i got my longboard today and i am a street skater but i love just cruising down hills! its so weird you feel like you are going to fall off but you don't! this video helped a lot thanks! : D
@TheUsernameomg I have Sector 9 Seedling, I love it! You will want Abec 3 bearings, if you want to go faster use Sector 9 Ceramics, these are like racing bearings so be careful. The trucks are good so don't worry about them. For wheels, this comes with 65 mm wheels which is tiny, you will want to get some grippy 70 mm wheels, if you get wheels that are bigger than that you will get bad wheel bite which hurts. Dont loosen the trucks to much or your turns you will give you wheel bite.

one bearing seemed like more stable than the others or I dk if it was just me. also some of the wheels make a tiny ticking noice that u can pretty much only hear it when u get close to them but then on one or two wheels don't have that almost at all. so I would like to know tips on how to know when your bearings are missplaced or failing or any of the sort
what would you say of bearings? I recently cleaned my bearings by taking the wheels apart, I also cleaned my wheels with dish soap. The bearings I pretty much just tried to take the dirt of with a cloth and just placed them back, but I wasn't sure if there was a correct way to put them on since my bearings have plates on both sides with logos. I rode my board after that and it seemed fine. but by taking a good look at the bearings while I spinned the wheels I could notice one bearing seemed
So the only difference is the width and the trucks... But is long boarding kinda like roller baldin or something because my friend said that long boarding is far easier then skateboarding...
@MrImpossible96 Longboards are wider so it does make it a little easier in that sense. However, the trucks on a longboard maybe less tighten than a skateboard and a longboard rolls more as well
@VeloceLongboard true a longboard is more smooth and the trucks have more flexibility, I wouldn't exactly say is more stable actually my first board I got on on was a loaded from a store and I was amazed of how flexy and sort of hard to manuever and be stable it was. In my opinion skateboards are alittle more stable but once you get used to a longboard it feels so chill to be on them.
Hey, Im new to longboarding and Im trying to create my own board. Do bearing come inside of the wheel, or do I have to spend more money to buy those too? Also, which is better? 70mm or 75mm? Thanks dude.
@NpopGG No bearings are separate and the wheels are a matter of preference but if your wheels are too big you might get wheel bite so that depends on your board
@trainmasterup both longboards are Sector9, the green one i believe is the Sector9 Shattered, and the red one is the Sector9 Nicaragua. I'm not completely sure. Go Longboarding!!!
i always have trouble with skateboards and have recently bought one but wen i use it on the roads it doesnt go very far and i have to keep on pushing with my legs could u tell me how the long board is different, please reply because am going to buy a longboard
@Xpro786 getting better bearing will help you go farther and and just like you i bought my first longboard and it is great! its alot different than a skateboard but easy to get used to
I would lke to know what the best longboard is. OKay. Ive only rode 1 a couple of times and i really did like it, so m getting 1 for my birthday. I need a good one thats not to expensive. Any ideas????
This is a very basic question...but I can't seem to turn without losing my balance especially when I lean backwards (riding regular, turning left). Do I turn using both feet or just one? Any advice? Thanks!!
@dudewerdman1 DEFIANTLY! With bigger trucks, wheels, and deck, longboarding is ideal for cruising. Also, it allows you to travel faster than a skateboard.
@VeloceLongboard hey guys i gotta question how do you know which longboard is for you personally?? i am looking at globe longboards are they any good?
Um I'm chubby and not very stable and today I tried going down a tiny hill and I just jumped off. Because if I have my protection gear on I don't mind falling but I wasn't wearing it bc I was showing my friend my new longboard. My question is how to a practice balancing and keep my feet and legs in the same direction. Bc if one goes carve up my other goes care down.

