  • Anyone else notice that his outfit and hair is the same as the Ben Stiller character 'White Goodman' when he goes to seduce Kate in Dodgeball? 'There's no resisting White Goodman when he puts on his shiny shoes...'

  • superb

  • this should be the theme song for a VIAGRA commercial LOL "Get that feeling again"...try VIAGRA ;-)

  • @nazreyes

you are so right. Your comment made me laugh out loud, thank you

  • Lovely song. But what i can't understand is, why he has his piano stool set so high. I guess it makes him more visible, but it can't make playing the piano very easy!

  • karen carpenters is much better than this, karen have feelings when singing, she makes you feel connected when hearing her voice.

  • Barry showed up in my dream last night and he was singing this song.

  • I didn't know David Pomeranz wrote this song but I heard his version. and this song is that old? such a timeless classic. I was born in the wrong decade it seems.

  • One of the great all time love sonnets....Barry Manilow and the writer, convey Willie Shake the spear...with words and melodies...I LOVE MUSIC...BARRY....

    Larry

  • BARRY MANILOW!! American Treasure!

Let us all be grateful that we have a YouTube to watch the great Barry Manillow at each stage of his career! Any other comments other than "Barry comments" are unnecessary and inappropriate to this place!

Guys! The focus is on this great icon of American music! Reflect on this!!

  • BARRY MANILOW!

    AMERICAN MUSICAL TREASURE!

This is one of Barry's great performances in his prime!! May I suggest that comments relate to Barry, not other nonsense!

It is truly a Thanksgiving gift and everyday gift to have YouTube videos of Barry.

Let us all appreciate that gift!!!

  • Didn't Jamie Gum kill FredericaBimble and leave her face down in the river in Silence of The Lambs?

  • This takes me back......

  • Barry Manilow on Lopez brought me here.

  • I hated Barry Manilow when I was kid, froced to listen to him for years by my mum, his music drove me mad. Now at 30, I own all of his music, absolutely brilliant.

  • BARRY MANILOW!

I watch this video many times!

Barry's passion and love for music + his great talent really show in this performance!

It is a beautiful song, composed by David Pomeranz. But Barry made it a big hit, with his love of music, great voice and passion!

Barry is now a beloved singer world-wide!

He has sold over 85 million albums and brought great joy to the world!

  • Those dumb broads ruin this for me. And I love this song....dumb broads, wherever you are.

  • @OhJaniceWhyOhWhy - Wow, bitter much? How do you KNOW they are "dumb broads?" You must really hate yourself because for someone to be that ugly about others, it is ALWAYS a case of the person's inner landscape being really sad, lonely and depressing. Try making yourself happy and then SHARE that happiness and joy. You aren't going to lift yourself up by putting others down. This is a fact of life.

  • we love you barry forever

  • Wasn't a Manilow fan in the 70's but wow, this song and 'Daybreak' has made me a convert....

  • Sorry, but I do prefer the Carpenters version. No competition!

  • MANILOW=THE BEST POP MALE SINGER IN THE PAST SIXTY YEARS!

Sinatra fan here now acknowledging that I find Barry Manilow just about equal to the great Frank Sinatra in do many ways!

I love Barry's Ballad singing! All "his songs" are truly beautiful ones! He sings them with verve and passion and love!

Message to Barry Manilow: As your grandfather said to you when you were ten years old: "Sing, Barry, Sing." The World loves your Music! Grandpa is still giving you that standing ovation!!!!

  • dont know why some wont admit this man sang some of the Most beautiful Love songs ever!!!!! sing it Barry!

  • BARRY MANILOW - IN HIS PRIME!

Barry right here in the 1970's was at his prime vocally!

A Beautiful Song! Also peformed with Passion and Great Vocal Prowess by The Incredible BARRY MANILOW!

This is really a great performance by Barry!!!

  • GREAT BARRY MANILOW!

Wow! Barry in his 1970 youthful vigor performed this song fantastically here!

    Just a Beautiful Ballad!!

  • IF YOU ARE AGE 30 OR UNDER:

To all the young gentlemen and ladies 30 or under: For decades there have been great artists like Barry Manilow who just were very popular a bit before your time. Please explore other artists on YouTube like Barry Manilow who are incredible singers and performers. Examples: Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Michael Buble,

Tony Bennett, Gene Kelly ("Singing in the Rain"), and others like these! I think you will all be fascinated!

