Today's music is quite disappointing, I can't listen through a whole song the radio these days before I grab my iPod and play Guns N Roses or Michael Jackson (I know it's pop music but he writes the songs, and my god can he sing) I aspire to be a musician, I play the guitar and sing, and I write actual good songs in my honest opinion.
Ok, it's not that I don't agree with you, but every artist or band has released a song where the chorus is just the same thing over and over again. Have you ever heard the song sliver by Nirvana?
@imafreakinninja12 Hey, Mfighter96 here, and I agree completely. I was like 12 r 13 when I made this video... The only reason it's still up is because I forget my password.
@widdiebram Atleast Guns n roses possess the qualities of musicianship which sets them and todays music apart, I respect your opinion though (I love GN'R)
I dont think any music is crap, its not like one genre of music is right and the other wrong, but instead we just have idiosyncrasies related to the type of music we percieve as enjoyable, so the negative perception of specific music from a single individual does not mean that that music is bad or any less valuable. the intrinsic value of music is like beauty, its rests in the eye of its beholder.
The good thing is ladies and gentlemen is that good music never ages and we can be proud to support music that will forever stand the test of time. Just turn off the radio and pump that Queen or Metallica or Eagles or Van Halen record so that the little teenage fuckers down the road go deaf to the sound of R.E.A.L - M.U.S.I.C.
there is nothing cool about pop music its terrible most of it is autotune and hands clapping in the background an little kids like it cuz they wanna be cool and fit in
Music starting going bad after the homogenization process. Back in the day if you sounded too much like another singer, you didn't get a record contract. And for good reason. If you aren't unique, you should be ignored. Nowadays record executives purposely are trying to make everyone from every genre sound exactly alike. And it's killing music.
Older rap I can tolerate but today's rap and pop all just... well they're dead to me. I did not live in the time period where a lot of good music was made but i still love and appreciate it.
i kinda get what youre saying......but what youre saying is these songs are bad because i listen to a different genre of music! if you compared two good pop songs to these two crap ones then it would make a fair argument
@shaneshaneist That's kind of what I'm saying, there ARE no good pop songs. What was good pop, is no longer considered pop such as the Beatles, some Nirvana, and other songs. Pop music just refers to what is currently popular, and to be perfectly honest, that is nothing nowadays.
@mfighter96 The beatles are the best PERIOD!!! MUSIC sucks today and thatS FINAL! These so called "artists" need computer crap to make their voice better because they cant sing!
@manrayer88 Nah, if you actually think about it most people singing now use all kinds of software to make their voices perfectly pitched and use computer songs. Old musicians used INSTRUMENTS and their real voices, and that's why they are accepted.
Music now requires nothing only a shit ass electric computer. Remember in 1900 when real music came up that requires effort. Not fucking Kayne West, justin Bieber and Lady gaga.
todays music does suck.. its all this dance music or club music and the rock bands all sound the same.. im sticking with the good music/ bands,ac/dc,van halen, ozzy, metallica, def leppard, many more! .....kids today dont know what good music is.
@122cadet Agreed with everything EXCEPT the last thing. That, my friend, is a stereotype. MOST kids today is more like it. There are kids who understand, like me. I'm 13, I gagged when I heard Womanizer on this video. Literally. I physically gagged. It buggs the shit outta me when I hear kids listening to this and actually enjoy it >.>
i don't like today's music aswell and i'm 13, i only like the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and early 2000's well not today's music, these songs makes my brain numb
I hate stuff that's played on the radio nowadays, and my favorite music is from the 60s and 70s. But I don't hate all new music. Mainstream definitely sucks, but you can find some pretty good music out there if you search hard enough. =)
notice the people who really care about music are the people that dress in all black and dedicate there lives to music. thats the rockers. the people who like R&B and new pop (lady gaga) are like they live there lives and barley give a shit, and they say rock music sucks! well i think they broke a few of there ribs just to suck there balls.
@PhamexMusic "Womanizer" is annoying, and "Hot 'n' Cold" was on every f****** hour of the day, now I hardly hear it! Another annoying song: "California Gurlz" (however the hell you spell it). Hip-Hop is driving me off a wall lately! Why can't kids listen to REAL music nowadays?! Modern Hip-Hop is NOT cool!
@Xbrooks21X My bands: 1) Van Halen 2) Black Sabbath 3) Ozzy Osbourne 4) Foreigner 5) Aerosmith 6) (The) Eagles 7) Styx 8) Steve Miller Band 9) Kiss 10) Led Zeppelin 11) Steely Dan 12) AC/DC. More recently: Santana.
todays music really does sucks, the pop music has no talent cuz either is like made on a computer same with rap, punk rock is the easy shit ever and it just has a bunch of singers who got there balls cut of and sound like girls who are crying about shit that isnt anything, nu metal is soooo genric sarting off with same crap and the bassists slamming on the e string open 60s to 90s is the best. there are few and i stress "few" good bands.
true say bout metal, most popular good music around actually. but even metal bands are a dying breed. I want good music where feeling is allowed, its cool to play the instrument, theres something to the song, and its not so fake... i love music and theres people who love it in this world but all this other crap makes me sad to be alive its not even like 80 new wave, at least say simple minds or the cure had talent and something too them... i hate being 15 in the year 2010 its so frustrating!!
