bed to tuck them in and put blancet over them:D
the natural enviroment of a rabbit is OUTSIDE... you can build safe giant cages, which can not be penetrated by any racoons or other predators. and there are vaccines for deseases. how do you think the wild ones manage to survive?!
Sorry ilovequentintarantin but she is right. Rabbits are not safe outside. Years ago people didn't know what they know now. They need to be kept safe and cool. They make wonderful inside pets. I have one and he is the sweetest pet. I wouldn't give him up or put him outside to live.
I love rabbits alot but I think this women forgets that rabbits live outside in nature. If you take proper care of the rabbit they can live a happy healthy life outside. Dont let that detur you from experiences this kind of pet
I love rabbits alot but I think this women that rabbits live outside in nature and if you take proper care of them they can live a happy and healty life outdoors.
i think she's just advocating for keeping your rabbit inside if you're not going to be outside with them and they don't have a secure hutch like yours.
Domesticated rabbits will live several years longer if kept indoors, due to lack of predators, lower stress, and more stable weather conditions. You are also more likely to notice that your rabbit is sick early enough to get it to the vet if you keep it inside with you.
I have two free range house rabbits and we noticed within several hours when one rabbit stopped pooping and were able to get her to the vet. She is perfectly fine now. If we had not done so, she would have died over night.
Great information. I wish more people would consider rabbits as pets, particularly ones from shelters. Bunnies are clean, not noisy, you don't have to walk them, etc. I have bonded pair; both came from the same shelter a year apart. What thornekatt said is accurate. My only problem with them has been chewing on furniture and baseboards/molding. Bitter apple spray or ivory soap bar (on the wood) stops chewing.
i have 8 pet rabbits and they live outside in a giant chicke hutch wich is safe. and I do agree with some living inside. but wtf. she is being so naive. she keeps saying how "dangereous outside is" rabbits prefer the outdoors. thats where they belong. but im not against inside rabbits.
I have to agree with her. You need to keep rabbits inside and safe. I have heard that if they get to hot they die a horrible death. Wake up ilovequentintarantin. They make wonderful inside pets.
I lost a rabbit do to flies laying eggs in the fur of my rabbit. By the time I realized it the eggs hatched and ate my rabbit alive. Obviously I had to put her down, therefore I would NOT recommend anyone keeping rabbits outside. She was a house Rabbit but I let her outside for about a week because the temperature was cooler. The other rabbit caged with her was not affected.
this is a reply to ilovequentintarantion i agree cause rabbits are supposed to live in NATURE! NOT captivated envorments! plus my rabbits in the corner of the yard and SHE LOVES IT cause she likes the space and she has freedom
i have two bunnies and they are awsome, but i have to warn you they are a lot of work! they are more work than my dog. oh if you want one please get it from a shelter!
They're very easy to litter train. They love to urinate in the same place all the time. Their feces are like tiny hard BB's, like in a BB gun? You can vacuum them up.
I am thinking of getting a rabbit for myself and for my business so that everyone can enjoy them.

dogs and cats were originally meant to be outside as well but if you have a rabbit for a pet you should keep it inside just as you would a dog or cat

Rabbits belong outdoors. They cannot live for long inside someone's house.

Most of the facts on this video are completely wrong! My rabbits are healthy and the vet said it is risky to have them spayed.
They live in a hutch outside and we let them out without a run daily.

My daughter has 4 bunnies. One she got for Christmas in 2005; the other 3 she rescued from being put down.
They were abused by their former owners and abandoned, so wouldn't have qualified for adopting into a regular family.
The gray bunny, Dawn, is the shyest of the bunch and won't come out of her cage even when the door is open.
She's really cute though. I think bunnies do the cutest things, like when they wash their face with their paws.

My rabbit uses a litter box in his cage. He
does drop a few pellets when he runs around,
but will only urinate in the box and most of
the feces ends up in the litter box, as well.
