  • lol your amarican ha

  • sad

  • I use a mat that you'd find in some kindergarten or karate place, but it works great! It follows this logic. Thanks!

  • I know like my real drums soo much more, if thats even possible!!

  • just get rubber tipped sticks. they have better rebound too

  • Your comment was too late in the video and I indeed cut my thumb off.

  • Thumbs up if you cut your thumb off before he warned you not to cut your thumb off.

  • What the fuck was that @ 1:07 by the door?

    ALIENNNSSS!

  • @Yourthefishead321 a car-.-

  • Or use marimba mallets?

  • Wow, whish i had that chair! Great tutorial!

  • u look like billy mays and sound like him lol

    no offence!!

  • or get a real marshmello and shove it in the drum stick

  • there is no home depot for 50 miles where i live

  • works perfectly did it just 2day

  • God damn, so simple yet as affective! I could be drumming on my brothers forhead and not make a sound. Bravo!!

  • he says "scissors" really freaking fast

  • clever

  • where did u get dat at

  • i ended up using a solid black gotton scarf i laying around that i never use. cut about 6-7 inches of that and wrapped it around the sticks and used masking tape. works just as well and saved about 9 bucks and a trip to home depot :D

  • Glad I saw this last night... I was finally getting around to doing something about drum pad noise, and didn't know what I was going to do. A little double-sided foam tape and electrical tape later - which I already had lying around - problem fixed for free. Good idea.

  • GOML

  • Lol I have the same chair as you, except... IT SPINS :]

  • WTF I have the same chair too...wierd....

  • Likewise.

  • oh em gee, you have the same chair as me, but your's has a lighter color than mine. AWKWARD!

  • LOL

  • ahah pretty good way for 2 things, reduce pad noice, and a good workout ;)

  • wow nice chair

  • i found another way, just put a pencilgrip on the end of a drumstick and you can still hit fast

  • or go the whole 9 yards and buy guitar hero where you dont have this problem ?

  • guitar hero drums suck

  • while i agree that it's QUITE a bit reduced in the way of sound.... with them dulled down THAT much, i wonder how that will affect the speed drumming of harder faster songs on a difficulty settings say.... harder than medium.

  • Hey maybe you'll make your EL sets last longer instead of using gum rubber.

Just tested this and it's awesome. My EL still picks up double hits, though I had to improvise. I was short on cash (real short) so I used thinner (width-wise, not size) stripping so I had to do it 3 times per drum stick to cover as much as of the stick head as with his.

  • I will tell you that on EL kits, anything thicker than 1/4" will start to affect your hit registry (LOL FPS term). I've heard from ScoreHero that using 1/4" gum rubber made them drop notes, but once they toned down to 3/16" or even 1/8", there's still good rebound and silencing effect with increase in sensitivity on ELs.

I've tried various thicknesses (one wrap, 2 wraps, etc) and they still drop notes equally bad.

  • I friggin love YOUtube. Good Job Brauks.

  • will it still work if i use IONs?

  • i dont think you would want too, ions are very good pads, i got them the day they came out, if you do this drum stick mod, when you hit the pads the sticks will go like 100 feet over your head

  • ions suck, the pads are very soft and loose.

  • Nice, and very creative.

I still have the rockband drum kit as well and I plan on modding my sticks now.

    Thanks for the great vid.

  • Wow... all these people with modding their drums and this has to be the simplest best solution.

  • im just gonna stick a marshmallow on my drum stix

  • marshmallow xD

  • haha niceeeeee

  • LOL XD HAHAHA

  • @titoman767 that did'nt sound right

  • @titoman767 im with you man. id just stick some real marashmallows on then id pour chocolate syrup all over them and put sprinkles and a cherry on top. you could spray whipped cream all over the pads to help you focus your aim too.

  • @bruthaflo Haha that'd be friggin' awesome! I would probably fail the song and if people ask why I'll say I was eating.

  • And they bounce off, so it's easier to hit it multiple times.

  • I have that chair.

  • same here

  • btw i meant the cotton foams of my sofa

  • good one.....ill try my my sofa and roll it on the sticks

  • u can do the same thing (kind of) with a rubber band

  • id still do this also though its a great idea

  • finally

people usally cover the drums but u need to cover that one that starts the noise

i got a somewhat better technique ill make a video soon.

