What I found interesting about both endings is both "Super-Villains" are sent to two different worlds they know nothing about. Which means when "Darkseid" was sent to the "Nether Realms" forever and all eternity and "Shao Khan" was sent to the "Phantom Realm" forever and all eternity. But in their alternative endings "Darkseid" becomes the ruler of the "Nether Realms" and "Shao Khan" escapes the "Phantom Realm" and joins forces with the other villains.

I know this. I also know it has been around since the late 50's early 60's. The Phantom Zone has been around 40 years longer than Smallville. Which is why it was funny when the 12 year old female smallville fan said it was something from Smallville.

um this might be hard to explain but here we go... he did not turn him into crystals, that is a way of transporting people to the phantom Zone, A Prison that was used by Kryption for their horrible criminals so that is were superman sent him the crystals is just to make sure that you cant escape on the way there.
