I don't understand how an actor acting in a commercial instead of a major motion picture is selling out. It's no different from an architect building a house instead of a high-rise.
This isn't a sell out - he was hired to do this to promote something. What you have to remember Jcrooks501 is that not everything the actor dose is down to them. Its all part of marketing. ITV wanted people watch them so who not to get but an actor that people new - who appealed to both men and women and had been on the screen lately.

Whilst gary is a sensational actor, the job of an actor SHOULD be to create an imaginary bubble for his characters to fill, the less an actor does outside these roles the easier it is for an audience to believe in the portrayal, it sucks the big one when your about to see a movie wherein one of your favourite actors is to play..for arguments sake homeless, then after paying your hard earned currency you see said actor in a commercial spruiking AMEX.Commercials are glorified modelling not acting.
many times gary's talked about how his last divorce left him broke & a single father w/full custody of his sons. he also was dragged into court by his last wife a couple of years after the divorce (to try to get custody) & she'll probably do it again. by doing the ads he does he's not 'selling out', he's paying for his sons', & his, future expenses, such as college & atty fees. he's smart to do so.
Gary does ads all the time. He's done one for Nokia phones, BMW, Donna Karen etc. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as he doesn't start doing shampoo commercials or something like that. And I'm sure the extra money doesn't hurt.

1) He may be the BEST actor of his generation, but that doesn't mean he is the best compensated.
2)Maybe this filming fit into his schedule, and around his kids' schedule, which, by all reports, is his priority.
3) Why not? Many say that adverts are the art form of our time...so? Besides, he is just so cool, many of us appreciate seeing him in whatever he graces!
