To the above people who do not really know why he bombed himself up, just to tell you guys it is because his equipment triggers a skill that will almost double his attack power and a decent amount of defense when his health is below 40%. That's why he can kill that fast.

He blows himself up to make it more challenging, I think...

He blows himself up to activate Hidden Strength. He does it in all of his movies. It adds 90 defense and 1.5x what your attack usually is at 40% or less health.
