@wanthrasherholic I watched Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai too. Mr Big is progressive rock, of corz they had intricate musical varsity in their songs. How am i going to put this.. The Raw sound of maiden, the base in which many later bands adopted in their musical styles from progressive to power metal even. that is what i admire ur statement about the Pentatonic which Maiden used exhaustively. But hey, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin used blues the same way. Same chords over and over again.. ahhaha

the difference between this and the original, is that helloween's version makes me think of a post-apocalyptic future where the "guardians" are a cyber-army of do-gooders, whereas rhapsody's version makes me think of a castle under siege where the "guardians" are brave warriors riding dragons into battle. and in the end, both bask in the glory of victory!

I believe it's about totalitarianism. It's rather obvious IMO; "they control you and me" and "puppets on the string". It's in the same vein as some of their other songs were at the time, like Judas was dedicated to politicians who "act like monsters"
