So going by this demo there are two settings, clean and fuzzy. I don't care about any of the effects. Everyone seems to agree that those are low-grade quality. People also seem to be blind to the low-grade 0distortion. Oohh fuzz ...cool! Nope!
Bought a Vox Tonelab EX the other day, returned it the next. It's tone is incomparable to almost any tube amp, and even a lot of SS. The clean tones are alright, the effects are all really cheesy, and the distortion so weak and shitty. Through my amps FX loop, sounds 10x worse than my amp distortion, through the front, just as bad. Only way I could get a decent tone was just recording straight into my computer, but I wanted a live usable pedal. I traded it (+$) at the store for a Fernandes guita
I have an audio inferface ( M-audio profire 610 ) and I want to use this only as guitar multieffect, is it possible? I mean plug it into my profire through jack
@dimeoflo Bro, if i want to use my tonelab including its presets and amp models with my marshall stack, but still keep the tone controls active on the tonelab.. what do you think would be the best way?? i was thinking put the marshalls gain on 1 and the tone pots and volume on 5. Surely this would alow me to stomp from clean to dirty and change my tone....?
I see why analog pedals are still the go despite moves in technology. The amount of white noise and clipping is still too noticeable. At one point there was a total sound cut-out. Makes me sad, as I can't afford a set of proper pedals set up on a proper board. :(
Guys please help me with this one, was just about to buy the Boss ME-25 when a dude told me to check this out, Now i am confused, which one do you guys think is better? I mean tonally, I know its upto each one's taste, but tonally which would be superior in quality. The VoX ST or BOSS ME-25
@fungacide I bet if some current younger artists were paid to endorse this, this would be as popular as a limited turd like POD is. The only good sounds on LINE6's are the ones that imitate vox "Brit Classic" "Brit Blues" etc. I've played for 20 years in all styles and encountered several incarnations of these things.. and found myself flipping thru everything and not liking any of the sounds.. and having to argue with the engineer to please just mic my amp at high volume with ambiant micing.
so inorder to use the USB as an input i have to download the drivers from there website? and once i do that it will be reconized by my computer as a mic input so basically i can use it with a webcam? nice playing btw
@charligj With an USB link and a soft like Audacity. You have to download the drivers on the Vox website. Then the Tonelab ST will be used like an USB Audio interface.
@dimeoflo I did dad but it sounds like crap... totally different from what I hear on an amp, plus its really delayed if I wanna hear it through the PC :( have any settings for a good metal sound so I can try and use?
@TheBelva85 i own both and the st will never see the stage for me or the outside of my room but the le is by far the most incredible sounding multi effects unit i've ever come across, if u can master it, i just get all my sound from it and play through the clean channel of my basic 100w head, my last show, a guy with a mesa mark V said he wanted to trade his rig for mine
hey i have this and im really confused and have made due with what this thing has given me. anytime i turn on the amp/cabinets, there is no sound whatsoever, but when i turn them off, all i get is a clean sound, and don't even get me started on trying to fix gain, treble, etc.. but im able to use the pedal effects, reverb, and mod/delay for my needs up until now, but i really want to get this figured out. i can't for example use wah and distortion, i can only have either/or.. :/ please help..
Hi - just got one of these and I love it for the most part. An issue I have is that my guitars sound too bassy going *into* the unit - like the bridge pickup is boomy like the neck pickup. The BASS control is great for adjusting lows *after* the cabinet - I'm talking about too much bass going in, where low notes sound muddy with a bunch of gain. Doesn't sound like you had the problem - any ideas? I'm not using cheap guitars either - PRS Custom 22 and an Ibanez RG760. Thx
Indeed, for metal you'll want to roll off the bass before distortion and boost it afterward.
Many overdrives, starting with the famous Tube Screamer, do this to prevent "muddiness" so you'd maybe want to try an OD, treble boost or EQ before your processor if it doesn't already include one. Compression might also help even out the sound (well, that's what it's for).
How is the wah wah? Ive had a lot of bad wah wahs and pedals, and now i just want to get a multi-effects pedal thats does everything, but is the wah wah like a BudWah or a Crybaby ... ?
@nspade13 It sounds like Vox (Hendrix) which is a good thing, but it can sound a little 'mechanical' with a lot of gain, like an emulation of the real thing ;-) If you roll the gain back a little it sounds pretty authentic, maybe a touch muddy. But you can adjust the sensitivity of it....
Used the USB out for recording. I played this through an Engl Powerball. It was nice but now i use this tonelab for playing in my flat through a headphone.
If you put sugar in diet coke then it becomes regular coke, and it would taste like a regular coke. Not all ss amps sound like shit either. I play through a Crate GT3500H, and it sounds awesome for what it does.
This must be embarrassing for Vox, only bedroom rockstars are giving demos of this. I own the Tonelab SE and everything they have made for this category has gone downhill. I do like the SE, but this is not even a demo, same with all of the other ones for the ST. Believe me, what I'm saying is only what is obvious.
