@manaburn The anthropomorphic personification of death is millenia old. He is seen both as the kind and just harvester who cares for his crop until the reaping. Also the static Omega factor. If it begins, it must end.

The challenge of death for a reprieve is almost as old as both. Challenging Death to a challenge, or in some cases trying to trick him. In the majority of cases they fail except when it is a just hero type that challenges.
