any suggestions on how to further optimize the performance? except upgrading to 2 gigs of RAM

absolutely, Win 7 works great. I would recommend an SSD upgrade. Runcore, Super Talent and Intels X25 are super fast (google for the right one and make sure the 4K write speed benchmark is above 10MB and your system will fly)

I have a 100he, its a solid netbook, but the battery isnt 9.5 hours, its more like 6

just got it last week, but still, most laptops are like 2-3 hours so im not mad at asus. I could maybe get 9.5 but you have to turn everything down

I just bought one of these yesterday..its really cool..the only problem was it has no DVD - rom because its tiny and only 1.3 megapixel camera but still its a good PC..gotta love Eee PC

im debating on if i should keep my laptop that i have now, or get this netbook. I like the style and protability of the netbook a lot better vs a laptop, and im not a gamer of anysort on my gateway laptop, i wouldnt need all that, but i do want a device that is fast and can all my daily needs quick and easy, can this machine do that?

Just got mine, the wifi is not as good as my m15x but it's a netbook. Plenty of hard drive space, the mousepad can be very annoying. for example, when you are browsing the web if you are moving slowly it will either stop or click something random. But a usb mouse fixes that.

love it. The battery is much better than i thought. it can sit on a shelf for 3 days in sleep mode and you open it up and its on instantly with 80% battery

-using it right now instead of my 24" lcd hp.

also, you put 2 fingers on the track pad and you can scroll a webpage. cool

There are so many netbooks out there, and most of them are very good.

but, the matte screen, the 6 cell battery, the latest atom, and chicklet keyboard sealed the deal for me.

yes enjoy the last matte screen in the history of notebooks and netbooks. mine is coming as a replacemnt for 1000h. not sure if should keep it just for the screen. "next gen" eee all gloss mirror. even on the inside, even the fan is glossy )))

9 hours for real?? I owned the 1000HA and it was advertised as lasting 7,7.5 hours..and I was lucky to get up to 3.5 hours from normal use.I'll be happy if I get 7+ hours on this.I just hope these battery life claims aren't over bloated for once.Also this new Atom is a lot better hopefully,because the old one was inadequate IMO..can't even stream videos on youtube smoothly.

I have one it works great and on high performance it will last you 8h at least. Also when windows 7 comes out all that has to be to run windows 7 on this laptop is to install windows xp then run windows 7 its that simple.
