  • Slow motion in VHS is an interesting thing to see....

  • damnit hit the tracking button lol

  • Almost EXACTLY what happened to me! In 1987 (I was 19) a salesman brought out 4 16" tires and told me to install them on a Ford van. As I was trying to seat the first one, the bead just wouldn't seat, not matter how much soapy water I used. As the pressure got up to about 60 psi, the bead started to seat. A little voice in my head said "Uh oh" and I started to back away just as the tire blew. Lucky for me the rim was on a tire machine and I only got a minor concussion.

  • bad camera

  • @karlogkarl007

    thes is in 1991!!

  • @1412nkooos and that's when people knew how to spell correctly.

  • @ARJHaloRadio haha

  • Not the recommended way to break the bead.

  • Wow, it exploded three times, and returned to its original state twice!

  • Interesting. Thanx for the upload. The slow-motion forward and backward were a nice feature, tho it would also have been nice to see it at real speed once.

  • This is seriously DANGEROUS! When a tire fails like that it in essence becomes like a hand grenade of rubber that can shoot chunks of metal like bullets!

  • No thats how you remove a tire from the rim !!!

  • lol this video is older than most of the active age group of people who regularly use the internet

  • @goodkill1 hahah true.

  • we get the point you don't have to show it 3 times

  • do they even make 16.5" rims these days? my old 91 ford has them but havnt seen them on anything new

  • GREAT DVD QUALITY!

  • jun.........11.............1991 ???O.O

  • well theres your problem theres a big hole in it

  • this isnt slow motion this is a fucking slideshow

  • Houston, we have lift off

  • you know its not possible to run a tire on a rim thats a .5 in too big..

  • i expected for 25 000 fps slow motion, not a 2 screen shot/second video -_-

  • not really slow mo more like..laggy internet connection

  • I feel like that every day.

  • muy buen video los felicito por ser tan claro y de buena vision

  • Dang 1991?

  • meu deus quanta babaquisse..................

  • oh no not my Dodge 8 lug rim!!

  • reminds me of the ring.....

  • @GonaBeNavySEAL now...does MY name remind you of anything?

  • its amazing to think how much technology has changed since the 90's, what with the super slow-motion cameras and everything today

  • @Noxyus17 "Super slow-motion cameras" as you put it, (actually, high speed cameras) have been around since long before I was born (1960).

  • @ardvarkkkkk i know... but just how much theyv'e improved.

  • @Noxyus17 The improvement that you have seen has been price/performance. Good quality is now within reach of the general public. I have seen films from the 50"s that were of extremely high quality. These films were of bullet impacts and were shot by the department of defense. The equipment at the time was very expensive. So yes, they have improved greatly in recent years to the point that quality high speed cameras have been developed that are now affordable by Joe Average.

  • my birthday =)

  • worst camera ever

  • Haha! I barely remembered how bad vhs really is.

  • se alucina ...queria escuta o audio...

  • 3/4 ton GM P-U or van?

Yeah, I know of a guy who's got partial vision in one eye from doing the exact same thing. Another dude's right hand is messed up from the same deal; he had his hand resting on the sidewall when it blew.

  • this job is very dangerous, only the hard man work in it

  • wow nows thats true HD

  • is this the new 1000080p high definition? damn its sharp!

  • @586guest2 rofl

  • I worked at a Service Station in NC and the sorry owner would use a Tire machine only design for wheels up to 19 Inches for Wheels as high as 24. Needless to say that their were many damaged dubs. Also, He didn't allow cutting off a used 20-24 Tire off even though you had to in order to get the Tire off. Thank god I don't work for that Dumbass any more!

  • whoa the date on the video is the exact time i was born....And i got to air up my tire tomorrow. Shit.

  • Better stay away from it.

  • I used to hate reinflating flitrims on our old M-35 2.5 trucks. Worse still that band could fly off the dry rotted trire and take your hand with it.

  • Thanks for this! I'm drawing a comic where a tire explodes and used this for reference.

  • hahaha last thanksgivings family lunch outside

    they got board

  • Fucking VHS tracking Sucked

  • zzzzzzz

  • dude where is this Iraq ( bulletholes)

  • NO SHIT i was thinking the same thing lol

  • @kankerbezem1980

    nope california lol

  • @kankerbezem1980

yeah, overthere they have fun the same way as rednecks over here.

  • @kankerbezem1980 they're not bullet holes you retard. as you can see the holes are in a straight line and evenly spaced. it's where the steel frame was inside the concrete.

you're a fucking idiot go die in a ditch somewhere you whore. fucking iraq is dirt shit your mom is a whore bag.

