I grew up in N. Ireland during "The Troubles". I first saw SLF in the Ulster Hall around the time of their first album and it remains, quite simply, the best gig I've ever been to. Lifechanging.

That first SLF album totally rocked. Could be the best punk album of all time, and I don't say that lightly. If you like the sound of the first wave of punk rock, you must get that CD. BTW, loved to see the audience "pogo", though it's an example of herd mentality that drove people like Johnny Lydon crazy; the message: think and act for yourself and stop doing everything I do. Like the song says, don't want to be nobody's hero. Thanks for this great vid.

Saw Jake perform an acoustic version of this awesome song accompanied by Pauline Black, JJ Burnel and Steve Diggle (I think?) on the 'Three Men and Black' mini tour of small venues a while back.

25+ years on, grey haired and wearing a cardigan (I shit you not!) Jake snarled and spat his way through the song with the same passion and fury as he did in the glory days of SLF we see here. For an all too brief 3 minutes or so I was nineteen again... truly amazing. Hanx!

I was working as backstage security on this tour in the Bristol Locarno, an absolutely incredible experience. SLF were really second wave - later than the 76/77 bands, but their energy and enthusiasm were mindblowing. I was surprised that they weren't kneecapped back home for singing about the things they did, NOBODY made seditious comments about the paramilitaries in those days without paying the consequnces.
