  • You know dub when you hear it... is just the gut instinct.

  • Hyperdub wasn't that popular outside of England, so sadly peple do soft dub mostly :(

Always been a fan of hyperdub though

  • yayaya i like

  • same sample as "when it's gone"?

  • Dead...

  • I want to romantically dance and sway, with this.

  • for everyone out there, this is dubstep, the recording company is called hyperdub, and alot of the artist on the label are from far east, alot of hyperdub uses 8 bit sounds, like nintendo days, its just a style of dance electronica, its all music :)

  • Catch Darkstar Live @ Coalition, Brighton on 26th Feb. 14+ BIg!

  • I heard that this kind is so called Aquacrunk/Wonky

  • deep

  • Dubstep is usually around 140bpm and centered around a deep bassline but it has so many influences: reggae, grime, jungle, garage just to name a few and its still such a new genre of music it's difficult to just call a song dubstep as each artist brings his own sound to the genre this truly is a great time for music that's all I can say!!!!!!!!!

  • @themuzicman333 well said

  • @themuzicman333 Smartest thing I have ever heard on youtube, no joke, this is a sign of the apocalypse.

  • i can't stop listening. it's wonderful.

  • I think I heard this before I fell asleep last night, when I was on last.fm, shit was banging. Can't get enough of it now.

  • Ahhh...it's melodic and just so wonderful. Nicely done Darkstar! Found about you just today. Heard 4 songs and like them all - that shit happens rarely!

  • Mmmmm.

  • its such a relieve that our generation who didn't have the privilige to share the air with hendrix, miles davis and such still can experience musical geniosity of the likes of darkstar, flying lotus, burial..

  • New dubstep banger on my page!

  • @tpaffel

  • omg this song hits so hard.

  • great...

  • God, I cant wait for there album North, just fifteen days to go!

  • this song is so fucking annoying.

Like listening so some oldskool castle song for the 8bit system.

    But then slowed down. ALOT

  • @snails40

    Okay, I lol'd so hard.

  • I love thats track, very Nice :D

  • I love thats track, very Nice :D

  • does anybody know any similar songs to this one

  • <3 darkstep, makes me feel all... all fuzzy inside! :D

  • THIS IS NOT DUBSTEP 140 DOES NOT MAKE IT DUBSTEP THAT IS JUST THE TEMPO THIS JUST DOES NOT SOUND LIKE DUBSTEP

  • @werewolfmummy its stripped down leaving just bass and drum so its dubby and its got shuffling snares and percussion like 2-step so its dubstep. this song is actually about 135bpm. most dubstep doesn't have wobble. expand your musical knowledge. listen to martyn, appleblim, indigo, ramadanman, mount kimbie, james blake vvv, untold blawan

  • @djredi2step this is not dubstep apple blim is future garage/ 2 step not dubstep, most dubstep does have a wobble thats what makes it different to most dub and 2 step you idiot

  • @werewolfmummy future garage is just a term coined by dubstep producers to distance themselves from all the wobbles of rusko and datsik etc. dub literally means stripped of midrange leaving bass and drum. thats why early dubstep sounds exactly like 2-step and has no wobbles. look up oris jay, steve gurlkey, horsepower productions or el-b. any minimal 2-step is essentially dubstep. most dubstep produced now that has wobble is all midrange and so isn't even dubstep anyway

  • @djredi2step it really isnt your just talking bollocks mate. dubstep came out of garage, 2 step and grime and a bit of drum and bass. i cant be arsed to argue with you anymore you twat you are just wrong

  • @werewolfmummy dubstep caame out of just garage/2-step it may have influence fro the afore mentioned genres but mostly in the newer dubstep. allow getting rude. i may be pretentious but i'm not insulting you

  • @djredi2step you are clearly not an expert and u clearly are just making this up off the top of your head

  • @werewolfmummy you're clearly not an expert either. the startes of dubstep are el-b, horsepower, oris jay and steve gurley. everyone would agree with me on this. they all produced 2-step which came to sound more and more like dubstep. hardly any of their songs had wobbles. listen to their songs now and you will see that dubstep didn't come out of grime or drum'n'bass.

  • @djredi2step no one is agreeing with you cos your wrong

and they are not the start of dubstep. scream is the one who really brought it to the front but then there was king tubby and others who are way before the people u mention. you just carry on waffling tihnking you know about dubstep thinkin you are cool etc. you are wrong and will always be wrong

  • @werewolfmummy fucking hell. how can you be that ignorant. dubstep started bin 1999. skream started in 2002 and tubby was making DUb not dubstep in the eighties. fucking wikipedia it or look on dubstep forum for fucks sake

  • @werewolfmummy even digital mystickz was producing before skream. look up big apple records in croydon. look up the tempa label. noone thinks skream started dubstep

  • @djredi2step he brought the first propa dubstep to the scene with the wobbles etc othersmight have starteed producin early versions of it before but skream was the one recognised for it and he brought it out. you need to stop wikipedia cos its bullshit and anyone can write on that

  • @werewolfmummy i'm going on interviews with dj's and talking to dj's at raves. have you heard any of tempa's roots of dubstep EP, have a listen to some of the tunes on there. skream started fuckall. he may have refined the sound, become famous etc. but he didn't start dubstep. a lot of digital mystickz from before skream has wobble anyway. even early garage. listen to need you baby by dea project. really oldskool garage with a subtle wobbley bassline. LFO is an aspect of some dubstep but not all

  • @werewolfmummy you haven't got a clue.