  • @MultigrainPie Anger issues much? Correcting someone is one thing. Acting like this and running your mouth just makes you look like the one who is severely mentally challenged.

  • @Soulrider2012 haha well said

  • @Soulrider2012 you idiot i don't have anger issues I FUCKING HATE YOU stop being a little pussy bitch. i'm gonna shit on yo face.

  • what about normal speed and sound?

  • Love the old VHS :)

  • Glad you like it. Causes me to think of my kids who refuse to watch B&W movies. To an old dude like me VHS looks pretty fresh. Actually shot on old school 8mm.

  • @DanQuoLives When I was about 6, my dad gave me a movie to watch. When I saw that it was black and white, I refused to watch it (yeah, what a brat). My dad then told me I HAD to watch it. I was pissed but knew I'd catch hell so I watched it. The movie turned out to be the "Three Stooges", I loved the film, and I learned a valuable lesson.

Make your brat kids watch the Three Stooges in black and white, or some Abott and Costello. Maybe it will change their outlook.

  • wtf 1991

  • thats an old vid. i was only 4 months old when you did this

  • I was still a dirty thought

  • just think if you were airing that up and standing right by it you would be so hurt or dead

  • Yup, ive witnessed such an incident. The guy was put into hospital. A tyre wouldnt seat on the rim, he pumped it up to 110psi and it exploded. Luckily his face wasnt in the blast zone. but it took his legs out and is having surgery to put right his shattered tibia and fibula and shredded muscles. It was an old tyre mind due not a new one.

Bring on the kevlar sheaths to prevent this happening whist blowing up tyres.

  • Yeah one of my friends is in ICU right now from the same thing.. he has no teeth now and it put a hole in his eye so he lost his eyesight, multiple bones in his face broken, shattered his arm. not good.

  • Holy shit, 110 psi!?! A normal passenger car tire? I used to work in a tire shop and I would get scared trying to seat beads at 60psi

  • yep 110psi on a car tyre. We maxed out the generator whilst doing it. Ive comfortably seated beads on rims when the tyres been at 80-90psi. I must admit when they do seat, you cant hear much for the next 10 mins.

  • aiplane tyres go 200psi

some large aircraft goes 400 psi

  • poor chrysler rim

  • i put 60psi in a bike tire once... didnt go well

  • mine go up to 110psi lol

  • in a bike tire??? LOL

  • no can't you see in the middle its clearly a car tire.

  • noo, i was replying to "sasamagrasa" u tard

  • ohhh i see now.

  • nah. its got 8 lug nuts. thats no car tire. the tread looks like a steer tire from a medium duty truck

  • lol yeah BMX. my mate got to 97psi in a 65psi tyre.. and then it went bang haha

  • HAHAHA, nice 1, my bike tire said max 65psi, but it blew up wen i put it to 60psi :S

  • June 1991... wtf?

  • hm, the soldiers of the 1st gulf war had to test the tires of their hummers^^

  • I've blown a couple up. Luckily I use the safety devices. A friend of mine broke his wrist and hand and got stitches in his head when a two piece 6 or 8 inch wheel came apart.

  • this is one the main things my boss told me to watch for if customer brings in his own rim, thinking its a 16 inch rim, to put a 16 inch tire on it. if not you're paying attention, you can get seriously fucked up.

  • Comment removed

  • We can only hope.

  • high quality fo life

  • boring...-.-

  • Why take the trouble to make such an irrelevant comment, it,s a factual video this is just as it is------------i,m not getting you!

  • 'And the steel wheel rolls away unscathed!'---Nice part about having steel wheels as opposed to alloy.

  • cool what camcorder did you use?

  • HOLY SHIT!!!! I've heard horror stories of people being decapitated by split rims and mounting rings of semi-truck and aircraft tyres! 200 pounds per square inch is no joke O_o. This is why safety cages have to be used on larger rims.

  • damn!

  • acheter une cage de gonflage GUERNET !!!

  • Try a split rim, @ 5psi, and it can mess you up like a train wreck when the ring slips off.

Now when filled to 100 psi, and doing it Nov 21, 1971, the

1-1/2" steel bars the cage was made from had to be thrown away, when the split rim ring flew off of semi truck wheel.

Some guys used to stand over these, and some guys were decapitated real quick.

Do Not Mess with Old Split Rims. Unless your a qualified tire guy.

  • Depends what size wheel your talkin about. An average 15" split rim at 5psi wont do anything but bruise you unless your unlucky enough to have it hit you in the head. A 38" split rim however, usually has a lot bigger tyre on it and therefore a greater volume of air, although both at the same psi the bigger tyre has more square inches and a lot more force behind it.

