When thats done. Check your msconfig (run > msconfig) to uncheck any weird programs or "no-named" startup programs. Also check Add/Remove programs to uninstall anything like: "Free blabalba" and "Internet Optimizer". In most cases these "applications" are less then 5MB and uninstall within seconds. What also helps is resetting Internet Explorer (if in use) via tools > internet options > advanced > reset (you can choose to lose all personal saved data).
Ofcourse you will need to burn a cd/dvd before getting infected. This piece of malware will spread itself using removable devices, so do NOT use your memory stick. Use only read-only media (cd/dvd rewritable will also work just fine, as the virus will, ofcourse, not reburn your cd/dvd.. duh)
Removing this is pretty simple. Unplug your ethernet (rj45) cable or disconnect from any wireless network. Then just run dial-a-fix to remove any forced policies (such as the background hack). Then run offline malwarebytes. When thats done, install Avast (when this is not your default antivirus program) on top of your current antivirus program, click YES on startup scan. Leave it scanning your computer (during a reboot). After removing malware, remove avast if not your paid antivirus.
@xxthedroughtxx Try and go to another computer and access the website. Then put the installation file onto a Memory Stick or CD/DVD. Go back to your computer and boot it up into safe-mode. Then open up my Computer, go the Memory Stick and then use the installation files. Job done!
I got some nasty virus last summer, it had this and turned my computer into a zombie, deleted the control panel and everything, went to firedog and they cleansed my computer= )
I went to Geek Squad and they scanned my computer. They told me I have this virus. I can't get on the internet and other annoying things. Never had my background changed or anything like that. I have tried: MalwareBytes, Superantispyware, combofix, AVG and a couple of other programs. Nothing helps. @jonafie123 A virus is a piece of software code it cannot damage pc hardware, yes it can wipe files from a system such as registry entries like hardware drivers, it cannot physically damage hardware.
if the virus had been removed and ur pc is still fucked up , it means that the registry values that the fucken virus created are not removed from the registry editor !
so i advice u to find somone who can delete these valus or u can delete it by ur self if u know how...

Your lost C drive.
Run... "gpedit.msc" goto User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Explorer/ and click on the key "Hide these speciefied drives in My Computer" put it to disabled. If this key is not the problem it can be "Remove Acces to drives from My Computer".
spybot only runs when your doing a virus scan, buuut you can have it running all the time (i choose not too) i dont find it makes it lag but it notifies you whenever something in yourr registry is being changed, which is what this virus does (changes ur registry) so its a good idea to have it on... the programs pretty basic and my computers gettin pretty old and i dont find it makes my computer lag
if you want to make sure that you have removed everything I would suggest you to start from scratch. Why?? Most people leave their System Restore point enabled the whole time and viruses as well as hackers can hide there very easily. If you want to be 100% sure you got all this off start from the scratch. I have had that before as well and it really sucks but that way you are secure 100%

Kaspersky is pretty good as well but still it doesn't remove ALL viruses...
If you have an adware and your desktop's background was deleted or permanently blocked, I suggest you CLEAN UP your whole entire disk and just install everything again
it's too late to do anything when that happens, trust me.
Note: If you already have an antivirus installed and a warning popped out of nowhere in the middle and if it's from a browser telling you to install antivirus 2008 or etc.... DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING. That message was generated by the adware itself hiding in the browser.

1. Avast Pro 4.8 <--- top rated on my list
2. AVG is fine, but not that complete.
3. Norton 360 <---- for some reasons people like norton, but in my opinion, it sucks balls.
Where can I get a copy of this Rogue Antivirus.. I want to throw it on a virtual machine and compile a program to perform a complete repair... I doubt it will take 5 hours though.... lol That's too much time google searching bud. All you need is some system monitors, reproduce the scenario and go from there. I do it all the time. If you still need help with your machine, I would be more than happy to go through registry entries with you to verify clean and bad.

I know. I had this before. My advice is to download Kaspersky Internet Security Trial on another computer. Then install it in safe mode, restart in normal then update it. Restart your computer in safe mode and scan.

When you start up windows, press ctrl + alt + delete as soon as the desktop comes up. Click "Processes", then take off all the processes you don't know what they do. (Windows will warn you if you can't). (NOTE: The antivirus 2008 usually disguises itself as many random numbers/characters). Now, when you finish that, open up Your Programs File Folder and right click something called like rey4-9090903skd random stuff.. Then, Right click that WHOLE folder, and delete it.

Mac is simply more safe because there's no interest to spread virus in such a small community of users at least compared to Windows.
Linux with the thousands of users giving input is problably the safest system. Actually I think there was a competition to see who could crack the fastest the three main operating systems.

I tried all the virus programs they didn't work. The only way it got off of my computer was just to system restore,I know it is drastic, but it works. Just click start- all programs- accessories- system tools- system restore.
But however that stupid virus added a restore point onto my computer that would still make me have the virus- so I had to go to search- all files and folders- look under file drives c&d- then type in system restore- then delete the one which was modified most recently.