  • @2ProtectnEntertain i know you dont

  • Absolutely loving this song at the moment, it's got so much soul.

  • jesus christ what an amazing release

  • sounds pretty ambient to me..

  • wonky

  • aint listen to this track in a few months..

    BANGER

  • A work of staggering genius.. A++++

  • Big-up Darkstar& Hyperdub records! With out them, dub step is garbage!! Keep up the good work!!

  • does darkstar make tunes n e mor?

  • yep an album is due out next year...

  • then im gnna buy it!lol

  • i need more! MORE! MOREEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ooohhhh loorrrdddd the keys on my keyboard are shaking!

    god i love you dubstep!

  • wow! im listening to it quite loud (40db) on my stereo with out whe base, and its loud as frick diddy fick!

time for the H bass and subwoffer :P

  • dammit, i search for lime squeezing and just get this nonsense song

  • nonsense? you can not be serious

  • @willzy420 well you might as well have balls hanging off your chin

    asshole

  • @willzy420 lol why search up lime squeezing?

  • @willzy420 why did you search for 'lime squeezing' ?

  • dubstep genre only defines the use of subsonic frequencies in a more creative way, and a BPM around 140, and similar drums on some occasions

  • thanks for that awsome information man

  • Lol. Who is this grindmaler guy? :D

  • dunno some herb ass tool haha

  • awesome tune

  • wow

  • thee shit

  • DarkStar is one of the best.

  • darkstar make really wonderful dark bass ... i wanna cry too

  • not so much dubstep because no solid bass. the same with al of darkstar. but still a gud tune

  • Me love this track but could anyone explain what makes it dubstep, is it the rythmic pattern or what ?

  • for me its dubstep cause it has the tempo of 140bpm, the halftime drumstructure and the deep bassline :)

  • this 140bmp? O_O

  • 136

  • @DubstepTunez

so what makes this not garage or 2step?

I feel like the stuff on hyperdub needs to be called somthing to diffrenciate itself from the likes of bar9, physical and nero..

  • @mrjoecool do you not think the label name "Hyperdub" does this perfectly? i always think of it like that :)

  • @lgs00schos

yeah but other labels are also playing the same sort of stuff. Listen to stuff on hot flush like Scuba and Joy Orbison, any of it could belong on hyperdub. Just saying :)

  • @mrjoecool great artists. i feel like the genre of music that hyperdub pushes is more of a heartfelt kind of dub music than those though. more focussed on the aesthetics of old school dub, except refined. there are some great labels out there, but i can't think of many apart from maybe basic channel that does it in such a pure way. theres usually more of a dancefloor aesthetic with hotlush and the like.

    know what i mean?

    peace :)

  • @lgs00schos

yeh i see what you're getting at. But then shared artists on hyperdub like Joker still have that that dancefloor aesthetic which you're talking about. Ha, hopefully doesnt sound like im trying to start and arguement, i'm just sorta saying, that i think it would be cool for all this music we're talking about to have a more unified genre so that when you tell someone you like dubstep they don't assume youve just picked up a rusko cd and saw bar 9 live and now you think your trendy :P

  • @mrjoecool not all all :) its a pleasure to discuss.

deffo see what you mean about joker, kode9 must have seen something that he liked in it. not that i don't love joker too,

i defo know what you mean, i've been listening to a lot of oldschool dubstep recently. its so much more minimal and pure. really not feeling this whole 'wall of sound thing at the moment'.

  • @mrjoecool

i think dubstep will always be the dubstep i love. all this wobble stuff thats coming out now is hardcore dubstep or brostep or something. what is genre anyway tho ;)

tell you what, joy orbison doesn't know, his new tunes are from all over the place stylistically. fucking brilliant.

  • @lgs00schos

    &

    @mrjoecool

couldnt agree more im not on the vibe of the grottier and filthier a tune is the 'better' a tune it is.

i'm far more onthe garage rooted stuff, martyn knows whats going on as does S.Y.N.K.R.O (for me anyway) the fact that dubstep is now officially more popular than r'n'b says something. if anyone was in the coop at big chill 2009 on the sunday will kno tht kode9 rinsed out with the more oldskool vibes i think of it as smoking music u can groove to personnally. peace

  • @TFUCURD Yes kode 9 was sick hahaha Big chill was a great weekend with great music Mungos hi fi were good aswell

  • i just think of it as :

    good dubsteb

    good wobble

    bad wobble

    pretty simple ;)

  • @DubstepTunez

yea still wish he would do more with this track..

i think a squirel could be more creative..

thats the anoying thing about dubstep..

everyone seems to think everysong is good we need to be more judgamental so that dubstep actualy gets better..

but you europeans prolly wont understand...

