very interesting electric locomotives, i didnt managed to see the bogey very well is it co'co or bo'bo?and the passenger wagons are they identical to the ones that india uses or is it just me?
ok i belive you, could you check out any videos off indian passanger trains and see that they very similar, maybe they were inspired from the model :-?
Yeah... One would think that for the MASSIVE premium passengers are paying to ride this train that they would get a locomotive appropriate to the level of service. It's sort of like putting some SD9's on the Twentieth Century Limited.
Another classic - It's a shame that the 14E's are not painted blue (like the Class 5E/6E1/7E/12E/34-900). Also, they are not the prettiest of locos, but they are quite rare aren't they? I saw a few Blue Trains at Kimberley, but as it was winter when I visited, it was always dark. Keep 'em coming Barend.
Hi Jez, quite true the orange doesn't fit to well, lets hope the new people in charge that Spoornet will sell the Blue Train to will paint them blue. The main reason for using the 14E's on The Blue Train is their dual voltage capability eliminating loco changes as you know. 14E's weren't originally ordered for the Blue Train as far as I know.
Is this standard or cape gauge?

I remember when we worked the blue train out of Johannesburg with electric Class 3E locomotives with its own steam boiler for heating (1955-61)

Bo-Bo wheel arrangement and there are 2 Blue Train sets. Custom built in South Africa no other country has identical wagons.

That's a remarkably ugly loco, if no one minds me saying.

I'd have to agree with you on that. I miss the traditional blue locomotives that they used to use.