Nope, it's gladly gotten rid of. It was pretty easy, All I did was get norton to run a scan and wipe it out, use hijackthis to edit it from the reg, and then I ran the comp in safe mode and deleted all the virus files from system32.

In 17 years of internet use I have never used an resident AV program as I find they cause more problems than they solve.
AV company's basically prey on new users paranoia of becoming infected to sell their products.
A weekly scan with a program such as malware bytes or bitdefender will do, if you really feel the need.
Even if you are infected they are a fairly easy fix if you have a bit of registry knowledge.

if you get any fake programs like AntiVirus 2009 or any fake spyware program i recommend downloading Malwarebytes' Anti Malware do a quick scan then also download Super AntiSpyware and do a full scan remember to update before scanning should remove all files to that fake junk

I had that wallpaper(alittle different though,it has a link),but I changed my wallpaper,and I don't have that problem.
..I keep on getting popup's,though.
I didn't even go on any odd websites,I was on Youtube then my computer shutted off..O_o Spyware is odd like that,I guess.

i had the virus today :( but i was able to remove it with an anti malware software (antivir didn't work) also the task manager didn't work anymore i didn't download it or something it just came out of nothing :(, i hope it's gone now

I had the same problem. u just press ctrl alt delete and then go task manager. then press new task. then type in "explorer exe." with out quotations :D there u have it.

I know. I had this before. My advice is to download Kaspersky Internet Security Trial on another computer. Then install it in safe mode, restart in normal then update it. Restart your computer in safe mode and scan.

anyways go to google and type in ad-aware and then download that program
it will scan it like its doing right now on my pc and i have 124 infections then just wait for it to finish and quarentine it then DESTROY

7) now use your spybot to scan and delete
8) when done close everything down and right click on the god damned fucking warning background then go settings (the lowest 1 on the list and open it up
9) now you should get those WALLPAPER and BACKGROUND files- if not let me now im free of it and will help otheres
10) finally go start shut down and RESTART your computer

6) scan this file with whatever protection u have (spybot wont help u wit that one) or if no scan system in stock go amnualy find the giberish u took off in msconfig and if its not there skip this step!if found scroll down my computer and press ctrl alt delete and press processes. find the look for the the previuosly mentioned giberish and stop that proccess AND NOTHING ELSE. now delete the

this is what u do
instructions for those in need
1) start-open-type msconfig-wait 4 a pop up
2)got to the section thats second from the right(on top)
3)take out the the wierd lookin files in there if you goy any questions about what to to take out or not right it in comments below
4) after u do that and close the pop up it will tell u to restart the system (Dont Do it)
5) got to my computer-c system files or whatever you have it named press windows than system 32 and let it load.

Here's an easy way...
When you start up windows, press ctrl + alt + delete as soon as the desktop comes up. Click "Processes", then take off all the processes you don't know what they do. (Windows will warn you if you can't). (NOTE: The antivirus 2008 usually disguises itself as many random numbers/characters). Now, when you finish that, open up Your Programs File Folder and right click something called like rey4-9090903skd random stuff.. Then, Right click that WHOLE folder, and delete it.

Of course it doesn't show up :p That's be to easy. Now, the virus itself integrates into your svchost.exe (Located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\svchost.exe) if it's like my computer, and it won't let you delete it, system restore. OR Option 1: If you have McAfee, go into the McAfee shredder and "shred" svchost.exe then restart, the file will automatically re-add itself. Option 2: Google something like windows removal software and remove svchost.exe. Get back to me on this, it worked for me.

Mac is simply more safe because there's no interest to spread virus in such a small community of users at least compared to Windows.
Linux with the thousands of users giving input is problably the safest system. Actually I think there was a competition to see who could crack the fastest the three main operating systems.
Linux (not sure with version)
Mac (newest one)
Windows (Vista)
Mac was the first to fall dude followed by Vista and then Linux which actually was never cracked.

I tried all the virus programs they didn't work. The only way it got off of my computer was just to system restore,I know it is drastic, but it works. Just click start- all programs- accessories- system tools- system restore.
But however that stupid virus added a restore point onto my computer that would still make me have the virus- so I had to go to search- all files and folders- look under file drives c&d- then type in system restore- then delete the one which was modified most recently.

This virus also comes as an email attatchment.
If you get an email titled "Statement of fees 2008/09" and it comes with a zip attatched DO NOT OPEN the zip.
And Linux is the best way to avoid infection.

Nope, it's gladly gotten rid of. It was pretty easy, All I did was get norton to run a scan and wipe it out, use hijackthis to edit it from the reg, and then I ran the comp in safe mode and deleted all the virus files from system32.

i got it yesterday and i just downloaded MALEWAREBYTES. theres a site that gives you direction, and it was pretty easy to follow.
