Actully bass is pronounced both base and bass in megaman original he was called bass and in battle network he was pronounced base also everyone loves to double jump well I do anyway
@hyperzero12 It was pronounced as BASE in the original series, not BASS. It's the whole reason that his robot wolf partner is named Treble; the pun wouldn't work if his name was "Bass" like the fish.
Actually, I have to correct you here, R-Shadow is NOT Quint. They are actually 2 very separate characters. Quint is future Reprogrammed megaman, R Shadow is actually, Quint's prototype, basically. When Wily went to the future in the GB game, he first experimented with the technology available at the time, and resulted in R-Shadow. After that, he made Rock Quint, and went back in time, basically discarding Shadow. Shadow destroyed his future world, and went back in time to fight Rock and Forte
honestly Quint is a vey interesting character that was greatly under developed and under utilized. I wish they had fleshed out his character alot more explaing his origin and what not. Why couldnt they toss him into a main title? I have to know is he really a reprogrammed version of MM?
the Big question is..does this plot line fall into the GB titles story line or the Main series or somehow both? the world may never know. damnit Capcom, get the stroy straight.
It's not the GB though, but the Wonderswan, which was produced by Bandai. However, the Gameboy and Wonderswan were both the brain children of Gunpei Yokoi.
I'm not about to get into a linguistics argument over the Youtubes, but I didn't.
Forte pronounced "Fort" is meant to reference a strength, French origin of the word. Forte pronounced "For-Tey" is italian for "Loud," which would be the proper use here seeing as Rockman main character names are typically musical puns.
If it was "For-tay" wouldn't it need an accent like attaché or cliché? I mean, in the official materials. Anyway so many people pronounce the other word (strength) wrong anyway.
Technically, yes, but Forte's name (to the best of my knowledge) never shows up romanized, but just as "フォルテ", with the last character being pronounced "te."
no matter how you want to think it should be spelled or spoken based on the way its written. Its still going to be spoken as For "tay" like the intended word used in reading notes in music. if u havent noticed most of the mm characters are named based on music jargon.
I now see the difference. The character should be indeed pronounced for-tay, and for that matter spelled Forté, which means "loud". The other word, forte, merely means strength.
Still pisses me off when people say "[this] is my 'for-tay'" which is wrong either way.
oh well doesnt it make sense to you when people say this is my forte, when forte means strength?I know its odd how both words are pronounced the same, but this is the english language which is very flawed.
It says that the "talent" definition comes from latin/french(fort/fortis) where "loud" comes from italian (forte). Yet both words still mean "strong" in their original languages. Go figure.
I just did a youtube search and compared voices and you're right, you do sound a lot like Tarantino! I like both Andy and Quintons' voices, so it is definitely a compliment. Anyway, keep up the great lps.
Wow, such a odd title. Never thought I'd see an LP of it. Yeah, this is the bizarre origin reveal of Quint. He's Megaman from the future, whom Wily reprogrammed to destroy his present day self, hence the pseudonym Shadow Rockman. Yeah, I told you it was weird.
He's not officially a Rockman Killer even though he's often lumped with them. There are only 3 Rockman Killers: Enker, Punk, and Ballade (RKN- 001, 002 and 003 respectively). Quint doesn't actually have a serial number.
I'm grasping at straws of Mega Man games I can LP. I thought that Quint as Mega Man from the future was revealed previously, and it was that Time Traveling Wily snagged up Rockman Future's corpse, fixed it up, and sent it at his rival, creating what I think can be considered a grandfather clause, but that was Mega Man 2 for the GB, I wasn't aware the story carried over here. Also, I'm aware he's not an offical Rockman Killer, since he isn't made directly by Wily, I just do as you said, lumped.
From what I understand, Rockman World 2, although it did have some bizarre time traveling plot, never really explained who the hell Quint was or even what Wily was doing in the future. Quint just shows up, is pathetically easy, and runs after you beat him. There's no story telling in game, nor is there any dialog with Quint. I was always under the impression that this was the game that actually reveals what Quint is, which is as you said.
I did some poking around the internet, and I keep getting different stories. RMW2's manual does say that Wily traveled into the future with a stolen time machine, and Quint's RM&F card says he is a reprogrammed Rock. A new development I dug up from a Mega Man Wiki says that R-Shadow and Quint are not the same person, rather R-Shadow is a prototype made from the future's technology, and was discarded by Wily for the real Quint, giving him an inferiority complex.
None of that surprises me in the least, though I am fully aware of the first two factoids since I do own RMW2 and have fully completed the SFC R&F.
I can't say I know of any complete translation out there, so naturally a lot of the game is unknown. That does explain why Quint's only listed as being in Rockman Worlds 2 and 5 and not this one. Besides, everything else in this game is horrendously ridiculous anyway, the 6 RMs are the most bizarre yet.
Oddly enough, RMW2 is the only GB RM title I own. As far as translation goes, the only direct translation I've found is that of the opening scene, and nothing more; just synopsis and summary.
And yes, I'm glad that there was finally a game with more ridiculous bosses than RM6.
Actually, his name is grey devil.

Shockingly enough, this game wasn't TERRIBLE. Just meh. And it's to be expected, given certain circumstances. Had potential, I suppose.
IMHO, no Megaman will ever match the glory that is Megaman V on GameBoy.

I do believe as the previous commenter said, and I think gtf as well, all the music from this game is borrowed from the original Mega Man & Bass.

They should've used an entirely new soundtrack for this game instead of borrowing the soundtrack from Mega Man and Bass.
