He created a new layer above the main video to create the overlay, added "black and white" and made the transparency on the new layer to approximately 50%. After fading the overlay in and out, it created that effect.
@qpstrafe OMG thank you so much for that explanation. I've been trying to do this in vegas using masks and it just wouldn't work. Then I read your comment and BAM!!! I can now get on with my project!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Its not that hard you just have to have the two video streams on each other and have one of them a little transparent. If you want it to be gray like the one in the vid, just add the black and white effect to the other video stream.
At around 15 seconds you have a smaller video enter and move around the screen while the main video keeps playing. How do you do that ? I'm trying to get the hang of Vegas Move Studio 9 but I'm not having much joy.
And thanks for posting the video, it's one way of getting to grips with the effects and seeing what they can actually do.
put a video on the 1st video timeline then in the 2nd video timeline put the other movie go to the 1st one and go to pan/crop and make smaller the video and move the litle bar in the pan/crop timeline and drag the video whenever you want
I wanted to ask me whether Sony Vegas 8 Platinum Edition, the "masking" function contains. Although I have already Sony Vegas 9 Platinum Edition, but this version is "masking" is not available. I hope they can help me, because I do not know to whom I might otherwise apply. Thank you very much!
What kind of lame-ass comment is that? Sony sells Movie Studio, so there are people *buying* it. It's a lot cheaper than Pro.
For the record, I also have Vegas Pro 8 (I *bought* it) as well as Final Cut Studio (also *bought* it). While Vegas is a fabulous application at a good price, I prefer Final Cut Studio, in part for Motion as well as LiveType. But I don't know if you can use Final Cut Studio, so perhaps you wouldn't know about that. If you can't, sucks to be you, I guess. LOL.
I'm not positive, but I think he totally overlapped the clips of the two scenes in the video timeline, so the "incoming" scene played at the same time as the first scene.
I have SVMS 8 Platinum too, and I don't know a lot about it. Like I know you can speed up or slow down videos on like every program, but i cant find it:P do you know where it is?
The film the music is for is actually a thriller/horror movie about an intelligent orangutan (what bizarre movie—starred Terrence Stamp and Elizabeth Shue) and the music actually fit the film quite well!
I don't really know, henrixxx26. I just started using Vegas. I would recommend that you go to the Vegas forums on the Sony site and ask your question there.
I do know that Vegas does not seem to yet enjoy as much third-party support (at least this is what I've been told) as other editors, like Adobe Premiere and Final Cut. But I'm sure there must be a few free plug-ins out there.
That effect is done with adding a second video track, and choosing some effect (blending effect) I think. You definitely can use this in Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8, since that's what I've got. (I've got the Platinum version, but I doubt that makes a difference.) I'm not an expert in Vegas (I'm mostly a Mac person) but there are a lot of Vegas fans out there who can help you more.
That's done by adding a new video track, and then changing the video's size and using keyframes to make it move around. (Sorry I didn't reply to your question sooner.)
Yeah, it's pretty good. I think you should try out Adobe Premiere Elements too, though. (I have a some sample videos made with it as well.) I like Premiere Elements because it has more video tracks (which means more special effects) and it's easier to learn. But Sony Vegas is *VERY* stable and also pretty awesome.
Well, Premeire Pro is made to be better. Premiere Pro is a lot more expensive, meant for higher level filmmakers, while elements is meant for amateurs or those just getting in to filmmaking. Same maker, completely different filmmaking levels.
LOL! Yeah, I have a lot of Robin Hood footage on my hard drive right now (and I'm hooked on the show) so I guess it seemed natural to use RH clips with these videos!
Look into getting a used older version of it on eBay. I think Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6 (not Platinum version) shouldn't cost too much at all, and will have many of the features that this version has.
LOL! It's actually film music from an '80s suspense film with Elizabeth Shue and Terrence Stamp, called "Link" (about an intelligent orangutan, if you believe it). The music is by composer Jerry Goldsmith (of "Star Trek" and "Alien" and countless other films) and since "Link" is a rare score, I thought that some Goldsmith fans might enjoy hearing it!
