i have a friend who simply did not understand what it is about country music that gets to me. i tried to explain what it feels like to have that amazing, homey, down-right feel... she didn't really know. i tried to tell her about how much country can affect the artists through the fans... she just shook her head.

He mentions this on the Summer in 3D DVD, it had nothing to do with the song or who it was about. He said it was because it suddenly hit him that he would not be where he is today if it weren't for the fans and all of the seemingly "small gigs" that he had done over the years and it was overwhelming.

I seen this on his summer in 3D movie, I grew up listen to kenny and when he sang this song I developed a greater respect for this man, he cares about his fans and when he lost his voice at the end of this concert he kept trying to sing thru the tears, the fans finished singing the song for him. This is what I love about country music it's real and comes from the heart..

I dont feel like that was why he was crying.. I was thinking maybe because of the song. I belive that the fans were singing it because he was crying, so he wasnt singing, SO THEY DID. lol. Thats what I think. What I mean by, "i think he was crying because of the song", was "Better as a Memory." I think he still loves whoiever the song is about.

I went to 4 of his shows that year and he choked up on this song at every show. It got old after the second show. It was planned and so obvious. I love Kenny just as much as the next guy but it was WEAK!!!!!

@slostboyz420 this was the last show of his 2009 tour, this song became so emotional because he decided not to tour in 2010. He said in his 3D movie that it hit him what the fans helped him build....

@alegitpieceofshit I should clarify though, part of the reason I watched it so many times is because from October 26th- Thanksgiving of 2010 I was stuck at home pretty much in bed, having a home nurse coming once a week while i recovered from an emergency appendectomy so i had A LOT of free time on my hands

@jeta45 while i do wish i got to hear more of his gorgeous voice in this video, If you saw summer in 3D Better as a memory is from this show and he talks about how much it meant to him to hear the fans sing the words when he couldn't.... This was one of the most emotional nights on tour 4 him... I get teary eyed when i watch this part of Summer in 3D....

this is in the movie - much better sound quality of the audience singing the song. the crowd sings the song perfectly when he has to stop, and kenny comments that he realized how close he is to his fans. he said something like that when he loses his voice they sing the song for him. he was really really moved by this last song of the 2009 tour.

oh my god! i have always thought he was sexy...but seeing him let his emotions out like that magnifies it ten-fold! when i first saw him crying to this song in the movie i cried right along with him. I wish i could have been there to wipe his tears away.