  • 99% of all Split rim fatalities were lazy tactics of not cleaning ring grove perfect to factory spec.

They reset ring on rust embedded grove and paid the price.

I processed hundreds of these for semi shop as a kid, now 50+.

If guys don't have proper equipment, at least use tow chains rapped around the wheel.

I mentioned 5 lbs because that's what was used to dismount a stuck bead out of the groove. It was more violent than I thought.

    Cheers

  • There was a guy at kal tire in abbotsford bc who was filling a split rim off an ag tractor and he was filling it with air and went to grab the air chuck off it when it let go and literally blew him 20 feet into the ceilling. The ceiling was an aluminum style and there was an impression of both a wheel and a guy in it. Scary shit. He lived btw, major recover and reconstructive surgery later.

  • Wow, an Ag tire would be massive volume.

That guy qualifies for 8 more lives.

Then I picture the landing, w/all the equipment about. That alone would kill ya. Glad he made it.

That's why I mentioned 5 psi is shocking force when it lets loose in large volume.

  • google: Loren & Tracy Bergen

you'll link to a .pdf with the whole story.

  • Thanks, I saved it to file.

    Incredible feat by the surgeons.

Sounds like he's doing Ok, but I know the feeling, and your never the same when you get that close to the light.

That's the trouble with that kind of business as I did as well, your distracted every 30 seconds by other demands.

  • It's not to be messed with indeed. I work at a dealership on a industrial estate. One street next to us there's a Mercedes truck garage. I've not seen this in person, but this is how the story goes. This guy was fitting a tyre outside the cage and it exploded in his face. But that isn't what killed him. He was blown away and slammed with his back against the tyrefitting machine, which crushed his spine.

It was horrible, his body all mangled and he didn't die instantaniously.

    USE THE CAGE!!!

  • Wow, notice how the air hose reconnected itself after the tire recoiled back to the wall! Amazing

  • lol

  • Yeap. I know it looks cool. But see how the whole wheel just flys away from that wall? Air pressure becomes mega dangerous as the tire is ripped apart, and pieces of rubber and steel can fly anywhere almost as if they came from a gun. There was a story of a local fool boy, who liked to stab car tires as he walked down the street at night. The time he decided to stab a full size truck tire was the time he died! The force of the explosion blew him back against a wall and crushed his skull. :-(

  • Yeah that sounds like an urban legend.

  • estas loco , you are a stupid crazy loco man.

  • to all these youtubers posting their vids about inflating tires the redneck way & all this other shit & laughing. to all those watching & thinking theyve learned something cool & new. take a look at this video again. ive been doing tires since '79. ive seen alot & heard the stories. early on i got hurt & gained respect for these fucking timebombs. you dont let your dentist do brain surgery, do you? dont do the stupid shit these idiots are posting here, let those whove been trained do it right.

  • cant agree more!!

  • Man, that explosion left a DOUGHNUT on the WALL! Would'ya figger that?

  • Being a tire man can be very dangerous if you dont know what your doing.I have been changing tires for 6 year now,and trust me when I say if you dont focus on the task at hand and know what your working with shit like this will kill you.Last August I was airing up a used 235/75/15 when it exploded just like the tire in this video thank god it missed me.Although the air did blow every button off my uniform and sent my hat flying about 20ft high.

  • Well, there's your problem!

  • I dont see how you could get a 16 on a 16.5. I think its the other way around.

  • You can't, it will blow up if you try. When the 16" tire stretches out to 16.5" the steel wire in the bead breaks and the tire explodes. If you look at the video, you can see that the bead is broken.

  • I can see how a 16.5 will go on a 16 inch wheel, and will come off like this, but a 16 inch would be very hard to mount on a 16.5 because beads really don't stretch.

  • You are right, the bead won't stretch - it breaks.

  • @DanQuoLives i've actually seen it done, it looked...weird.

  • wow only 12 days short of being 1 years old!!!

  • On my 12th birthday!!!

    Happy birthday to meeee!! (8)

  • wow this was done when i was a month old baby

  • Yeah, we only had hand crank video cameras then.

  • LOL same here. may 11.

  • i have sean a bloke kill by a tire .

  • Was a tampon involved?

  • Cheers for posting!!Gonna use for education!

Happend to me in my learning days!!NEVER try fit impearel on metric black mans willlie wheel!dosent work!i was lucky am here to tell the story!people dont realise the dangers of tyre fitting!!Take care!!

  • were u talking to me or him?
