Just transcribed the whole piece, took two days off and on, the movie intro is a whole step higher than the Henry's Jazz Club scene, where he plays with the trio also the timing goes from 4/4 to 3/4 for the trio shot, great work DAVE!
In 80's, Jeff Bridge, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson, and Patrick Swayze rocked! They all looked alike too! But, unfortunately, they were replaced by the dreaded Baldwin Brothers in 90's. LMAO!
Any jazz expert here? What kind of jazz does Jack's theme belong to? Both me and my wife enjoy this kind of sweet sadness music. And we're not old! We're still in our twenties! Many of our friends think we're weird because we enjoy and cherish this kind of music, restaurants, and bars.
I wish there were more places that have jazz pianists and a female lounge singer, but it's all in the past. Let's talk about Jazz. I like slow, soft, sad-toned Jack's theme-kind of jazz music, and that's it. I do not like elevator music or funky blues.
I've heard a part of faster saxophone version of Jack's Theme in a shampoo commercial a few years ago. I love this theme, it totally brings out the loneliness. Although I'm too young for this movie, I enjoyed it tremendously. All the scenes and sound tracks are flawless.
It would be nice if the tune was played entirely on the soundtrack, but it's not included, only a variant at the beginning called "Jack's Theme". I guess we're gonna keep on listening to it here of replaying the movie.
@alemiggiano This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Jeff Bridges was fantastic, too bad he's been underrated for most of his career, glad he's finally gotten recognition for Crazy Heart.
Why would he let Michelle Pfeiffer smoke his cigarette? She could have Cooties! The kind of Cooties you can live with! This film is terrific. All 3 actors were perfect for their roles.Jeff never better! He should have made another movie with Michelle [ either before or after!] ...as Pacino did].. The music and dialogue was first rate. Every scene was involving in this film. You're lucky when one comes along like this!

This haunting piece is one that I continue to remember from the movie, but I've never heard the entire rendition.

I love this movie, what's this tune called? I'm not sure they put this on the soundtrack.

Wish this was on the soundtrack-I can't find it anywhere. Rumor was that Jeff Bridges played this Grusin tune himself for the movie
