Hey I finally put the turbo kit on my R1. It took a bit of fiddling around but it's an extremely tight kit with no cutting to the fairing and everything sits inside the fairing. It's got 38mm wastegate & 50mm blowoff valve. Twin oil coolers are fitted to the undertail dumping oil over the clutch fibers. I'll post more vids in a few weeks when I get home & let ya know the HP on 7.5psi gor street use.
hey i have a t20 garrett on my gsxr and starts to boost at 6000rpm when does yours first start to boost? i think my turbo is to big for running 7psi im thinking of putting a smaller turbo so i can boost at lower rpms respond please thanks man
do you ever have coolant coming out of the over flow when you turn off the bike? my turbo is in the same spot as yours and i turned off my bike and 3 min later coolant came outa the over flow. this evr happen to you?
@BoostedisbetteR None. If/when it blows up it'll get a compression drop and some forged internals. and a longer swingarm, I'll turn it into a drag bike at that point. Or sell it motorless and get something new. I'll figure it out when the time comes. Those S1000RR's are pretty nasty.
damn thats a pretty clean setup, when u gonna get it real drag strip ready? then tell us what numbers that beast 600 can push out, im thinking mid 9's
awesome bike dude. forget the haters. i respect the engineering you put into this. give me a turbo r6 over an r1 any day. pull ur bike into any bike meet alongside a bolt on r1 and see who gets the crowd not just a plain r1 . get a filter on that turbine side tho ur sweepin the street..lol
A pc3 is a hackjob way of a tune, nothing special about a piggyback. An exhaust frees up shit on a 4cyl engine, especially a streetbike that already has large piping.
My r6 with a strap, an airshifter, and a good set of gears could give your r1 more than a run for it's money in the 1/4. In a standing mile, no way, but in a quarter where both bikes are capable of good acceleration, it's all about landing a good 60ft.
If this dude can get that bike to plant he could dust your R1, 1/4mi
Haha i love how the turbo is at the lowest and dirtiest location of the bike and it has no air filter of any kind. Not even a wire mesh to protect against rocks..
@imprezatt i got an 06 r1 im tryna get a turbo kit for it but there wayy to expensive so im trying to build a custom one myself maybe u can help me a little ur info will be appreciated thnx:)

I only have one question that is not mentioned in your description. I built an 03 turbo r1 but have yet to ride it since it is not tuned. Was wondering if you used the pc ignition module. I added a rising rate fuel pressure regulator as a precaution but I am looking more for what you did but was not listed. My bike ridable and is finished other than my stated question above to I have the skill and more to build a kit but unfamiliar with the yamaha stock fuel/ignition limits.
You know what? I was stupid. I thought you were like the rest of the youtube community, and I regret that. LOL I shouldn't have judged you man, ace for putting the info up on the box. Sick bike, love the sound... I want to turbo charge a Faser 600 engine, and put it on a buggy, that's why I'm asking. Anyways, awesome build.
I was wandering if you need a slipper clutch? I have a 01 R6 stretched lowered and geared wandering cause i dont think you push enough boost with that to worry about a slipper clutch.. Thanks for the idea alot of guys i talked to were telling me its not worth boosting my bike..
It's not, you're better off spending the money on a liter bike, but if you want to be different, this is the route to go. It was a major headache the first year but everything is sorted out now.
My clutch is about done for so I will be replacing it soon, not sure if I'll go that route or just fresh plates. We shall see.
where would you rather put it? lol. Thats a fantastic spot for it, nice and loud and visible. I've only had people tell me that its awesome coming out of there like that :p
Oh well, I think I'd kill myself anyways with that kinda power and such little grip. Owning any kind of motorcycle is dangerous in California in the first place with all the horrible drivers here. I'm pretty happy with my fully built 05 STi as it is and it still scares the daylight out of me sometimes.
I've got a VF39 off my STi. Probably will be overkill though if I were to do this! lol Much rather have a turbo 600 than a straight out liter bike. Light, nimble, and just as fast if not quicker.
Modern liter bikes weigh ~20lbs more than their 600cc equivilents. It's not going to be much lighter with a 10lb turbo and sump and piping, plus fittings and lines.
However, a 600 has a decent bit shorter wheelbase and rides lower. Being 5'9" I much perfer this over trying to get my ass on a literbike.
a VF39 is quite a bit too large for a 600, this doesn't build peak boost until 8000rpms.

VERY VERY VERY nice job! Good clean work and nice looks. I would get problems in Germany with the techical acceptance test (with soundcheck *lol*) ;o) R6 with turbo is near to the perfect bike - light, powerful and mean looking...what else do you want...WOW - I`m thrilled...
I've been reading up on all your posts on the forums. Just bought an 05 R6 and this looks like a great mod that I might consider. I ride with a friend with a turbo busa so I need a little help to say the least. Great job tho!

as in a external wastegate? it's internally gated... no need. Not that big of a turbo to need an external gate... unless you're talking about a pop-off valve... in which case it does... it's in the upper faring behind the right handlebar... comes out one of the ducting holes on the frame

Why does your BOV sound so lame
ninja6kid 7 months ago
You should keep notes on parts and dimensions and build kits for other people for a reasonable price. Do you have an engineering degree?
davidcaun 7 months ago
Bro you're a mad genius! how did you learn to piece it all together?
davidcaun 7 months ago
@davidcaun Basics are pretty simple. Just gotta make everything fit.
The other stuff like the oil system was mostly trial and error. Still tweaking and switching stuff around to improve the streetability.