  • wow dude, thats very innovative....not to many people would think of something like that... i gotta try that now!

  • they look like timpani sticks

  • Not so tight that it's loose

  • why dont you go to the store and buy some marshmellows and stick them on the drumsticks

  • LLOOL. Cause I think if you ever want to take it off, your drumstick will be stick.

And no one likes a sticky stick.

  • @jomomwashere

Thats why he had the adhesive side out

  • exactly and you can eat them right after

  • Acutally. Thankyou for posting. Helped alot.

  • I saw something like this at Best Buy, i guess rock band heard about this and wanted to get on the cash.

Its just little rubber tips you can slip on the tips of you stick, seemed shaky.

I think this a great stick mod.

  • ive seen something like that at gamestop which i would prefer because (instant gradification) plus you wont need to wait in the mail for it but either way it still works

  • dude you turned down the Music!

  • what about rebound?

  • Wait.YousaidDON'Tcutmythumboff?Oops,IthinkImessedupthatpartoftheinstructions.

    Great.NowIhavenothingtohitthespacebarwith.

    Thanksalot.

  • What the fuck?

  • It's sarcasm, lol. Live a little. Too bad he spaced a few times :(

  • OHHHH, I get it! He couldn't space without a thumb, It all makes sense now.

  • You obviously aren't playing on expert, so my question is this. By loosely securing the weather stripping on, how well do they stay on when the sticks really take a beating? For example, will they fly off halfway through songs like Everlong or Run to the Hills?

  • you could just put some masking tape from the tip all along the stick if u were afraid of it flying off ya know.

  • goddamn, go get a set of real mallets from a music store if you're going to go that far anyway...

  • Sure, but some people have weather strip lying around. It's really inexpensive and useful stuff.

  • @McGuinty1

Taking 30 seconds to tape some foam is a lot of work to you, huh?

  • wow u nerd

  • "ryangameboy"

    lolwat

  • Cool man! THX!!!

  • WAR PIGS!

  • Thanks man. I shouls have looked here first. Just bought the pads for RB. I'll try it for GH

  • whats up with your tv? half of it is just white...

  • hes on the 360 when you press the guide button a little white screen pops up on the side and shit

  • its called an xbox botton screen n00b

  • whats even better: get the rockband drum pad silencers( you can get them online or at gamestop for 15$) and just that alone increases sensitivity and decreases noise. but for extra sensitivity and even less noise put socks over the pads and it works perfect, no problems whatsoever . and it sounds pretty cool

  • wow dude. we have the same exact chairs...im sitting on it right now lol

  • dude! me too!!! lmao

  • lmao =P

  • lol i was about to post that but i looked and you just did. kinda freaked me out :P

  • where i can get the gum rubber?

  • w0w thats pretty smart and dumb lol

  • i tried that, it gave good rebound and was quiet

  • thats actually so smart =D

  • How did you get War Pigs on Rock Band? It's one of my favorite songs.

  • It was released over a year ago as DLC for the PS3 and 360.

  • hmm i might try that

  • thats smart insted of fixing the drum he fixed the drum sticks

  • hey does anybody know whats rma??????

  • kiddfLAkO14 is plain stupid

  • you have the same dining room chair as me. FUCK YEAH

  • imma gonna do dat.

  • Idk About everyone else that plays rock band. but i play alot harder than that. the stuff would just fly right off i think.

  • I actually use it, and it stays put. it wont fly off, unless you are slamming your drums at full force, which I know you're not that stupid to do.

  • whats that white and black stuff ? And where do you buy it

    -thanks-

  • are you deaf or just plain stupid?

listen to the first few seconds, expecially at 0:11

  • he is just plain stupid

  • LMAO your so stupid... look at 0:11 to 0:30

    wow.. listen a bit..

  • I prefer Harmonix silencers, as shown on my channel. When I tried this mod, the sound dampening wasn't as much as it was on the video. The Harmonix silencers won't wear out like these, too.

  • the only thing Harmonix does is make people buy more shit from them. "ohh your drums are too loud? well we can sell you this." "drums arent sensitive enough?, we can sell you this"

its like they created problems just to get more money

  • Does that change the fact that they work better, in my opinion? No. Activision is more of a money-grubber than Harmonix is. Do you realize that for months, you could RMA _any_ part of your Rock Band kit, with or without a warranty or receipt?

