@FiendMachine04 I've seen Megadeth once. I don't really enjoy watching them live because they never play the real thrash stuff like GM/BF, Loved to Deth or their underrated stuff like Mary Jane. :/
@SwedishBerzerker Thats a really big shame, you were one of my favorite guitarist on youtube. You do realize that megadeth does play some underrated songs at some shows right? like the rust in peace show for example, i dont remember every song but shewolf was one of them, plus they have over 100 songs you really expect them to please everyone? megadeth is an intense live experience, meshuggah is a bunch of drunken idiots moshing and fighting who don't have a taste in real music.
@SwedishBerzerker AND if you think them not playing the songs you want is bad, the guitarist of meshuggah has a solo album that he won't release just because he doesn't want to, im sure the whole meshuggah fan base would love to hear it but he decides he'll be a douche and keep it to himself. THAT is something to complain about, the real shame is that you actually like them, theyre one of the most uncreative untalented bands ive ever heard, the obsession everyone has with them makes no sense.
@Hatesmonkeys666 You seem to know a lot, so you've got to be aware of the fact that Meshuggah brought polymeters into metal right? They're one of the most influential bands of the 20th century/00's. Anyway, I understand how you feel, but you have to listen to them a lot to appreciate them. Start with their old stuff, like "Future Breed Machine", it's pretty thrashy. Uncreative? Get out of here, they're the most original band I know of - that's why so many are influenced by them.
@SwedishBerzerker I highly doubt that, it doesnt make sense to say that when there could've been 100 bands doing polymeters that never made it big. I gave them a chance, i listened to at least 12 songs and its all the same shit, damn dude i cant believe i actually subscribed to you, i watched theyre interviews too they have trouble explaining something as simple as a powerchord, that makes them brilliant? lol grow up, dave is 48 last time i checked of course his voice is gonna change
@Hatesmonkeys666 Another reason I didn't quite enjoy Megadeth is because Dave sucks at singing nowadays. I've heard he's getting better, but he's nowhere near his youth. And no, they shouldn't cater to everyone, they should cater to the THRASHERS, because they are a THRASH metal band. And no, Meshuggah aren't a bunch of drunken idiots, they wouldn't have been able to play that stuff drunk with 100% precision. Their main influences were Rush and fusion jazz, if you don't call that real music
@SwedishBerzerker i said the people at theyre concerts are a bunch of drunken idiots, not them... hell i could play meshuggah drunk and i can barely do anything drunk, you have to be joking, your telling me RIP isnt thrash? i don't even consider megadeth thrash tbh, they deserve to be in theyre own genre, unlike meshuggah, theres hundreds of bands that have that sound these days. I REALLY tried to get into meshuggah, but they do the same 3 riff patterns and every song sounds the same.
@SwedishBerzerker i wasnt gona reply because of that stupid ass comment but you really are just a meshuggah fanboy. they arent influenced by jazz or metal(look up interviews). they talk shit about other bands when they have absolutly no room to talk. saying they are influence by jazz and rush(awesome music) is completly wrong. oh and calling that other guy narrow minded is just showing me how defensive meshuggah fanboys get when someone questions their "music". ALL I HEAR IS POLYRYTHMS FROM THEM
@FiendMachine04 Uh, no - Haake's biggest idol was Neil Peart and Thordendal listens to a lot of fusion. He even made an album with a fusion drummer. The reason I've only covered Megadeth so far is because I want to cover all the songs I want to first. I've done some Malmsteen and Opeth too. Good riddance.
@SwedishBerzerker not only does your band talk shit about other bands they cant keep their story straight. ive looked at a couple of their interviews and the interviewer caught them lying. oh and dave mustaine brought spider chords to metal but you dont see him writing ten albums using just spider chords. when you say meshuggah is complex that makes you look like you dont know how to strum for shit. id love to see you TRY and play any necrophagist song. your arm would explode little kid
@FiendMachine04 Meh, who the fuck cares? I'm in it for the music. Spider chords didn't revolutionize metal in any way, it's just a way of playing a series of power chords, nothing more. I listen to some Necrophagist sometimes, and yeah, it's hard to play. But it's not like I haven't done minor and diminished arpeggios before. I've developed a lot and while I've only been covering Megadeth, I play some Malmsteen.
@FiendMachine04 I don't listen to Meshuggah because they're complex, that's just stupid. I listen to them because I like their rhythms. And I wouldn't say "little kid" because I'm probably a lot bigger than you.
@SwedishBerzerker polyrythms DID NOT revolutionize metal either. i can understand a cd where introduce some new strumming patterns but 9 or 10 cds of that is pathetic. your probably bigger than me just like that other guy is a narrowminded idiot
@FiendMachine04 I'm not a fan of death core and all that, but a lot of those bands cite Meshuggah as their biggest influence. Could you refer to an interview or something where someone from Meshuggah talks shit about another band btw? Polymeters is their trademark and they have a lot of variation. There's a pretty big difference between "Destroy Erase Improve" and "Nothing". How do you define an idea like that? In that case, you could say bands who use 4/4 always do the same thing... That post
@FiendMachine04 about "narrow-minded idiot" came out wrong because that was the third post I made, the former two disappeared, so it's out of context.
Mike always entertains. No matter how much I don't enjoy Dream Theater these days (still holds a big place in my heart though growing up as a teenager) Mike Portnoy is one hell of a guy. And his personality alway shines through. If it wasn't for Mike the band would disappear.
Just wanted to inform you, SwedishBerzerker, that when Portnoy says "Meshuggah-riff" he doesn't mean an actual Meshuggah-riff. It's just what the call that riff in this song because it's inspired by Meshuggah. They give parts of their songs different "names" since some songs are really long.