  • I thought Bieber and Gaga represensted what music is all about....but after seeing this performance....wow!

  • What a passion to sing! Great Barry since being a "baby" Manilow!

  • too funny how the ladies kept looking at the camera

  • MANILOW!

This young Manilow is one incredible singer. I love the passion and emotion he brings to this ballad!

  • BARRY MANILOW!

Barry was great in the 1970's and still is!

I think this song is one of the most heartfelt songs Barry sings! It was beautifully composed! Barry here with his 1970's youthful voice, energy, and vocal prowess sings it just perfectly. A Great Performance!

  • BARRY MANILOW! The verdict is in!

Barry is in a class by himself, at the very top of the talent list when it comes to great ballad singers! This gentleman loves his music, and it shows! Each ballad Barry sings is a thing of beauty, great phrasing, and vocal perfection! Barry, together with Frank Sinatra are the two top singers of the past 60 years!!!

  • Up, down, tryin' to get the feelin' again!!!

  • Sadly the guys seem to be more into him than the airhead girls

  • For years I thought he was saying, Laurie" instead of "Or I". Eh, a girl can dream.

  • I never get tired of hearing this song.

In fact, I NEVER get tired of hearing Barry Manilow sing anything!

Great emotion when he sings. I love that.

  • Barry Manilow and Karen Carpenter for me are the two best ballad singers of the last 40 years. They both sang with such sincerity, and neither had to over sing a song in order to achieve so much emotional depth and beauty!

  • @pffortes I agree, but I have to also say that one of the ALL time GREATEST female singer

with sincerity, depth, etc. is Barbar Streisand. -- What A VOICE?!!

  • I'm always suprised thet viagra never used this song for its commercials. :)

  • So, is there a jackass who wants to dispute this is live?

  • LOL, has this audience never seen a camera before! LOL

I still love Barry Manilow's songs. He was one of my favorites thirty-something years ago and he still is!

  • BARRY MANILOW! WOW!

I NOW TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THE SUCCESS OF BOTH MANILOW AND SINATRA! Both Frank and Barry are "story-singers of love." They sing about love found, love sought, unreturned love and we all relate to such songs! The songs are beautiful and touch each of us emotionally! We feel that the song(s) relate to our lives, and the words actually often do! Enough analysis! Manilow is A Great Singer!!!

  • OMG, this is 35 years old.

  • @jamessmedley82 I was 14 years old then and loved Barry Manilow.

  • @renecrod3 I was minus six years old then, and I too love Barry Manilow. He's special.

  • @renecrod3: I too was 14 years old in '76. This was the song that truly did me in :-) !

  • Yes, he is a cute piano man! I'm glad that I've seen him in concert at least twice.

  • the cutest piano man!!!

  • Barry's voice back then was approaching his peak, strong booming, nasal clarity, totally equipped to belt over the choral blitz of full orchestras, especially live in concert, wher its sink or swim.Piano stool is set high for max. presentation and visability for audience, he's a lanky 6'2" with long arms to reach. As for the ditzy chicks, they're stoned and if they were out in the London Fog, Jack the Ripper might get 'em.

  • Probably one of his BEST songs ever placed on an album. It blows away all others who attempted to record this song. AWESOME!

  • amzingly great..........

i do hope one day i can see him perform!!!1

  • I never noticed when I was a kid, but he is saying he's at the doctor explaining that he needs something because he's been "Up" "down" and trying to get the feeling again.

hmmm. They have something for that now.

  • Host talked over the vocals. One of the first things a DJ learns not to do. The piano stool is too high.

  • How beautiful was he....? Such a lovely voice. I was in love with him and his music in the 70's.

  • I don't get it cause he's already such a tall person. It looks uncomfortable!

  • why is his piano stool so high? that looks weird.

  • @LilBunnyFooFoo1 I would guess his piano stool is high like that so that the camera can get a well-framed shot of his face and shoulders.

  • @LilBunnyFooFoo1 I would guess his piano stool is high like that so that the camera can get a well-framed shot of his face and shoulders. But, yes, it does look funny from the side!

  • in my opinion, one his best tunes.......killer changes...great tune

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Young Barry Manillow!..still awesome until now..=)

  • Billboard's #94 song of '76. Barry hit #1 AC, #10 in Billboard. Since this clip's from Top of the Pops, how'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • Great live performance of this incredible song

  • There is no other like him - long live Barry Manilow!

