without a muzzlebreak on the max load in a 40lb rifle, the recoil is like dropping a 40lb ball from 16ft. (601ft/lbs at 31fps) but with the muzzlebreak it brings it down to 210.35lbs at 18fps, about the same speed as a large shotgun shell (speed is the problem, not energy, a 2-bore is manageable with 500lbs of recoil at 20fps)

@zooders they're meant to be efficient at absorbing recoil, meaning that it doesn't have to weigh a ton, based on how little extra metal there is it looks like it would weigh around 60, maybe 70 at the most.

@technotorch not quite, the 210lbs of recoil is impressive, but it'll just hurt, it's not strong enough to knock over a car. besides the speed of the recoil is slow, and it would be like a shotgun, a slow but forceful push. you'll know when it's fired, as will everyone within 5 miles (it's deafeningly loud within 50yds), but it wont knock you over, let alone a car.

@linksys01112 This thing couldn't touch anything at 4 miles, the furthest shot I've even heard of was 2100 yards which is about 1.5 miles. A .50 cal can barely reach 1800 yards. And before you bash a .22 caliber, the M4/M16 shoots a .22, the AK74 shoots one a little smaller. Also it's only 15x as powerful, not 45.

This rifle like the MTW 20 use a shorter 20 mm round, not terribly useful against modern battle tanks, except for harassing fire. It is very good for light armored vehicles, and earth/timber bunkers, its also perfect for getting at snipers, and ambush shooters hiding behind masonry walls, vehicles. Anti-Tank work is mostly the realm of missiles, and rockets, as these provide a good solution most of the time. Still, not against Chabham armor on the latest tanks.

The .50 is not as powerful as any of the present 20mm rounds, only about 1/3 the energy of a 20 mm. .50's are marginal at best against modern light armor, they are shaped to prevent penetration by .50's. Some bunkers will be good targets, but the 20 will get them every time. The 50 is cheaper, and can be used by one person, which is desirable in the field, but not if it cant get the job done.

For this paticular gun maybe not, cuz im not sure what it is, but yes theres plenty of rifles that can neutralize tanks. the M82A1 can pierce armor, and that thing isnt even strong compared to actual anti tank rifles.

well, that is unusual, M1 Abrams eventhough its quite old is still a ver capable tank =). It is unusual that a 20mm round can blow a hole in it, but that depends on ERA, angle, where it hit and so on. The Challenger 2 that we use in one battle, sustained 17 RPG hits xD.