  • no i am just saying that they are smart for doing that. i dont see Neversoft coming out with aftermarket drum parts. but Harmonix does. II was being sarcastic because yes they sell great things. but they are sometimes cocky about it.

  • It's economics. If you play to FC, then you'll want to spend the extra money, or even buy the more expensive ION set. But if you just play for fun on medium, say, sensitivity won't be an issue, and a $60 set with some flaws will be completely acceptable.

  • i had a version of this where i taped a sock ontro the end of the stick

  • haha I did the exact same thing

  • best mod ever, by the way!!

  • wat song was playing

  • Warpigs

  • omg, right after watching this i grabbed 15 bucks and ran to home deepot with out, telling my parents. It worked like a fucking charm!

  • is that foam that you are putting in your drums sticks?

  • gum rubber

  • holeson ur an idiot i never thught of changing the sticks i only thought of the pads but this makes way more sense thanx dude

  • Calm down, I didn't like this mod either - but it still was better than stock.

  • the only reason your saying it's gay is because it's a good idea stupid....

  • Good luck playing "Run to the Hills" on expert with those.

  • lmfao i love how EVERYONE gets into an intense level of focus when theyre playing rockband 2:29

  • THANK YOU!!

  • KOOL

  • Thats a good idea, but does it play good, doesnt it make the sticks to heavy?

  • Makes me wonder where he got the song 'War Pigs' on Rock Band.

  • DLC

  • Ok, thnx.

  • Did you really call this a hack? Great idea though.

  • lol why don't you just buy some concert band mallets... essentially the same thing, just better made.

  • mallets are HARD. They look the same, but they aren't squishy, they are like playing with a big rock on the end of your stick. It's not even close to the same.

  • there are a ton of different types of mallets... ones made for cymbals that are super squishy and fuzzy, to ones that are made for tympani which are a harder felt.. you can also buy sticks with rubber ends on them made for practicing on hard surfaces without alot of noise...

  • Wow that's an awesome mod man!

  • wow nice..

  • whats the name of that stuff??

  • Closed Cell Weather Stripping

  • does it bounce or watever get rebound?

  • thanx man i will definetly try it

  • This is a simple mod and it actually works, i used some tape and jus some foam padding, its the easiest way of reducing noise, and dependin on what you use the sticks still bounce well.

  • Cool, thanks for the mod info. I'm going to try it. I'd rather do than then mess w/ covering all my drum heads.

  • what song is that

  • War Pigs by Black Sabbath.

  • i know a better mod

  • try bubble wrap

  • Lol it's like a drumstick turnin into a mallet!

  • I would think this would be a great thing to add WITH a sock/coin/or mouse pad mod!

    Thanks for posting

  • lol

  • Thanks so much for posting this. It'll probably save my bubbly red pad from bursting.

  • well hell just put a god damb marshmallow on the end!/?

  • pad modding is better. this will just mess up registering the hits and break your combo. i've tried it and it sucked......big time. but ofc i didnt think so at first

  • you are a genius....5/5

  • That is what i have been thinking of for so long, modding your drumsticks!

  • bloody hell mate i must admit ive tryed soo many different mods and this one has been the best!!! its awesome!!

btw i have that chair :P:P:P

  • I had that chair, but it broke. :( It was my favorite,

  • haha buy it today thats funny

  • wow thats a really good idea! nice

  • FREEKING awesome mod lol 5/5

I also did the same thing with some gym roll out mat it was soft like these but i lost them i will remake them though lol

  • omg he so inteligent every one dosent have this idea

  • I did that before and yeah it did quiet it, but it cracked my pads faster casuse of the xtra weight. im not going against you but good video too 5*

  • it shouldn't crack your pads quicker because the marshmallow mod makes the impact softer but just as deep you must be hitting really hard

  • when u play with modded sticks do u hit the same % of notes with non modded sticks?

  • epic win.

  • duuuuuuuude...thats ingenious......

  • u can buy premade ones of those but i cant remember what theyre called

  • nice.

im definitely gonna try it thanks for all the help man
