  • Lucy & Pat DiMauro - I am still waiting for full-and-complete-disclosure under the Laws of the Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts Request Numbers 1176234-000 (Pat DiMauro, Senior) and 1177597-000 (L.A. DiMauro). Wednesday, February 22, 2012 (C.E.), 4:47 AM (Earth-Eastern Standard Time)

  • "there will be another song for me, & I will sing it, There will be another dream for me someone will bring it". What lyrics, it gives me hope that one day I will find some one to love after many years of looking. Thank your for the song Donna.

  • I was about 15 yeas old when i first heard Donna Summer for the first time. I instantly fell in love with her music. Especially that i grew in the disco era. I used to do the hustle, and became when good at it. I couldnt wait to hit the club scene. I miss those good ol days!!!!

  • When I was ten years old, my parents had this very same statue on the mantle of our apartment. Exactly. And, one day, I grabbed it, and I was using it as a microphone. I was singing, “MacArthur Park”, and I got to the part about, “I’ll never have that recipe again,” and it slipped out of my hand and it broke. My parents looked at me like I smashed the ten commandments. To this day, they bring it up. It was the single most damaging experience in my life, aside from seeing my father naked.

  • Jurassic Park is frightening in the dark, all the dinosaurs are running wild :)

  • Donna was nominated, but didn't win the best pop vocal Grammy for this. She was robbed.

  • @NicholasSims I totally agree

  • love this, i rember the memories, and the fun I had back then! Agh wish I could have it all back again!

  • Richard Harris on Mel's Rockpile anyone??

  • I'd never heard that version before. Wasn't anticipating such an abrupt ending.

  • ive done a cheeky bootleg of this - its on my youtube channel... x

  • the cake is a lie

  • Magnificent...and there was only one reason I owned the "Love To Love You" album. The ladies from back then know what I'm talking about.

  • Donna sei meravigliosa ! grazie di cuore e a presto ! friendship Raymond !!!

  • Fresh Prince.

  • Love and heartbreaks' greatest metaphore!

  • Even though I like this song, I like the Weird Al parody, Jurassic Park, better.

  • @YankeePat94 He was parodying the original song

  • So good... as much as the spanish version called PALABRA DE MUJER performed by Mónica Naranjo :))

  • I love how the top comment is totally illiterate...what is the world coming to?

  • I love this one much better than the original one that came out around 10+ years earlier back in the late 60s (ie 1967or 68). :)

  • Gun's n Roses gave a nod to this song in their November Rain...someone left the cake out in the rain in that song too...

  • i wanna go to that park with some cake on a rainy day

  • Donna Summer, timeless sensation and beautiful voice.

Saw her concert in Paris in 1977.

  • What a great song, I adore this

  • He was so cool and manly. I loved him in Camelot.

  • Thanks, I have this, this isthe 12" vinyl version, kudos, many thanks for memory lane!

  • Dumbledore's version is better

  • @painlessissuicide Dumbledore? Are you the same guy who wrote you didn't know Gene Hackman sang this? lol

  • @imjunipernow the late great Richard Harrris

  • We are all racist. Black, White, Japs, Chincs, etc. We are all drawn to our own kind. We can all get along but it takes work and just not taking every comment so seriously. We will never be color blind. But we can still get along in a livable situation.

  • I did this just last night! I left the whole damn thing in the rain SOOOOOOOOOO embarassed! im such A jerk!!!! IT Was MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! OHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AHHHHHHHHHHahahahaha

  • Boy!, I was lucky enough to be dancing this and most of Miss Summer songs in Discos in Acapulco in the late 70´s & early 80´s, wasn´t I a really lucky one!

  • @juanitoelchico Hell I'm lucky (let alone blessed) to be alive back then to enjoy this stuff myself. Love it , WOOOOOOOO! :D

  • Just listen to the damn record and quit bitchin about our four last lame ass presidents.

