Well, you're right about the bullet in the face, ninjas, cutting he zombie's stomach, but the knife is more important than that.

You can break boxes without wasting ammo, use it when you're out of ammo, use it to melee and don't waste ammo, or just use it because you're a ninja =D

the knife is to clear room plus you can conserve ammo by slashing the knees or face to enable a melee attack and for killing downed enemies without wasting ammo.

Im not really try to complain but to answer some of your questions theres a knife because its RE tradition each RE game the player has a knife no matter what. Also does special training mean anything? Sheva is a special trained agent. Also the people in the game are infected with a parasite that makes them very strong so they can survive a couple of gunshots.

I'm well aware of this parasite you speak of, but this game tries to tell me that a direct head shot from 10 feet away (head pops off) does not count as much as a head shot from 20 feet away (ouch you pricked my eye)

the knife is only put there either if they get to close or if you run outta ammo and it has a bit of a good side aim for the knees or the eyes and it stunes them readying em for that steroid injected punch but yea it pretty much is a wooden spoon