  • @tpaffel

Your right about quality control but this song is not bad. This vein of dubstep, Hyperdub gives much more focus to melody and mid-high frequency synth sounds over dubstep's normal wobble bass concession. There's a lot to listen to in this track.

  • @DubstepTunez Eh thats a simple explaination to me the genre "Dubstep" is anything with a range of high 130 to low 150 bpm with a halftime drum structure and the music itself is structured around the drums and the bassline, and the songs tend to be played in minor scales. The bass tends to be large and deep. It is clearly a form of electronic music and features influences from Dub, Drum and Bass, 2-Step, and Techno in some form or fashion. This song exhibits these traits so I consider it dubstep

  • @DubstepTunez there are no rules to dubstep, it just has to sound good :)

  • @DJgnarley yes there are. you are wrong because not all good sounding music is dubstep.

  • @DJgnarley And the drum pattern ;)

  • @DJgnarley And no pregnancy growls from the likes of Skrillex

  • @DubstepTunez For me it's dubstep cause it has the tempo of 140bpm, super generic and boring drumstructure and a monotonous drum line that a beginner could create.

ps: The voice samples add absolutely not shit to this track.

  • @peterpanmannnn out of interest i would really like to see what songs you find good, since you seem to post the same shit on every song he's uploaded, which is quite ironic because you are complaining about the song being generic, when you say the same things over and over again.

  • @DNBinca Why u mad?

& Eh, Bonobo, bibio, lone, most artists on warp, typicals like aphex, autechre, squarepusher, etc. Mostly all of their songs are good. There's a lot of new good electronic music being put out since everyone has a computer nowadays.

& Wtf are you talking about "every song", post all these videos I'm supposedly saying the same thing on.

  • @peterpanmannnn so if you like good electronic music how comes you can't appreciate something like this? sure hyperdub can put out some shit every now and again, but near enough every producer they have signed on makes superb tracks that are one hundred percent original, nothing generic about them, and another thing dont say "why u mad" it just makes me think you're one of those guys who uses memes to make himself look cool. and maybe not every song, but this and another darkstar track.

  • @peterpanmannnn what do you get out of saying everythings shit?

  • @peterpanmannnn its ok my girlfriend left me for darkstar too :'(

  • @peterpanmannnn for me your a failtroll

  • @deafintune its stripped down leaving just bass and drum so its dubby and its got shuffling snares and percussion like 2-step so its dubstep. this song is actually about 135bpm

  • @deafintune

140 bpm and different snare and high hat patterns are common in dubstep.

  • @deafintune It's 2step, halftime.

  • @deafintune the artist

  • Dat sweet rifa goes well dis ting

  • To good, it's ridiculous . where on earth does he get his vocal samples? does anyone know?

  • vocoder!

  • i guess he sings himself.

  • yes...this is too fucking perfect. Overwhelming goodness.

  • too nice.. i'm gonna cry :'( it's so nice

like floating on airwaves... fucking great

  • nice and chilled, summer vibes!

  • could probably do an mc over this

  • It's 136 bpm

  • nice and chilled.. wouldnt want to dance to it but as a mong out tune its good

  • pollentier911 a no wat ya sayin am nt sayin all t unes are 140 but there there or three about 144 or 138 u can mix em but this seems like even if u up the pitch up rite as far as it will go it will still be a bit too slow,

  • darkstar cant top break, got hes own style tho enit

  • break smashed it i love tht just as much nw as wat i did wen i 1st heard it n tht was tiiiiiiiiiiime ago lol

  • real nice lallaligo

  • this isnt 140 its a bit slower, it wont mix into ne 140z i got, only tried it a cupl times like but it seemed like u had 2 speed it rite up 2 get it ne wer near

  • normal that it aint all 140 man, than it wouldn't be that hard to mix it wouldn't it? Than even I wud be world top-dj and I'm not even close hah

  • kode 9 mixed it a thousand times and he aint a top dj

you should try working the pitch puttons ;d

  • your saying then instead of than lol took me about 3 reads to work out wat ur actually saying.. it didnt make sense til i realised lol but yh ur right it makes it a challenge to be able to do

  • too slow

  • Dubstep is u nipple

  • you must not listen to a lot of dubstep. This is a slower dubstep and soft :(

Its good that you like it thou

  • still ~140 bpm, but of course its chilled, that seems to make it slow.

I more like the party bangers, than this one ;)

  • all bout the mad distorted party bangers lol

  • i listen to alot of dub m8 haha

  • then how can you say dubstep is slow? there is lots of fast dubstep tit

  • hey,no need for rude words now is there.

  • you called me nipple! and tit isnt a rude word. tits are nice and soft :)

  • Haha :D deffo bruv! safe yeh..

  • @ILL3GALDL George Carlin?? (:
