When you subscribe to situational ethics the righteousness of everything, from boiling babies to poisoning children with mercury to cluster-bombing clinics to irradiating tumors and commuters, is relative. The worms, by now, have finished with Carl Sagan as he's up to his pits in arms—face-down in a piny box...
Ana, I'm such a big supporter of LiveAction, I've always been pro-life and I follow this cause wholeheartedly. People like you and others fighting for the lives of unborn children are inspiring, which is why I want to do my part in MY community to help open people's eyes and end abortion. The only thing is that I live in a very liberal area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and organizations like this one are hard to find. Do you know of any pro-life organizations here? Thanks :)
@mcrluvr222 There are a variety of different pro-life groups in Ontario Canada. I would do an online search and find who is close to you and connect with them and find which one you fit best with and offer to help them.
Hey, Ana, I have a question: if abortion was once again made illegal, what would Live Action do? Is life always about fighting some enemy? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
That's a good question. Is life always about fighting some enemy? I think right now the enemy of life is a culture that fails to recognize it. This is the enemy I fight. If abortion was made illegal, Live Action would continue to educate on the culture of life. If abortion was not the epidemic it is today, I might fight other injustices that I do now such as child trafficking and lack of quality education for children without resources. There will always be work to do, unfortunately.
@anabandana87, thanks for sharing. So am I right that you see life as this war between good and evil? Do you think there could possibly be other metaphors for life? If it's not fighting abortion, it's fighting something; the need to fight is always there. Could perhaps there be other ways to advance life without "fighting"?
@anabandana87, I believe the pro-life movement would better serve life rather than focusing on going after Planned Parenthood, encouraging responsible sexuality and good parental skills. I don't know about u, but I feel so much better about my life after I gave up fighting things: I don't always have to look over my shoulder, but maybe there is a time for fighting. Is the time all the time, that is the question? Our founding fathers fought for life, but after they won, they stopped fighting.