  • wu tang sampled this....

  • TOO BAD FOR YOU, SAYING HE IS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA, BECAUSE OF COURSE EVERYTHING STARTED WITH HIM. WAKE UP, RACISM RULES IN AMERIKKK.

  • @oj9561 Most people who hate him won't admit that they hate the fact that a man who has brown skin is president. They don't care that GW Bush did a great deal to damage this country. They are blind to the truth. They won't listen to what anyone says.

  • @oj9561 Seriously? AmeriKKK? And yet Obama was elected president. And yet the front runner in the Republican campaign in Herman Cain. But of course someone's criticism of Obama must be because they're racist. Not because of anything he has or hasn't done in office, or some disagreement in policy. That would just be silly.

  • GOTTA GET RID OF THE THE ADS OF THE WORST PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY THE " OBAMAS ' ON THIS PAGE WHAT A LOSER HE IS

  • DONNA SUMMER dislikes gay people. End of discussion.

  • @ahfaxthis well whats funny about that, is that most gay men like her music, LOL! I don't care if she hates gay people, I still like her music, AND I AM GAY!

  • In 0:12, she resembles a young Rick James. Scary! Hahaha.

  • @polloboyyo Holy shit, that made my day. I'll be your best friend.

  • 1:40 chinga tu madre pinche vieja negra

  • excelente balada me hyace revivir , ja,uja,

  • Reminds me of my Lost Love...

  • It does not matter that she hates Gay people, she to will be Judged by God him self, he sees all.

  • Yet another song about the dangers of pastry and percipitation

  • @baxtersave96 ...lol.

  • @baxtersave96 haha !! good stuff. :)

  • @baxtersave96 The word is precipitation, moron. You fail at your attempt at being witty, asshole. Fuck you.

  • @seikogoldwatch2009 Relax. He made a spelling mistake you uptight fuck. That comment made me laugh and it is the comment with the most thumbs up. So get over yourself.

  • @seikogoldwatch2009 Wassup with you, Mr. Bitter? Momma cut the water off?

  • @seikogoldwatch2009 lol! Thank-you for your post. Such anger over a misspelled word. People need to get a life. LOLLLL!!!

  • Thank you God for music, which speaks to us all! I am so blessed to have had the chance to be at the disco's as the dj would spin this song and although there was massive hatred going on in the world,we would all party our asses off. Shout out to everyone from the 70's who just loved life.

  • love this song

    thanks for posting...

  • yes we cook a relationship!! we break eggs, we break nerves put some spice and suddenly storms are coming! our hearts start to rain! and all our cookies are gone vasted!

    ah l 'amour!

  • @BJBoi18 - Wow, aren't you an intelligent, articulate and respectful human being. Your parents must be so proud of you.

  • Nice job jazzing it up to fit into the disco scene and Donna has great vocals but I still prefer the original with Richard Harris.

  • I bought KISS CREATURES OF THE NIGHT the day it came out on LP, opened it up, put it on my record player .......And THIS song started playing. I was like HUH? so i put the needle to teh 2md song & it was still Donna summer, 3rd,4th,5th,flip the album, donna summer .......Looked at the label.......it said KISS CREATURES OF THE NIGHT & listed the KISS songs. so I returned it,only to get another that was the same way.took it back & finally got one that was KISS.

  • Instead of saying, "I'll never find that recipe again," who can picture Weird Al singing to that tune, "My cholesterol is off the charts again!"

  • Message of the song is simple, you can never go home again, & if you do, it will never be the same.

  • For some reason I always picture a T-rex with a top hat and a cane dancing to this song.

  • I was at McArthur Park the month tis song came out.

  • Comment removed

  • i've loved this song forever!! and next month i'm going to LA for the first time, i'm going to MacArthur Park and i'm going to sit there and listen to this song!! it's going to be a dream come true!

  • @seanryan24 lol except for the LA part hahahaha it sucks here!

