@skankingstyle - Yep you can do that if you want, but there are much cheaper ways to go about doing that. Just get a small USB mixer or interface (they start at under $100) then use something like Reaper, with is an inexpensive recording software.
@MrKfannin1 - Not exactly sure what you mean. All mixers can be connected to speakers. If you're asking if this mixer has amps built in, no it does not. You would need a powered speaker or a passive speaker and amplifier.
I know this is a long shot, but does the console have a sync option? Want to sync to either Logic, Protools, or live... Also, by the looks of it - no motorized faders? Seems more dedicated for live shows...
@riccoutube2 No motorized faders and no sync. I would agree it's a live board first and studio board second. That said, it is one heck of a live recording board.
i have a question i have a cd player and if i plug this into the 2 track tape would i be able to record my cd into capture software or any software or how could i plug it into a channel like channels 1 and 2 do i need a certain wire for this also on the presonus mixer im trying to record my voice onto capture or pro logic how do i perform this action and can this be done?
Yes, there is a yellow firewire button on the tape input so it should route to the recording software. No special wires are neede (the tape inputs are RCA). I don't understand what you mean specifically about recording your voice. It will record whatever sound you plug into a channel.
If you want your vocal processor editable in post, but want it live, do this. Attach the stereo effects loops to subgroup 1(L) and subgroup 2(R) then pan the subgroups accordingly, then just send your vocal to both subgroup 1and2, send subgroup 1 and 2 to the main, and take your original vocal channel out of your main. Then record your vocal channel pre or post, and add the effect in post, using whatever software you like, that capture can export to, and boom.
if i use this in live gig, will i still need to use external eq's for my 4 mix monitors or it already has the eq's with it in the 16.4 version?and do i still need to use a driverack px for the my main powered speakers?and how about in the 24.4 version?thanks.

It depends. I find the 4 band semi parametric EQ's work fine, but for lower quality monitors and/or loud stages you may need a 31 band, which will fight feedback better, although you have to know what bands to attenuate. Not sure about the driverack. Generally there's not a lot of use for them if you have quality speakers, which already have electronic crossovers, and other DSP included in them. You certainly can use the driverack if you want.
We'll have to agree to disagree on value. Non of your other options come close to approaching the ease of use of the Presonus SL. As for no dediciated VU meter, that's simply misinformation. The #1 reason I love the board is the FULL METER BRIDGE it has. All 16 channels can be seen at once and are selectable between input/output/signal reduction - gating and compression.
the main reason not to buy this is the lakc of motorized faders, no dedicated VU meters and the inflexibility with routing. This is the 16:4:2 model for those who wonder. At the same price-tag you can buy the 01V96VCM, and for the price tag of the 24:4:2 you can buy a tascam 3200, which are both better choices for the momey. For a lot less there used to be a Behringer DDX3216, which offered motorized faders and better routing then the 16:4:2, although the amps in the 16:4:2 are a lot better.
WoW! im thinking of buying this but i do studio recording...i Do rap and will start to do bands as well once/if i get this. I just have a question...If i make a Beat/Song say in Logic or fruity loops, can you push a snare to track one on the mixer? so i can eq it on the board and not have to worry about it on the software? if you know what i mean haha
Works with anything that can run ASIO as far as I know. I'vd used it with Reaper, Capture, StudioOne, and Mixcraft. Just realize it's NOT a DAW in the traditional sense. The faders aren't motorized.
No need for outboard pres, but to be fair, that's the case with any quality mixer. The delays and verbs are fine and are editable as well and can be saved.
31 band only on mains. There is a 4 band semi-parametric on all the auxes. For me it works fine for ringing out monitors. Actually I prefer it as I can set it to "high Q" (narrower notch) and sweep the trouble frequency. All 6 auxes can be set post or pre.
It ships with a program called "Capture", but that is changing as Presonus will be shipping its new "Studio One" software. That said, you can use any multitrack recording software you'd like. I use Reaper sometimes because the Capture software doesn't support midi and I like to record the e-drums via midi and use a plug in.
can u record drums then bass guitar then guitar with this board? or do u have to record all this at the same time?? thanks for de videoand answer!!

I may not be sure what you mean. If you record the tape input there will be a track made of that input.

No you won't. You can use the fat channel on all the sub groups, the auxs and all the mains.

Dose the 31 band eq work on the 6 aux sends so you can ring out your monitor wedges?
Also is the aux send assignable for pre/post fade send?
good job on the SRV, see ya on HC
