The only thing to watch out when using this method is to remember that you do not have to stay in just one shape, or even one box. It is a bad habit to keep your hand in the same position while improvising.
Why oh why do people put negative comments on where folks are just trying to help other players out? Who cares if you do not like this method? NO one asked so keep your opinion to yourself and let folks get on with it.
the whole box method of learning the fretboard sucks, i always hated it, i think its better just to establish the cookie cutter pattern all over the neck.
both have there time and place to be utlized. So if a box pattern makes more sense to use then it don't suck. No need to walk the fretboard all the time as its sometimes pointless to do the box pattern. You do as you wish. Those who know how or learn to utlize both ways will be the better player. utlize
Thanks! I have no plans to take down the video. I've seen a couple of links that have nice pictorial representations of the pentatonics. I just can't seem to post web links here. Any idea how to post web links in youtube?
At 2:23, you say, "move up a fret", but you move down in pitch, and down in fret number. I am curious why you refer to that as up, rather than down.

Using 1 finger to demonstrate a Scale is a bad idea for obvious reasons. Much
less confusion using the proper fret board fingering. Single finger looks like
a blurr. Suggest doing video over. Hope you use this constructive criticism in a positive way. Thanks for the video.

The box is a GREAT example.
That is EXACTLY what you start to see after runing the scales enough.
