$30 to start. Load windows 7 = +$130 = $160. Ship to USA = +$100= $260. Taxes = +$300. = $560. ==same price we pay in USA for the same thing. Then, if you want to attach the SONY brand name and get a SONY warranty, its automatically +$200. That brings it to a whopping $760.

Sorry India, but this is how business is done in the USA.

However, the fact remains that no matter how cheap any country makes a product, the US will manage to jack up that price to sell it here all in the name of profit. i buy acer aspire one in 195$ spec. 1.5 gb ram 80 gb hdd 9.1 inch display 224mb vga LAN, wify, 3 usb ports.external vga, and rocking win 7. Howz that...

this is the real cheeper and fully extra ordinary laptop.

Frankly speaking 400 mhz is not good b/c most of the sites are now become too heavy that they need atleast 1ghz processor. if u just want to use only word then it is good but not good for surfing...

They should make some sort of device that holds useful sections of Wikipedia, and use them to distribute knowledge to the most undereducated and accessible parts of the world. There was a bit of breakthrough with the $100 dollar laptop initiatives a while back but I'm not sure if those had an encyclopedia or if those programs really panned out at all.
