@exopantadikio21 Well the label they have carried their entire career is "Progresive metal", now progresive rock has: odd time signatures, complex compositions, classical influenced melodies, psychedelic passages and some other really interesting stuff, some examples of progresive rock artists are Pink Floyd, Genesis, Kansas, Peter Gabriel, Porcupine Tree, Yes and more. Now take all that magic and add the heavy - agressive loud strength and Power of heavy metal and there you have Dream Theater
@sykness1 Actually it was Mike Portnoy's (drummer) father who thought of that name based on a movie theater that was called "The Dream Theater", before the name prior to Dream Theater was Mayesty, but there was another band who had that same name and so they had to change it. and they also had another proyect called Nightmare Cinema which was them but playing covers in another instrument, John Petrucci on Drums, Mike in Bass, John Myung on Keyboards and Derek Sherinian on guitar, it was funny.

For some reason, I think it would have been great if Mike Portnoy became the drummer of BOTH DT and A7X. Its kinda like this. Mike Portnoy spends time with DT for 3 years while A7X takes a break. Then MP spends time with A7X for 2 years while DT takes a break. And the cycle goes on.

For some reason, I think it would have been great if Mike Portnoy became the drummer of BOTH DT and A7X. Its kinda like this. Mike Portnoy spends time with DT for 3 years while A7X takes a break. Then MP spends time with A7X for 2 years while DT takes a break. And the cycle goes on.
Anyways, still goodluck to DT, A7X, and Portnoy :)