People who complain about music today only focus on the music that is played on MTV and the radio. There is plenty of great stuff out there, you will just have to look for it. For starters, turn off the radio.
Don't get me wrong I love beautiful women, but I'd rather see them in Playboy, not on stage trying to convince me that their talentless attempt at songwriting and performance is something that I should take seriously for a nano second.
My question is who is buying today's popular crap? Last night I saw a music video of a very well known young female artist who I will keep anonymous. The video consisted of her wearing barely nothing and making humping motions towards the camera to the sound track of her auto tuned to death voice, and mundane typical overproduced backing track.
dude your right music today does suck nirvana, metallica, van halen, pantera fuckin rock but i dont really like gnr but they have a couple good songs great video dude.
I've listened to metal, and even newer metal is still crap, so I doubt I'd be thanking you, because Slipknot,Disturbed and in Flames are very crappy, i'll admit, not as bad as the 2 pieces of crap in this video(Katy Perry,Britney Spears). And you said "What do you expect when you listen to the radio or MTV?" That doesn't change the fact that the music still sucks, does it?
Changed my mind about metal, unfortunately, it's very hard to find out about metal bands nowadays, because Iron Maiden and Metallica and all the really good popular stuff gets radio play, and hell, only 2 songs by Maiden get on the radio, same with Metallica, but if you manage to find a metal band, the you're right, it's very enjoyable. I'm currently addicted to Dream Theater and Bullet For My Valentine, and Slayer is great, too.
@mfighter96 May i recommened if you are looking for metal "Machine head" they are bringing back true metal. Listen to there album "The Blackening." BTW it got Metal album of the DECADE!!
@pannoni1 naw there is plenty of great new metal (not to be confused with that crappy nu-metal that plagued the seen in the late 90's and early 2000's) out there that has come out in the last 5 years. The only problem is you gotta be proactive in finding it on your own because there is very little exposure. Headbangers Ball on MTV2 plays some of the new metal coming out, but MTV2 doesn't respect the genre enough to broadcast the show at a reasonable time (Monday nights at like 1 am).
@pannoni1 Also, one would think that metal died b/c VH1 only seems to glorify metal from the 80s and early-mid 90s. They appear to refer to metal as a phenomenon that happened in the past, mainly talking about all those lame hair metal bands. Some of the more popular metal acts today include Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and Avenged Sevenfold, all of which are good bands to get acquainted with modern metal. Then you can move on to heavier stuff like The Black Dahlia Murder or Amon Amarth.
You guys should understand that this trend of body image becoming pedominent in music industry is unavoidable. As population increases, more competition is demanded everywhere.
People don't want artists that sit on their asses and make money off their talent, they want competition. They want fit and beautiful musicians that fits in with the image of competitiveness that our economy now warps around.
Pot smoke's cleared, art is dead and we enter an age of endless competition.
Well I personally dislike the new mainstream, but it really relates to the society we live in. So I'm not going to complain about it, because as shallow and meaningless they seem, the talentless artists do put a lot of effort into becoming celebrities.
what i would like to see is a new band that will carry on the legacy of legends like Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin, ACDC Metallica etc. so that good music will never die!
Velvet Revolver was alright, but they're also broken up now, unfortunatly. To be completely honest, some of Eminem's older stuff(like up to 2004) was pretty good too. I don't like a whole lot of C-Rap though.
Queen, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Kiss, Rolling Stones, Beetles, Nirvana and many more made a real impact on the music industrie. And these bands died a sudden or slow death. Except for some who you never hear anything about in the mainstream.
I have to agree what you are getting at here. Most of the music of today is going from bad to worst. There were a lot of better music artists back then than they are now.
Suck it REALLY sucks. We got songs that are just like babies putting words together.
Other generation of music stood for something. This decade, the 00's, all we got is forgettable rap shit, pop music run by whores and sluts, and music that's just controled by celebrities.
Man, I was born in the wrong generation.
ANYONE WHO SAYS THAT THIS DECADE IS THE BEST EVER IS DEAD WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today's music is quite disappointing, I can't listen through a whole song the radio these days before I grab my iPod and play Guns N Roses or Michael Jackson (I know it's pop music but he writes the songs, and my god can he sing) I aspire to be a musician, I play the guitar and sing, and I write actual good songs in my honest opinion.

what i would like to see is a new band that will carry on the legacy of legends like Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin, ACDC Metallica etc. so that good music will never die!

Yeah,
I mean what was the last band that was really good? I'dd say Nirvana.

Velvet Revolver was alright, but they're also broken up now, unfortunatly. To be completely honest, some of Eminem's older stuff(like up to 2004) was pretty good too. I don't like a whole lot of C-Rap though.

Velvet Revolver was good but not extrordinairy.
