Both this song and Postcard are the most emotional songs on the album. I feel pretty sad when I listen to them. SW is the only musician that has made me cry, besides him with Blackfield, of course. And Deadwing by Porcupine Tree, SW makes me cry in that album too. Well, I'm just a crier. Face it, Carol.
Lasse- cool to see that you post here and respond to comments.I think that the work that you do with Steven and Porcupine Tree is quite remarkable, and I feel lucky to live in this time for that reason.I agree with Steven about the 70's musically speaking, because that's the era I grew up in and played in myself.Until I discovered PT,I thought that my musical adventures were over.I was wrong, thankfully.
@ItOffishul Steven Wilson announced hes planning on recording the 2012 shows for a DVD for a release later this year :D Im seeing him in May so Im looking out for cameras haha! :P
Well, i like this song alot and it's on of my favourites on the "Grace for drowning" album. But the drummer in this live-version just destroys the song. Even if technically skilled, his playing is too much one-dimensional and machine-like.
I feel so honoured that i had the privillege to get backstage during a Porcupine Tree concert, December 5th, 2007. My mom died a month before that, my dad e-mailed to them, and we just were allowed to meet the band! I gave him such a big hug!
Saw this live in Baltimore MD, (as I always do every time Steven comes around my area.) It was dark and beautiful and haunting. I enjoyed it thoroughly, these concerts always cheer me up even when I am at my lowest. Thanks
saw steven at paradiso in amsterdam... best gig ever. seriously was the best thing ever. has made my life!! was really nice to have marco mineman right in front of me during no twilight and then nick beggs throughout raider II... wow. steven wilson is a musical god!
I can't believe the majority of live video of this show has been removed. I've introduced at least 15 friends to PT via utube who are now fans and have attended shows across the country. People had some great footage - live visual show doesn't compare to studio, completely different experience - what a great medium to share the experience and get others exposed. This live show was incredible.
@jmdb1994 Steven has mentioned the idea a few times on his official Facebook page, as he still wants people in places that weren't reached by the tour to see the show.
it is fantastic but I dunno about all this 'better than the studio version' business - the studio version has King Pat Mastelloto on percussion! but yeah, it's all wonderful stuff... and I was there! :D
The original might be my least favorite on the whole album (which I unequivocally love, btw), but this not only is a way better version but makes me appreciate the original more.
It's impossible how all live versions sound even better than the studio versions, which are already fucking awesome. Steven Wilson is a god amongst men! Really hope one of these concerts gets released as a live DVD...
@mhmdkkk well actually the quality of the live music is ofcourse for the biggest part not for Stevens credit but for all the other great musicians he chose to bring on tour
@LasseHoileDotCom I went with my two brothers, and two inlaws, (Toronto Opera House show) and ended up about six feet from the stage. The energy was indescribeable and a million times better than I could have ever imagined. Fantastic live band, and emotional... I'll admit I got a little choked up when he played Postcard. Cant wait for the next tour.. hopefully the tour t-shirts will have the right dates and cities on them :P
@NightMedicDoc Thanks for the kind comment and happy to hear you enjoyed the show and hopefully your brothers and inlaws did too :-) Best and take care, L
@LasseHoileDotCom Hey lasse, have you planned to record some audio of this next tour.....if you do, please recor some audio of chile! :D....PD: all Vip ticket are sale..hehe we love wilson here hehe
This was the most awe inspiring show I have ever witnessed! True musical genius!!

I got to see Steven (and his amazing band) in Paris, it was a brilliant evening, I loved every seconds of it.
I don't regret driving 700 kilometers at all to see the gig.
Thank's for the music (and the visual, wich was amazing as well)

The drummer compensated nicely for the absence of electronics, very tasteful and expressive playing.
