@congaleader2000 I think the flaps also stabilze the airplane in such winds and turbulence so he let them down for a while. Also in a thunderstorm winds are changing so you can have 220 knots and a few secons later 170 knots 'cause headwind changed into tailwind.

@ebksb123 once the a/c gets past 200 kts it accelerates quickly & flaps are not needed. They are only used for approach speeds take off and landing . An airliner will never intentionally fly into the heart of a T-storm. The winds inside will literally rip any a/c apart!

That was a bit frightening..this noise at the taking off was creepy! I felt that if I was there at that point, my inside would scream "stop the plane". I had lived something similar. Someday for 5 or 10 minutes it was like we were on a ship in a wild sea. The captain told us that we had to fasten our belts and don't stand up till he tells us. We had an air pocket that I enjoyed (yes, I am crazy) but I am not super comfortable with planes. I wish I'll never have to take off in a bad weather.

@Criscocheeseman200 in the U.S. we arent aloud to takeoff into to hail what so ever he made a bad desicion to takeoff he could have waited 10 mins for it to pass and i know this is innsbruck and i am a pilot those planes and there captains that took off before you must have some mental diesease becuase that was stupid

WoW! this captain is an ass and shit headed person to takeoff in this weather he could have lost control due to damage of flight controls this guy needs to be inspected for retardedness but i have been in realy bad tyurbulence before iot was on a 747-400 going to hawaii the plane droped at least 70 feet