  • Next friday Open House Radio presents a tribute To Vince Montana Jr

dj alex gutierrez miami dot com vv

  • The cake is her relationship with her boyfriend which she nurtured and worked hard to create. She really cherished it. The boyfriend for some reason or another decides to end the relationship in a very callous and uncaring way. Hence the part, "...someone left the cake out in the rain." She is so hurt by this that she is despondent and doesn't see how she can ever have something special like that again. Hence the words, "...it took so long to bake it and I'll never have that recipe again..."

  • @squidman22 i always thought it was about cocaine

  • @squidman22 that's all very interesting, but donna summers didn't write this song.it was written by someone ELSE.donna summers is a careerist & i doubt if she cares that much for genuine relationships with the opposite sex.

  • @squidman22 You know she didn't write the song, right? This is just a cover.

  • @squidman22 Makes sense...considering the original came from the 60's.

  • @squidman22 Awww,thank u for explaining that,so sad :( sniff sniff *cries* I wish I had a cake for a bf *folds arms n' pouts*

  • @squidman22 And all this time I thought she was upset over a Duncan Hines double layer with chocolate frosting. XD

  • @squidman22 thanks I have waited over 30 years for someone to exolain it to me haha

  • Fave song .love it

  • Que bons tempos

  • This is QUALITY - Juices flow hella over - Memories yank twitches and tears - Beat assassinates senses. Must be Donna Summer. if - IF - I had even one critical point, it would be the: screeching "AH HAA AA" (at 1:48 initially & later). For me, that is the only contrived and unnecessary distraction from a Donna Seduction - We applaud your posting of this. Thanks catteryk

  • @Batshitcool You are so right, that AH HAAAA kills this song for me. I wish there was a mix where it wasn't in there. Otherwise I'd like the song. :)

  • the best singer.!!

  • Richard Harris does this better. Enough said. Look up Song facts and you will find more on this song.

  • @SuperLouisianaLady Richard Harris!!! Pah! Awful voice and sick of hearing it!!

I can't believe people think he can. It's like the emperors new clothes. Yuk!!

  • @MG180Man ,

Or when William-(James T Kirk)-Shatner did that god-awful version of,what was it,"If" ? I can't recall which song he fucked up so I may have got it wrong. But I know what you mean about Richard Harris & his dire attempt at this song,he just ruined it!

  • i had to rollar skate to thsi song and this extended version woudl have caused my skates to buckle up. so NO THANKS ! BLAH ~

  • song intro confuses me

  • alright!! the macarther park extended MONO version, previously availiable only with the purchase of an RCA VICTOR 1939 selecto gramaphone 78rpm record player.!!

    who needs stereo!

    23 skidoo!

    oh you kid!!

  • ONE OF HER FEW EARLY SONGS THAT I NEVER GOT A HARD ON FROM.

  • youtube -> yves paquet - mcarthur park

  • @zukudee The cake melting in the rain are her tears falling for the relationship she let slip away. She will never get it back. She'll never have that recipe again... for a great love she let go. "After all the loves of my life you will still be the one."

  • FINALLY,I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.....THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VERSION,IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN EDITED!

  • the cake represents a relationship. bascially she put all the work into it only to have it ruined by neglect.

  • i don't get what this song is about it can't be about cake.

  • @zukudee All the cake stuff is a giant metaphor. It's about some kind of relationship problems I think

  • @zukudee lmao

  • All I know is some one left their cake out in the rain.

  • Could someone explain me

why every time i hear this song

    i have chills ?

  • @StarRider1250 - I know Richard Harris did this in 1968 or so, and if you put in "SCTV - Mel's Rockpile" you can see how they spoofed his version - it is hysterical. There were huge instrumental breaks in his version and SCTV sort of "ran with that" on their spoof.

  • Très belle chanson, tout simplement magnifique.

