Hands down, Kwon Boa is my favorite Kpop artist of ALL TIME. She's the one that single-handedly got me into Kpop over 8 years ago and it's so sad how fast and easily she has become overshadowed by everyone else. America doesn't care about her, and South Korea has more or less lost interest in her. Only Japan really still cares about her these days. She's incredibly talented and very intelligent, and as long as she doesn't give up, she'll always have my support!!

I live in the US. and lots of my friends/relatives are starting to know about Korean singers. Like Taeyang, Super Junior, SNSD.
Kpop may not be that known in US now but i seriously think that one day it will.
I just wish that the korean singers can have better American songs to debut with. To be honest, the singers who try to come to the US, their songs are either eng vers of korean song or song isn't that great. I just wish they had songs which fits US songs.

Yes, this was her US debut, but honestly her Korean and Japanese stuff (ie the stuff that she is KNOWN for) is amazing and way better than any of the US stuff that I hear. And I grew up on US music. So yes, BoA can be compared to artists such as those that you have listed. And before you go off on Asian idols, go listen to their music removed versions while they are singing and dancing and then tell me you think they're not as good.

@fcukbi I still think american industry is no.1 music in worldwide.Jpop and kpop although also well known but still lose some parts to american music.America music go lengthwise to produce amazing songs so people trend and follow.Boa got her own taste but recently their sm ent doesnt produce awesome songs anymore.Too much autotune and relying on electronic music.Well although this seems to be updated but too much in kpop.

I see a mixture of Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson. I don't think it hurts to introduce an Asian artist to the US, people need to be exposed to that diversity at some point - it opens doors. I think people try to hit the US market as a challenge as an artist - the US is the toughest market to make it big in, if you make it on top in the US you're amongst the top in the world anywhere. Plus there's big bucks in US showbiz like a previous commenter said.

There may even need to be an Asian American record label started by the community specifically to catapult Asian artist into mainstream American pop culture. Every ethnicity has had to start their own companies by their own people for their people in order to get recognized, because greater America wasn't going to recognize it any other way.
