I've never bought a car of any kind, new or used... but when it comes to models, I must say that overall I've never been tricked.. Word of advice though: Always check the box if buying a second hand kit.. :)

Car shopping is right up there with dentist visits for me. I hate it, for just the reasons you talked about.

Economy isn't so bad yet I guess, if they aren't chasing you out of the door with a new price.

i absolutely HATE car shopping for just that reason. they are ALL assholes. when i got my current car, i went to a lot to see a CRV & they wouldn't even talk. they wanted to talk about some other SUV that was a piece of crap. gave it to me for the weekend & i drove it home & it sucked. i took it back, walked out & never went back. UGH!!!

Good for you catching them in their lies and calling them on it! I don't think there are very many (if any) honest car salesmen, just varying degrees of dishonesty. Just my opinion.

Ive had 17 cars in my life and purchased another 10 for friends and family. There isnt too much they can slip past me:-) I was just amazed that they could be so blatant about it!

Mama and everybody are all fine, the tornado missed her place by just a mile and my brother had damage in his neighborhood. Its a mess down there and they arent letting people into parts of the city. Thanks for the prayers, there are lots of people down there that need em!

Daryl- he has a sister in Murphreesboro and his Mom and brother live in Tullahoma and he has a sister that lives close to them also. They are all alright and no Tornados or high winds did any damage, thank Goodness! It looks so bad on the news. Hugs!

Oh, it WAS fishy. I think they did the mileage slip on purpose to try and get more for the car. If my brother hadnt totalled moms van, I wouldnt be looking for a car now. Hopefully this will be the last car I purchase for her:-)

I think the salesman you're looking for may be extinct. I know we talked about xB's once. Cruise control wasn't ever a factory option on them until the newer style that came out in 2008. Fortunately nobody is doing much of a commute right now. Some day I will be putting in cruise control though. I've had 2 cars that I put cruise in myself. I lucked out with both. They worked great.

I know that adding aftermarket cruise control isnt the issue that it once was. I played it up to use as a bargaining chip, especially since they lied to me and said that they had a car with cruise control on it already;-)

I worked at a car lots for several years so I learned a few things about how they do things. Never trust those used car salesmen they will tell you anything to make a sale. Oh and remember most of the time they will come down on the price they are asking if you have cash.

Right now cars are not selling so you should have no problem getting a good deal. Check the newspaper. You get a better deal buying from a owner.

Oh I know better than to trust them, I have had 17 cars over the years and learned the hard way that salesmen were snakes! What steams me is that he already knew I was paying cash and he STILL wanted me to pay retail. My sister has a connection at the auto auction who is going to see what he can do. If not, we will be going with an individual sale.