  • aren't we all just trying to get that feeling again?

  • Is this song about Viagra?!

  • @888music I've said that all along!!! It sure does sound like a Viagra commercial! LOL

  • Quite the song!

  • Why is he almost standing?

  • @mrspresidenta Cause the girls in the front row were being a pain in the a**

  • He was something else during the 70s! One hit after another. Those ladies are too busy talking to each other to even appreciate what they're seeing!!

  • One of my favorite songs on Barry's.

Those girls just missed the biggest opportunity of their lives.

  • mr manilow CLASS from a HETROSEXUAL 42 YR OLD thank u

  • This is a great Live version of this song. Barry was right on with his voice.

If you ever lost love this is a song you will relate too.

Those Goofy kids in the audience kept looking back and took away from the Barry's performance

  • Dayum...what a voice !

  • What the heck..this set looks like Larry King ...wonder if he will ask him about sexual preference!

  • Barry's got great hair here! Like it!

  • @123Rockchild

He actually looks like White Goodman (Ben Stiller) from Dodgeball when he puts on his white leather outfit to chat up the accountant at her house! It's gotta be the hair, feathered and lethal!

  • Wonderful song but surprised the creators of Viagra haven't requested to use this in their ad campaign!

  • barry manilow is one of the best!

  • hit #1 AC, #10 pop, in Billboard. How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg it failed completely in the UK, most of his late laste 70s singles failed in the UK, mores the pity as he is fantastic

  • This is no easy song to sing, and he pulls it off effortlessly. I have always admired the quality of his live performances.

  • I don't care what people say, Barry is a great artist !

  • LINDO !!!

  • Why do those dumb bitches keep turning around? They're messing up Manilow's groove!

  • @mrphutman really! why are they there? apparently not to listen to barry sing. bimbos.

  • HE'S THE BEST... EVER!

  • can't believe how high up he is sitting,

maybe so the audience can see him?

  • those women are just standing there like lemons, not realising theyre watching one of the best singers in the world

  • @janicepjam I was gonna say that....this performance makes me want to jump out of my skin...and everyone's just standing there like it's nothing.

  • True but what do want them to do? Throw various articles of clothing at him? Barry is not interested in women, NOT that there is anything wrong with that.

  • @janicepjam I agree. The blonde girl in the front row with the red rose in her hair seems to be more concerned about the overhead camera than she is about listening to one of best songs ever composed.

  • @janicepjam Agreed! They have no clue...and they're all about themselves. Barry is great and those dolts ruin the video.

  • @janicepjam you mean Lemmings?

  • @janicepjam Yeah, but have you ever noticed that about 70's TOTP audiences? Absolutely NO-ONE seemed to impress them! They were more interested in looking behind them to see if the camera was on them.

  • @janicepjam Bloody idiots. All of them.

  • @janicepjam LOL the blonde honey up front is more concerned with showing up on camera than watching this incredible singer!

  • @janicepjam many girls dont appreciate attractive males.they only see males as meal tickets.and as far as they're conscerned, any meal ticket will do.barry manilow looks GREAT here.and he's doing a GREAT job.

  • Just beautiful !

  • My favorite Barry Tune...Ah High School memories

  • Just Love this clip of Barry..... Thanks for adding this great upload! I just uploaded a Barry Manilow clip myself.

  • Stunning. The master!

  • Classic Barry! Awesome!

  • heart opening- love barry

  • love Barry wonderful singer clean voice

  • beatiful video best quolity

  • Bassa sings the same version as his recording here but claims he was miffed that the two bridges that Pomeranz sings ( 'Read every book ... etc. ) were cut from the record for 'timing' reasons ( see Songfacts ) and his subsequent performances included the bridges. Not so here - anyone know where there is a full version ? I also prefer his opening lyrics ( Doctor my woman ... ) to the Pomeranz/Carpenters version

  • couldn't agree more FallDH - a hellishly complex song to sing and he does it effortlessly. A masterclass in tasteful, sincere ( without being melodramatic ) singing that is a model for every singer

  • Love the straight, pure vocals - perfect phrasing - what an awesome song, nobody did these songs better than Barry too.

  • nice
