It amazed me that a company that was so practiced at traditional cartoons (e.g. Mickey, Donald, and Goofey) could draw such realistic people starting with Snow White. This was the piece I was missing. ...and agreed with others - the music makes it all the more magical. Thank you.
see this is the reason I LOVE hand drawn animation, so much creativity and imagination goes into it. The computer animation we have these days DOES NOT COMPARE! it takes out the human element, and that is the whole part of animation, its an artist using their mind and a pencil! That is the magic of animation, you are not just drawing lines on a paper its EMOTION!.
Thank you so much for posting this!! It's VERY interesting to see how these animators took what they saw and brought it into the animated world! It's truly amazing!!
Holy crap! I knew about the models, but I didn't know they went all the way to Aladdin! Does Disney use models anymore? Or is it sort of an old technique now?
@CROCODlLE I don't thinks so, since CGI has evolutioned a lot during the last two decades to help animators with the movement of animated characters in newer movies like ''PRINCES AND THE FROG'' or the animated sequence of ''ENCHANTED'' :(
Aww. The music fits perfectly, it makes it more magical. This is a wonderful compilation of live reference models. Disney truly brings out the best in everything. :)
I'm a Graphic design student and we're doing a motion project, and this video has helped me with my research, on disney and animation techniques (rotoscoping) so thanks for that, great video :D
That is what disney animation is missing now. The realness and live action models to bace from. It just looks more life like and 'real' even though it's animation.
When I am an old lady I am totally gonna dress up as Maleficent for Halloween