  • Not the Original version, but Donna made it a Classic of her own. Once must agree it is a Beautiful Arrangement and she still sings it just as Beautifully as ever. I'm sure the writer must of been pleased with version as she did it well. Royalties aside she did him proud. Jus ' Saying..

  • naalala ko ng first timer ako sa japan sayaw namin ito hahahha !!!nakaka miss mag show

  • Love,Love, Love, this song. remember dancing to this at Rumors in Island Park LI. NY

  • MANILA and Delta brought me here! GO HEATHERS!

  • @Delana4ever What has Delta got to do with it ?

Manila killed this song , best lip-sync I ve ever seen . SHe'll never have that recipe again

  • stupid fuckin dumb friign idots, this is not about a cake gettin wet, you illiterate friigin dumb mo friggin skanks, don't any of you know how to 'abstract?' ??

  • i feel so bad because i heard the lyrics and i said i know damn well this woman is not singing about a damn cake that she made and it got wet. i mean i love cake but damn!

  • Reminds me of my youthful years growing up in LA, around MacArthur Park. Brings back so much memories.

  • I love danceing to this song

  • great memories !!!

  • Did anyone else realize the cake was her relationship with some guy that ruined it but "leaving it out in the rain"?

  • @littlemissperfect16 WEEEEELLLL actually this wasn't written by her. So no, in fact it wasn't.

  • did they ever find out who the asshole was that left the fuckin cake out in the rain?

  • @mysticalHeir

Ha ha, wicked sense of humour :) Love it!

  • I know I know you're thinking "Oh man another song about pastry products and percipitation" but of all the songs that speak of the dangers of desserts and inclement weather this one is the best.

  • the most beautiful woman and the most beautiful voice nature put on this earth

  • I bet GLADoS left the cake out in the rain...

if anyone gets that reference, can we be best friends?

  • @polloboyyo The cake is a lie!

  • NADA COMO RECORDAR MIS MEJORES TIEMPOS DE MIVIDA CUANDO TU ESTABAS A MI LADO BAILANDO SIEMPRE AL ESCUCHAR ESTE TEMA TE VOY A RECORDAR CON GRAN APRECIO

  • 1:19 is funny

  • Look, people, if someone can bluff with their muffin and not be criticized then someone can leave the GD cake in the rain.

  • Horrible sound on this. To bad too, I like this song.

  • 8 people left their cake out in the rain

  • George Bush and Obama left the cake in the rain!

  • Some music producer had a weird sense of humor on this one.

  • Comment removed

  • live & let live, donna was the best disco singer of all time! & she was & is as sexy as ever!.. so fuck the cake & the drag shit!, i agree she should of never covered this song tho.

  • Richard Harris did not write this song, he performed the original version of it. The song was written by songwriting legend Jimmy Webb.

  • Disco didn't make this song any better, just more tolerable! I don't think I can take it!

  • today after more than 25 years year I listen again to this song in its long version again and God it brings back memories...life is beautiful!

  • richard harrise wrote this song too in the 60's

  • @veryshywoman no, the writers name is Jimmy Webb...Richard Harris sung it in the 60's...

  • Classic track. I'm not sure this song had an official 'long' or 12" version. The album version (part of the MacArthur Park Suite) was about 8:25. The single version was right at 4:00. I think the mix featured here was featured on a promotional single release.

  • I love Donna Summer, but that picture at 0:50, I thought that was a Rupaul's Drag Race Contestant lol

  • @DanceinQueens, Cake.. left out out in the rain..?? how about the yellow cotton dress??LOL!

  • @s3enu - Don't forget the "Strip-ed pair of pants".

  • WHO DISLIKED THUIS SONG?!!

  • There ain`t nothing better than ol scool.

  • C'mon dude seriously don't blame it on someone else when your favorite dessert is subjected to the elements. Yeah I know it sucks but ya know what? If you liked it so much why didn't you bring it in?. People really got to start being more responsible with there baked goods.
