The USSR did not declare war against Japan until 8 August 1945. The USSR was beaten twice by the Japanese in the 1930's and wanted nothing to do with them until after Hitler was defeated. The Americans and British (mostly Aussies, Indians and Ghurkas) defeated the Japanese; the USSR came in only to expand their Soviet empire.
After WWII when the US occupied Japan, the US made sure the Japanese have no army by abolishing it entirely but came back to become an economic superpower and even that failed.
ok @artimeis have you ever heard of an army telling the enemy "hey were going to attack u here and then, okay see you around" when u say "cowards attacking without warning u mean a suprise attack how else could a country that had a tenth of the rate of military expansion get a small advantage Im not saying they should have attacked us or anything but u just make it sound stupid. And if Japan had actually focused all the troops that were in the phillipines and indonesia on china, they wouldve won
Regarding the kamikazee tactics, Japanese soldiers were stored with overwhelming pride for their country and empire. If a mission had failed, it would have brought deep shame for most in the beginning. Understanding the mental stress, a kamikazee raid was seen by the Japanese as a way to die with dignity- dying while fighting for the homeland. It didn't matter whether it was strategic or tactic or what have you.
The attck on Pearl Harbor was actualy not intended as a surprise attack. The declaration was delayed from tokyo to washington so the attack was commited before the U.S gov recieved news of war. Alot of pilots were actually upset to attack a "sleeping enemy" which made them feel dishonorable.
You are not saying all. You say that Japan took the action first and forced USA to join the war. But american previous policy and oil embargo forced Japan to attack. They has no other alternative except leaving China which was unacceptably of course.
ROOT CAUSE of emergence of IMPERIAL JAPANESE EMPIRE was 1854 "PERRY INCIDENT" by US President Millard Filmore and Greedy US Businessmen who wanted to use US Military Might to force Japan to "OPEN UP" to Trade.
All wars from 1854 through 1945 are USA cause and fault. Think about it.
TOKUGAWA ERA lasted from 1600 to 1854, 254 years of ISLOATIONISM. Japan bothered NOBODY, and wanted to keep it that way.
USA refuses to hear of it, and forces Japan to emerge as IMPERIAL ASIAN SUPERPOWER!!

Actually, it was the USA who forced an oil embargo on Japan lifeline, forcing her into action. Roosevelt also violated the U.S. Neutrality Act by sending weapons to China to shoot down Japanese airplanes. In the declaration of war, Roosevelt even took to outright lying to the American people by saying, "we were a peace with that nation (Japan)." Shooting down Japanese aircraft and oil embargoes are acts of war, not peace.
I'm sorry, funfront, but Japan was not "overconfident." I'm taking a college level class on Japan from 1868 to 1941 and up until 1941, the overwhelming opinion among the decision makers in Japan was that not only was war with the United States avoidable, but that it would be better for Japan to avoid war with the United States at all costs. Without interpretation facts are useless.
I hate it when people try to sound/look smart, and yet they can't type the full word "you" despite their obvious efforts for correct punctuation and capitalization. It just makes *you* look less intelligent than you would have.
I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the guy who thinks a russian running into another plane is braver then a japanese using himself as a missiles to destroy something a bit bigger like a battleship or cruiser, whitch he thinks is also stupid. Now ur right they brought that to themselves, I'm aware of their history and the reason was b/c they mistreated the chinese which was part of the plan. So the english an USA embargo, right?
continue.... As you can see that was the smartest choice they could of made, b/c not only it disable the US navy, but it gave them hope that the stupid americans might consider on terms to not go to war, and also were able to succesfully invade the (US) phillips. and other countries in order to get their raw material to continue the war. I want you to think of an option they could of take, that would benefit the japs (except surrender) and then you can talk.
Given that situation, that's probably the only choice they could make to maximize their chance to win, as they had provoked the Americans in the Pacific. If they were really smart, they should not be so greedy to expand their so called Greater Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere to such extent. They were just too over confident, and thought they would win again (since late 19th century).
damn my other half got cut off, well on there i put on that u didn't know shit because if japan wouldn't invade those countries like the phillips. They would of forced to stop the war with china. So they needed that material one way or the other and they couldn't get b/c america declared emabargo with japan. So it was the only choice they could of made or just be a bunch of bitches w/ the USA and ask for forgiveness, or surrender the war with china.
Be polite in your wording. I have said it's their only choice. I didn't see your view is different from mine. I further pointed out they were too militaristic. U go back to study 19th century Japanese history to trace the background. They put themselves in the dilemma u mentioned.

No, more like stupidest. Did they fight with inferior weapons? No, Chinese fought with them with WWI weapons and spears during WWII. Killing youselves before your enemies got to you because you are out of ammunitions is cowardice, and it is hardly brave. Kamikaze is stupid because it didn't work and just wasting pilots lives. Russian airforce has a manuever similar to it by crashing their airplane into German's airplane if they ran out of bullet. That's brave.
Dude shut the fuck up really man, what the fuck you think running into another plane is brave, but using your plane as a missel to bring down a ship or kill 50 ppl is stupid k yeah man ur right, psst u just hate them b/c they were ur enemy.
Becuase they only ran into other planes when they are out of ammos. Guess what, if you are out of ammos and you enemies still have them, the only way to survive is to run into them. Kamikaze only work the first few times. Rest of the runs after US developed systematic swipe tactics, almost no Kamikaze hited US ships (you can google it). I am just pointing out there is a different between making a tatical decision and just kill youself for no good reason.
I know but as you can see kamikaze were ppl that their mission was to use themselves to stop the enemy for advancing so fast, this was used at 1944 and on (when they were desperate). If you are so informed then you should know that they were a lot of japanese who crashed their planes when they ran out of amo like the russians. You can google it or just see a pearl harbor movie, those weren't called kamikaze but did what a kamikaze would do.

Pearl harbor movie? All I see is Japanese coward attack without warning and only 55 airmen died compare to 2403 Americans...btw, it is also a biggest mistake Japanese ever made in WWII. It should delay dragging US into war as long as possbile.
World is not at peace yet. Nuclear bombs should've been dropped in 6 places, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Kyoto, Kokura, Tokyo, and Yokohama, where US had list of cities to drop.

I know this maybe rather out of no where but yeah.
likely they felt threatened cause the US wanted control over the pacific, not Japan.
The US never fought a single war without imperial interests.

Japs have been castrated. Balls cut off
Japs have been neutered. Balls cut off.
How can the Japs invade china, bomb pearl harbor. '41
The atomic bomb had not been invented. '45
The atomic bombing of Hiroshim and Nagasaki cut the balls off the Japs. '45
Note that the Japs and Germans had not invaded anyone since '45.
There will be economic competition, which is good for the world.
usa, russia, china, north korea, could Nuke them back to stone-ages in hour hour.
