@Horsti2k It was raining that day. Simon usually wears a cap like that. I guess as Simon's older brother, and employer he asserted his rights to confiscate it in the rain.
Pete would say :"It;s my fucking song, I fucking wrote it, I can do whetever the the fuck, I fucking want," ! I might have missed a Fuck, or two, but I hope I captured the essebce
Pete wants to live in the moment and create in the moment.....not many are capable of doing that. Sometimes it comes off sometimes not. Give him credit for putting his ass on the line trying something new on spot.
not really a change up, more like a fuck up if you ask me. Nothing against Townshend or the Who, i love em. But he messed up lol, but everyone does. The important thing is that he recovered gracefully.
ROCK'S GREATEST VOICE ! GREAT MOD BAND ! THE PRECURSURS OF ALTERNATIVE HEAVILY PROG ROCK AND YET NEW WAVE'S FIRST INFLUENCE BAND ! AND THE BEST BAND NAME of ALL TIMES ... : THE WHO ! ! !
the who r still with pete and rodger the best rock band in the world. and showing the kids how it should be done evry time i see them live thay just get better petes guitar playing is amazing
great song, but it was better in ulm 7-23-06. I've got it on cd/dvd and it's more powerful than the who's next remastered or the odds and sodds version.
I agree it is better than who's next remastered and odds and sods, but it's not better than their 1982 tour. They don't even have John Enwistle on bass, so ulm it was better in 1982. Their new bass player is a joke compared to Entwistle.
I agree. This song is always great, but I saw them in Boulder in '82 and Townshends guitar solo was amazing. They played it right as the sun was setting over the mountains. That is most memorable moment at a Who concert, and there have been alot of them.
Thanks for uploading, at first. The gig at Locarno, Switzerland, was excellent - I didn´t attend it but I watched it on "Towser TV" at Pete Townshends homepage. Now there is running a gig at Bristol, currently. What shall I say - great performance of one of my favourite Who tracks! Long live Rock!
I think he intentionally altered the lyrics, to make it a little more fitting. The festival they were playing at was called "Under the Moon and Stars".
The Who at their finest! Letting go and doing whatever, whenever in the moment :)))

what are you talking about?

You can cover up your guts, but when you cover up your nuts, you're admitting that there must be something wrong.

oh
well he's only Pete Townshend
I think he has the right to change it up a little
ManiacDrummer1212 3 years ago
fair enough, but it's my favorite line in a favorite song, so it got my goat.
funkspiel 3 years ago
yes, I understand
it's my favorite too

Pete actually looks healthy, and it looks like he's lost weight, The Who are great, still just as great as their early years, just expensive to see.

but he's actually one of the best out there, he's a good bass player just not as good as John Entwistle, but then again, nobody was or is.

always feel ambivalent seeing these current versions; glad to hear them but "naked eye" in toronto in 82 was a supremely visceral experience.

oopsies he missed "you cover up you guts..". Maybe he pulled a Bob Dylan and purposely changed the lyrics cuz he added a new bit there.

Pete blew the lyrics to his verse. Still great, though. This is one of their very best songs.
