How smart is this compared to anything on the show in the last ten years?

I saw this done live - it didn't get nearly the laughs it deserved (that night was crowded with talent - Steve Martin, Martin Short, Chevy Chase guested.) Five yrs later, Phil worked on a show I wrote and I told him how damn funny it was. "That was the only sketch I had that week," he said...and when I fed him Carvey's lines, he did the rest of the sketch by memory. Amazing talent...wonderful guy.

I love that he throws a little of Jambi the genie's chant in when he's on the speaker phone. A throwback to his work with Pee-wee Herman. Phil was so great.
