He caught the ball @ 0:41 and even if you dont count that as two steps when he clearly caught the ball and took 3 steps doing so (ive seen refs who do count those steps even when not jumping) and then @ 0:46 he attempts to pivot but unintentionally hops with both feet which is really another 2 steps. Its so quick it doesnt matter.
The one in 2:35 was not a travel, guys. Look at the slow mo after that. He still dribbled the ball when he dropped that left foot, so that was not the pivot. It was the right foot.

I see your point, but I think the referees felt that BOTH feet were established and at rest BEFORE Kobe put TWO HANDS on the ball. If that is true, the player can choose which foot to use as the pivot. Simply because the left foot is the first foot he rests on the floor doesn't automatically mean it's the pivot. The only way the left foot is automatically the pivot is if the right foot is still moving when he picks up his dribble with BOTH HANDS. It was not.

anyone ever notice that the players in the nba who played soccer for years have amazing footwork? Nash, Kobe, Hakeem. I would suggest that every young basketball player play both sports, i played both and although i wasn't great at soccer it helped me with my footwork. Pivoting feels natural to people that play socer. Pure basketball players have to practice it when they are older and the soccer player has years of experience on them.

yea, u are right that u can take two steps, or rather, u can have the opportunity to have each of ur foot touch the ground once after u pick up ur dribble. hence layups. but if both of ur feet touch the ground after the ball is picked up, u can only move the foot that's not pivoted.

at 0:32 He maintains the right foot as his pivot after he picks up the ball. NOT A TRAVEL.
You can make an argument that his moving before the dribble was a travel, but he put the ball down almost immediately. Plus the ref was literally right there in front of him.

yeah he didn't dribble in that highlight. he holds the ball after he receives the pass and then changes his pivot foot in the rotation. That is a travel.

At first I was gonna say this: Coby do travel allot and the reason they dont be callin it is the same reason dat the elected officials in Washington dont be doing nothin about eachother and pirate interest groups doing things to America(ns) that they know aint right. He did travel on some of them, but you must understand what Kobe understands. And thats is in live game speed its hard to spot what the feet are doing. Its only when you have luxury off slow motion to spot things as they are. We all usually can spot a travel because something awkward just happen OR its just blantley obviouis that the player traveled. But if you make it seem like that extra step was in fact your second step you can get away with it. Especially when spinning, its hard to call.0:59

The spin move where they pickup the ball mid spin is officially a travel.
But it happens so often and it looks pretty so NBA doesn't call it.

2:35 was a travel..not purposely but he didnt mean to establish a pivot because he put 2 feet on the ground..but he kinda of lost footing from what he was trying to do so technically it was a travel...and I am the biggest kobe fan

if you rest a foot on the floor after the last dribble, that is your pivot foot and you can't raise it, he did, so that's a travel period.

2:35 isn't a travel man. What is wrong with you? Kobe bounced the ball on his left foot. Then he reversed spin he using his right foot. Only 2 steps.
But the spin on 0:59 is 3 steps, and the refs usually close one eye on this kind of moves because it's too fast.

the left foot is the first he rests on the floor after the dribble (if you stop at 2:35 you can see he's got the ball in his hands, with the right foot lifted), than that's the pivot foot, he CAN'T raise it.

basically I'm so eager to prove that he travelled cause he did. I know Kobe is the best, but I hate the way the refs let superstars do what they want on the court. basketball got rules, and it got ruined if they aren't observed, especially in the NBA, where all the perimeter player are extraordinary athletes, and it's IMPOSSIBLE to defende 1 on 1 if your opponent travels on the first step. that's why.

I see your point, but I think the referees felt that BOTH feet were established and at rest BEFORE Kobe put TWO HANDS on the ball. If that is true, the player can choose which foot to use as the pivot. Simply because the left foot is the first foot he rests on the floor doesn't automatically mean it's the pivot. The only way the left foot is automatically the pivot is if the right foot is still moving when he picks up his dribble with BOTH HANDS. It was not.

this isnt a travel in NBA but in real basketball it is because he landed on his left foot first while catching the ball and he used his right foot as pivot, in basketball the first foot that u land with while u catch the ball is ur pivot

wow. thats is probably the most ass-backwards list i've seen. it'd be one thing to say 1) jordan 2) lebron 3) kobe. but to say wade, jodan, garnett (seriously?), lebron, kobe is rediculous. you must not know basketball. the most likely would probably go

For any ppl that think he travels he doesn't his pivot foot is always planted on the floor meaning he can still move the opposite foot which makes it seem like he's traveling but in reality he's not.
Kobe bryant by far the best foot work in the nba.
And all those haters don't hate kobe they just hate his game cuz he's way too good and dominates any defender including lebron james

I'm a BIG Kobe FAN. But the fact is, he really gets a way with travel almost evrytime. He does it really quick and sometimes the ref caught up and swallows the whistle, and like " uhh, i think thats travel.." and the shot's already in. Hehehe! Thats the great thing about being a super star. The slowmotion really tell. Wanna see? look at the move he did @ K-mart, last move. He clearly changes his Pivot while taking the turnaround shot. Looks great, but clearly a travel. :)

anyone ever notice that the players in the nba who played soccer for years have amazing footwork? Nash, Kobe, Hakeem. I would suggest that every young basketball player play both sports, i played both and although i wasn't great at soccer it helped me with my footwork. Pivoting feels natural to people that play socer. Pure basketball players have to practice it when they are older and the soccer player has years of experience on them.

i wouldnt say it made my feet move faster but it did make footwork feel natural. So i guess in a sense it does help you do moves faster.

yea, there are couple of few other ones that are travels too, but he does them really quickly so its kinda hard to see. when you pick up your dribble, the foot that plants first is always your pivot foot. you cant take a step then plant your pivot.

not true, other wise you wouldn't be allowed to take two steps with the ball. i agree that some are travel. but at 2:45, it looks like he goes:
1st step, pump fake, 2nd step lands, pivot foot with second step, turns and fires.
but thats me. obviously i'm not a ref or anything so i could be wrong here, but thats how i saw it.

yea, u are right that u can take two steps, or rather, u can have the opportunity to have each of ur foot touch the ground once after u pick up ur dribble. hence layups. but if both of ur feet touch the ground after the ball is picked up, u can only move the foot that's not pivoted.
Kobe landed his left foot first, and that has to be his pivot foot. he's not suppose to pick up his right foot after that point. but then again, hes kobe, so he can do whatever he wants...

i'm not saying garnett is a horrible player, and i was just giving you my opinion as well. and 245 wasn't a travel. its simple, you are allowed two steps without dribbling the basketball, and kobe went:
-1st step
-pump fake
-2nd step lands
-pivots on 2nd step
-shoots the ball.
its not rocket science. you don't have to pivot with the first foot that lands without a dribble. otherwise the fact that 2 steps are allowed for layups wouldn't be true.