@SentosaTheShemo We both skated a little with regular skateboards but not much. For the most part we sort of just jumped into longboarding and it doesn't really matter if you start off riding one or the other first.
you need to be extremely careful when using WD-40 or other water-based cleaners on your bearings. yes, there's a bearing shield, but when some of that stuff seeps in the bearings it wont be able to dry unless taken apart. take the bearings off, take the shields of, put them in a gatorade bottle 1/4 full of 90-99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, shake for about 2-3 minutes and reinstall shields after drying with a blow dryer. its much better for your bearings and will keep them spinning freely.
omg ur so fucking lucky that u have a clear, unbusy road with no cracks whatsoever. i can never ride on my street its way too fucking busy and forget the sidewalks, cracks are huge.
@mrblackopskiller1 Its all preference really. If you want crusing and carving go for looser trucks and if you want to do down hill then you might want tigher trucks
look, you did an alright job, i already know how to and my channel isnt for my longboarding, but your speed tuck is seriously wrong at the end, i dont know if you know that ut thats the way your going to end up on the floor. otherwise nice video :)
hahahaha...i cracked up when they started to session and were only going like 2 mph :D.....does anyone know how to prevent speed wobbles i got them realllly bad going down steep ass hill and smacked my head on a curb...are there any methods?
@snasuage You should tighten your trucks and keep your feet firmly planted and sometimes sticking your arms out like you are surfing can help as well. Also if you want you can get wider wheels for incresed balance. Thanks for the comment! :)
For the most part, this vid is one for beginners. One tip though, silicone spray is way better on bearings and trucks than wd40. It keeps then nicer longer, but wd40 does work also.
Omg, stop being negative. This video was made because people (for example me) wants to know how to longboard. He showed basic stuff, and it was really helpfull. If you want to see some pro people longboarding, then search that, and not "loangboarding for beginners".
Dude thats not how your meant to clean your bearings, you need to take your wheels off and take out the bearings, then wash them. If you wanna grease them up go for it but I would clean them first. You might also consider getting something that isn't a sector 9? Earthwing and Landyachtz are great.
If i wanna start longboarding wat type of board do you suggest? Like ive been skating for like a few years so i hav some experence. Can any one help?
@BallsMcFlapTub1 Judging by your size i wouldn't get a board that is made of bamboo or has "Flex". I would recommend a Landyartchz Long Board or a Rayne Board. The reason i suggest that is because it is made of stiff Canadian maple and should be fine for you weight, but if you want something a little less pricey then i would get a Sector 9 Brandy, downhill division.
I hope that answered your Questions, if you have anymore feel free to ask.
Spraying your bearings with compressed air doesn't clean your bearings, it just cleans the shields. You need to soak them in some sort of mineral spirit and give them a good shake to clean them properly. And wd40 just attracts dirt, it doesn't lube the bearings. Just get some speed cream. Also, carving does't effectively shave off speed, it infact makes you gain speed. Sliding is the best and safest way to stop. You two are stupid. Know what you're talking about before making a video.
@Dakin15 Thanks For the help, we were young when we made that and didn't expect it to get so many views but, Carving Decreases speed because it adds friction to the road, pumping rather increases your speed do to side to side momentum. Yes, Sliding is an effective and safe way to stop but this is a video for "beginners" and i highly doubt them to be able to do slides and most likely they would be riding flat ground. Finally the reason we used wd-40 is because we live in the south, where it rains.
@TheFontanesi1212 yeah skate boarding will help you already get used to riding and doing some tricks and shoes shouldn't really matter too much; skate shoes are just for added protection when you fall.
@feltheman2010 it someways it is, you turn your snowboard with just your front foot usually, but on a longboard you use both back and front feet to turn
@kingsandqueens01 for your shoes you just have to be carfeful or use an old pair when skating. to not break your arm you should be careful, wear nessasary safety gear, and ride inside your limits
Hey i watched the vid nice work im a beginner to i made a vid plzz check it out and like and subscribe its called Bittern skate sesh.

Dude thats not how your meant to clean your bearings, you need to take your wheels off and take out the bearings, then wash them. If you wanna grease them up go for it but I would clean them first. You might also consider getting something that isn't a sector 9? Earthwing and Landyachtz are great.
Cool vid with good intentions though (:

@NatPradoTheory Ryan's board is 39.5 inches (i think) and its a sector 9 sandwedge.
I hope that answered your Questions, if you have anymore feel free to ask.

nice video. do you have any suggestions as to what kind of longboard i get. im not looking to do anything crazy. im 6ft 4, and about 215lbs
BallsMcFlapTub1 1 year ago

Finally the reason we used wd-40 is because we live in the south, where it rains.

awsome vid but 2 questions. I skate bord dose that help? And dose it matter what shoes you wear? well thanks
TheFontanesi1212 1 year ago
@TheFontanesi1212 yeah skate boarding will help you already get used to riding and doing some tricks and shoes shouldn't really matter too much; skate shoes are just for added protection when you fall.

@feltheman2010 it someways it is, you turn your snowboard with just your front foot usually, but on a longboard you use both back and front feet to turn

Is there anyother way to stop then screwing up my $85 shoes or risk at braking my arm?
kingsandqueens01 1 year ago
@kingsandqueens01 for your shoes you just have to be carfeful or use an old pair when skating. to not break your arm you should be careful, wear nessasary safety gear, and ride inside your limits
