I don't agree with The comment below. This not iDANGEROUS. YOGA IS BEST FOR LEARNING BREATHING. She is teaching tonight up throat muscles. Plus other in berating between lines.
You're all cissies. That's dangerous only if you are cold and stiff. She did not say one should do that in such a condition. Nobody who is able to use his/her brain would do that!
And that, my dear, is up to you and your self responsibility.
If you would burn yourself with hot coffee, would you sue the person who made it?
These tips are true... just not really to this extreme. Moving your neck around is great for relaxation, but obviously having such violent thrusts like she's demonstrating is bad :O and the breathing is pointless. I usually just slowly move my neck side to side a few times, then up and down and it stretches the muscles and relaxes them.
you should do the neck movements slowly about ten times before trying it with the breathing thing or it may damage your neck. and do it much slower ;]
michael jackson had very thin vocal chords. its just about getting your voice to the best it can be, if someone has a bad singing voice its not because the were born with it, they just dont develop it. your voice is just developing, i used to feel that way too but after alot of practise and work it resonates and sounds nice. just have to work on it just liek an instrument. no matter the instrument a professional makes it sound beautiful, of course you should continue.
Bleh, you can't massage your vocal cords. It's physically impossible. If you were really massaging the vocal cords, you'd be coughing uncontrollably because coughing is a reflex vocal cords use to protect themselves. Maybe this helps the muscles in the throat, but it can't massage the vocal cords.
She's doing it wrong...this yperventilating way will make you pass out. What you're supposed to do is take in one long breath from the belly and the ribs expanded out- no shoulders or neck moving up- strictly diaphragm! And when your lungs are filled and feel about to burst, you let it out in a controlled "hiss" This helps you control your breath.
she sounds like a train.

Great exercise to correct high chest breathing, but do them much more slowly.

Totally agree with you jaaaaaaaayynnee. This very dangerous.
I use Arnica Oil and gently massage the neck with tips of my fingers. Also a steamy towel wrapped around the neck works wonders :-)

Dangerous moves on the neck! Nobody should do these at all!!!
Movements should be controlled and slow!
